- In this cake decorating tutorial I show you how I made this BEAUTIFUL marbled buttercream cake using the acetate transfer method. I also show you how to make an Isomalt bowl tipper and some Isomalt spheres. I think this design has a real eye catching look, and the flowers only help to finish it off. Hi! Can you make the marbled buttercream technique with swiss meringue buttercream? Also, how to you get such a flushed look on the cake. I have tried this technique in the past but it came out bulky and it had a lot of holes....is there a technique to fix the holes?

I don't know! I haven't tried but would be interested to know.
Yes you can. I use the Lorann oils. You can find them in the cake and candy supply stores, Michaels, Walmart and Amazon.

Hi mary! Can you tell me when you are making the isomalt is it just faucet water you are using? And how much of water and isomlat? I ordered isomalt crystals from amazon and it has no directions! Thank you!
Well ai just made some today! The kind I have is 1/8 water to the crystals. So if you use 2 cups crystals use 1/2 cup water. At home I can use either distilled or tap. At work I have to use distilled because the chemicals in the water turn ut yellow:( Different town;) Some brands say you sont need to add water at all. So I would google that brand to double check. Maybe that is why it doesn't say?
Mary I love this deep wine colour! Have you ever coloured a buttercream a deep red? I have been asked to make a red tier and I’m stressed about it!
Oh sure;) Sometimes I add either a touch of black, brown or even purple depending on the underlying tone of the red. Do you have a picture of the red?
@@sophisticakesbymary hi Mary! No I don’t yet she just described a wine red so I envision the deep red in your cake video! I find a lot of colours never get terribly deep in buttercream , do you find this also?
Yes I do;( That is when I have found just a touch of an ash color like black or brown can take it to that deeper level. If you are doing wine red, I might try a touch of deeper purple with the red. Just add a tiny bit to make sure it isnt going to take it in the wrong direction and then add more if you need to.

I have never made that before! Is it a crusting frosting? I make a mascarpone filling but not a frosting. Sounds delish!

How do you make isomalt so isn’t Soft? What make it harder
You probably need to boil it a little linger. Homemade I heat to 280°. The pre-made crystals I heat to 310°. And use an infred Thermometer to get a good reading also.
If we dont have a thermometer how to do
@@loveablecrotchetandknittin3819 you could try the hard ball test. Drip a small amount into a bowl of cold water. If it hardens right away and makes a clinking sound on the bottom of the container, then it is ready;)

Re fake flower stems - here in Ireland its food kosher flower picks we stick into cakes, fill pick with icing and put flower into the pick - the use of flower tape/stick directly into cake- well youd end up reported to HSE for violating food standards. Im sure food laws are probably different where you are.
