Veronica was married to Sir Fitzroy Maclean, the legendary soldier and spy. This is their kitchen at Strachur House, we were neighbours in the 80s an 90s, lovely people and Fitz was probably one of the most impressive men I have ever met.
I could speak to someone like her for hours and enjoy every second of her knowledge and wisdom. Today's woman haven't got one tenth of their class and intelligent deminor. Shame
she can't help herself to ask him to remove his hat in the most polite fashion "do you always wear your hat indoors" then goes on to compliment his "magnificent hat"...
Couldn't imagine her arguing in jobcentre cos her benefit is a day late like the one eyed an legd shite that refuse to pass away these days. Class has been replaced by crass and will never recover from it.
The essence of true aristocracy, true nobility, is to have absolutely no pretentiousness at all; no airs-and-graces, no pomposity or artificial mannerisms. The graciousness will come through quite effortlessly by itself, and people will like you for it. ... snobbishness on the other hand ... (cough ...)
This woman has an insane family: wife of the legendary Fitzroy Maclean, sister of Lord Lovat, the soldier with the bagpiper at Pegasus Bridge on D Day, sister in law of Antonia Fraser, the historian. Just one of those British upper class families
At the risk of sounding like an arse-kisser, there's something about the decorum with which individuals of her birth and upbringing conduct themselves I find to be very admirable. I have met only a couple of Lords and Ladies in my time, but every time, they've shown respect and decency to everyone around them, with no discrimination towards social status or the like. Who knows, it might be an act, but I find the effort towards making people feel as if they're in the company of their peers quite commendable.
I have to laugh at how terrified they are of flavour. A single bay leaf, couple of peppercorns, splash of white wine, all in about 3 litres of water? Salt? oh no, fish doesn't need salt!
A type of show that would happen again only if the world comes to end, then restarts. Simple, candid, 0 posing and full of lovely nonsense. Someone, please end the PC police.
What is there here that isn't PC? This is fantastic. and is entirely politically correct in every sense. The only reason you wouldn't see this nowadays is because styles and tastes have changed in television, as have television personalities. You don't need to try and blame everything on someone.
Big fan of floyd but if you manage to land a salmon in the rivers here then all you need to do it lay that salmon by the fire in foil and keep on basting it with butter and salt. anything else is barbaric!
@einTyp25 Thank goodness (God has nothing to do with your choice in life) that I'm not a vegetarian and, therefore, get to enjoy the TASTY things in life.
Thats more wrong than anything else You dont know if god has anything to do with it or not. And in fact, you might miss more TASTY things in life if you miss out on vegetarian dishes. Chew that real talk candy, cirgin
it so funny that the geezer dresses up to ape the posh bint - "do you always wear that hat on?" "my glorious thirty year old cooker" she posh he not innit - you can tell she look at the geezer and go like he one proper bit of jumped up nobody and no mistake hahahahahahaha

Thank you
Floyd was marvellous, so much of the video is off the cuff and spontaneous. And he was an excellent cook and writer.
The Lady is a gem.
How wonderfully disorganised as usual! She's splendid.
A magnificent hat....a rolling boil...a hob heat...that old bird was something else
Hear, hear!
this man is a legend
I love this lady.
I know, right? She is utterly charming.
I could speak to someone like her for hours and enjoy every second of her knowledge and wisdom. Today's woman haven't got one tenth of their class and intelligent deminor. Shame

Absolute classic Floyd
I watched him as a kid, and loved how much he inspired my taste in food.
she can't help herself to ask him to remove his hat in the most polite fashion "do you always wear your hat indoors" then goes on to compliment his "magnificent hat"...
Sylvan Peursum That's scottishness for you, we are a very polite bunch.
he's being rude to the cameraman as he's big gruff and she takes that away as take off that top hat i think. i would
Lady Veronica, a dying breed now.The poorer we are for it. Great British institutions.
I quite agree
@@mojo5093 well that escalated quickly

Love how Lady Whatshername questions Floyd on his hat after he bullies the cameraman.
Thank you 🙏
Watching this while eating salmon in this sauce with a glass of white is the way to do it. Feels like sitting there with them both.
Magical!

Do love a good old flat cap
Beats any cooking program today
Great times! And manners

Ah this is magnificent! Is this the lady that Billy Connolly talks about with the recipe for the leftover venison??
No
This woman has an insane family: wife of the legendary Fitzroy Maclean, sister of Lord Lovat, the soldier with the bagpiper at Pegasus Bridge on D Day, sister in law of Antonia Fraser, the historian. Just one of those British upper class families
@realsuperherodude is there anything wrong abt that?
@vaslav030547 lmao xD your comment made the video so much more enjoyable! and thats saying something where Floyd is involved!

I wonder if David Walliams was inspired by this lady to create his jam tasting / throwing up battle-axe 🤣
What a charming lady, rebuking Keith for wearing his cap indoors
he had quite a penchant for ledgers apparently
Veronica looks and sounds like Victoria Wood performing one of her characters, perhaps a customer from Acorn Antiques 🙂
The late, great Keith Floyd - the man Gordon Ramsay desperately wants to be, but cannot hold a candle to.
I wish Britain could be the way it was back then.
@realsuperherodude at least they didn't cook the salmon using the Jack Daniels
*pours wine, getting ready to empty the bottle*....
"That's enough!!"
Veronica Maclean is her name BBC not Mclane, sort it out mate
Aye, guv'nor, sorted!
She is roasting the poor chap.
@nighterjay balderdash
Scottish wild salmon walk away!
she has a very nice english
very Julia Child :) !!!

When dealing with a product like wild scottish salmon, it’d be criminal to marinade, or throw spices on it, throw in endless herbs with it
@@rmac8378 I could not agree more, but some salt. Please, at very least, a good pinch of salt, twice as much wine, pepper and bay.
Why spoil the flavour of good fish?

That fish looks more bland than a white wall
i can't tell if this is a comedy bit or a real show 😶
The last word against privileged English people being mad and incoherent. Oh, wait...
Keith wasnt posh.
Not a scot in sight
I love Keith but that Salmon would taste like nothing. It's just boiled and the sauce is atrocious
Bland

Two posh English people in Scotland...
They do love it up here unfortunately
I think Keith would've recoiled at you calling him posh.
You are so wrong, she is the sister of the great Lord Love and was the wife of Sir Fitzroy MacLean she couldn't be more Scots
Compare this to todays cookery show drivel
Food looked like it tastes of cardboard.
Always thought she was Peter Ustinov. 🤭😆🦘
