I thought about trying it with a old 86 Toyota pickup with a old 22r with 400,000+ miles lol either this or I'll just rebuild it. But I was thinking of something new and different 😆
Finally, someone that is doing what I have thought would work! I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a factory 2.5L and a 5 speed tranny. I have long said that the tranny is agnostic to the power source. Yes, I do think regearing a manual tranny would work better with an EV setup, still, gear ratios are extremely important. I like how you are 360 degree aware with your project. I particularly like your methodology of star pattern tightening as all old school wrenchers will applaud you for doing this. Many Blessings!
The EV project:- young man, a sure shot upcoming technocraft, your view's, idea's, prethought, preparations, preplans, all appreciated, good luck, deserve 100👍🏿
Very impressive. The key thing you successfully accomplished was research. I've been procrastinating on this project for 3 years. I have the Truck, took out the engine myself and all I have to do is remove the remaining ice components and put my electric engine in. Great job kid.
This is amazing job I have a 1997 4.0 that I'm really attached to and don't want to let go of So with tge world the way it is beginning to look like I need to do the same with my jeep Always wondered about how to approach this switch over and the cost of everything this is worth a subscribe from me
No information in the video description. What is the motor manufacturer/part number? Is the motor 3 phase AC? Power rating? What battery manufacturer? Maybe this information is on a separate video? I'm watching! Have a 1989 that would be eligible for EV conversion.
Congratulations on your and your team's work, it would be very useful for us if you could also give us details of the parts you used, as well as stores that sell them.
Where did you get the flywheel hub and motor adapter... I thought you needed a torque reducer because of how fast the electric motor spins in rotation compared to the gas engine...
what kind of electric motor did you use? I'm doing a thesis for a mock up of an automatic transmission and I need a inexpensive electric motor that can run the transmission so it can change gears depending on the speed. what kind of electric motor should i use?
That's really good. I appreciate your work buddy. I'm interested in knowing what motor it is? If I want to convert my ICE to electric, what are the options for the motors?
This is a cool project, i have rebuilt alot of ICE,transmission, and differntial. For a long time i have been researching the idea of swapping a electric motor with least 300-350 pounds of torque capability too a simply transmission bell housing. IMO a decent electric motor has better torque muiltplcation effect with a good transmission gear ratio and rear end. The electric motors are being sold in diiferent power levels. Question: What battery cell, pack, acid, are you planning too used. But because of the instant torque of these electric motors..make sure your transmission is too task. My personal choice would be a TH400...very strong in stock form and very simple too rebuilt.
Given that there is little spinning inertia on the electric motor would be a whole lot less than on an engine, would lightening the flywheel be more or less beneficial than it would be for an engine?
Great job with the video! A little tip when putting the clutch and flywheel together, try to keep them as clean as possible. Spray the mating surfaces with some brake clean and wipe any excess oil or grease that may have accidentally got on them off. Also, not sure how the pilot bearing works with the electric motor, but on traditional engine/trans mating, there is a spline tool you use to make sure the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate are all aligned correctly before torquing them down. If not, a wobble or vibration may be induced. Otherwise, great video and I wish you the best of luck….even though this is an older video, good luck!
Good Job Man, please I have some questions for you. (1) what's the characteristics/rating of the motor (2) How did you connect the accelerator to it and the type of batteries used. Thanks
Being a DC motor, you can control the speed by adjusting the votage so I would suspect he's using some sort of voltage regulator to adjust the speed. Would be similar to a rheostat adjusting the voltage to dim a light bulb.
Thanks that was very nice short, I want to do the same with Tesla motor but I'm not sure where can I find flywheel hub that will fit in a Tesla motor so that I can add clutch.
How will you manage the ECU? I know its not as such needed when the old engine is gone, but believe air bags and some other stuff is controlled through the original ecu?
How come you decided to keep the clutch? Usually they say that EV s dont need gears, that just one gear is enough, or that you can change gears without a clutch
Back when I did it, I didn't have access to premade adapters or couplers. I had to machine my own. And use a random forklift motor from ebay. And build my own kit controller. And use garbage lead acid batteries. Whatever you do, PLEASE do not use lead acid batteries. Use LiFePO4 batteries if you can. Lithium Ion is also OK, but a bit more dangerous and more picky.
the flywheel and other parts that connected to the transmission, did you have to get special items or did you re-use your existing ones? Also where did you get the plate that covers the transmission from dirt?
Hi bro, did you po use the clutch system to this car I wonder have to install it coz I'm planning to convert my car but I know how to do it..thanks and regards, Godbless you
Hi, nice job! I have a question: what type of bolts have you used to connect the adaptor to the gearbox? And, do you know where I can find the technical drawings of the gearbox if I want to design the adapter from zero. Thank you!!!
To the rest of the people who searched this and know its possible, shows how smart and curious you are. God bless to us♥️

🙏
I like this project so much! I have been searching for electric-motors-to-transmission EV conversions. Excellent job!
He's doing great lyk professionals
Love this project. Can't wait to see your progress!

I was thinking about doing this to my d21
Check EVWest they got kits$$$
Waiting for the next step man! Amazing job! 💯 Don't give up!
I was thinking about doing this earlier today. Looks like I'm behind and it looks like you did a fantastic job
Thank you for helping keep another manual on the road :3
Nice! Like where this is going.
What we really need to know is where did you get the motor to bell-housing adapter and the pilot shaft to motor adapter ?
Thanks from Algeria and big like for you
Awesome bro!! can't wait for your next video! :)
You are awesome!!! Please stay strong and keep posting!!!!!!
Waiting to see the final result! Way to go!
Your bad ass bro keep up the good work
Very excited about this build!
Nice build man. Ev is the future.
This is amazing job

Beautiful work 👍👍👍👍
Appreciate your efforts
Please give the installation video, I can not wait to see it, Thank you for the wonderful video. !!!!!!
One of the best content
this is amazing, i hope u post again about this soon
I'm looking to get a similar year comanche and do the same ev conversion! Subscribed! Great content 👌
Hey Ian, I'm attempting the same with an 88 Comanche & Keeping the manual Transmission, keep us posted on your progress!
I love Comanches! Please blog your progress!
Im looking to do this to my old xj with a dual ac 50 I'll be following your product to see how it goes.
Where did you get the flywheel hub and motor adapter...
I thought you needed a torque reducer because of how fast the electric motor spins in rotation compared to the gas engine...
that was cool man!

If I want to convert my ICE to electric, what are the options for the motors?
Look into buying a used forklift motor. Brushless dc, or BLDC is what you want
@@duandlew5206Thanks a lot man
Good stuff

you dont need a transsmision, you can hook it directly to the differential
I'm doing a similar project and was curious on where you got the flywheel hub

Nice job what are the motor ,and battery pack and controls ..please let me know for my knowledge to make ev conversion to nissan x trail 2007 in india
Wow. I would love to do this to my cj7
Hi handsome. Great channel and topic.
Beautiful 😍
Good video. I enjoyed it.
I might have when even smoother together if you had used a plastic dummy shaft to line up the clutch before bolting it on to flywheel
hello, this project is very cool, how many kW engine does this use? Or maybe what engine rpm and torque do you need for this project?
Thanks that was very nice short, I want to do the same with Tesla motor but I'm not sure where can I find flywheel hub that will fit in a Tesla motor so that I can add clutch.
keep up with the good work 👍🏻
Nice 😊
Should have put some locktight on them bolts for the motor adapter plate.
Where'd you get partsfrom
Excellent!!!! Where is the second part???keep the good job💪💪💪💪
Sooo can you replace the battery 🔋 with a small Yanmar diesel generator or Honda gas generator in the back???
Thinking about doing this to my d21
Great project! Any updates?
Keep going !!!!
NICE, I'm converting a '79 Triumph TR7 - no clutch. What batteries will you be installing? I have batteries from a Fiat EV.
Greetings! How would you go about using and electric motor only for cruising speeds? but retain gas engine? transfer case? th
x !
How will you manage the ECU? I know its not as such needed when the old engine is gone, but believe air bags and some other stuff is controlled through the original ecu?
love it💪🏽👌👍...how is the progress?
How come you decided to keep the clutch? Usually they say that EV s dont need gears, that just one gear is enough, or that you can change gears without a clutch
Awesome project! I’m doing the same thing with my Jeep. What are you doing about the steering and braking?
You will need an air pump for braking s but steering have to be modified for electric

Thanks for sharing 👍👍
It’s wonderful to see forward-thinking youth, without sagging pants, tattoos, and body piercings. Thanks for an informative video.
I need to convert my 85 K10. Looking at motors and battery packs.
Parts list? Adapter etc would be cool if you put a link on the bio
For a 1500kg car weight and gasoline engine of 2.0L producing 140HP. Could you kindly suggest AC motor capacity that could be utilized?
the flywheel and other parts that connected to the transmission, did you have to get special items or did you re-use your existing ones? Also where did you get the plate that covers the transmission from dirt?
I retained the existing flywheel and clutch. The adapter plate and flywheel hub are from Canada EV.
Hi bro, did you po use the clutch system to this car I wonder have to install it coz I'm planning to convert my car but I know how to do it..thanks and regards, Godbless you
Did you use a clutch plate centralising tool?
Did you make the motor/transmission adapter? Or you can buy them?
What the motor specification you use for that?
So smart!!!
I DON'T USUALLY SUBSCRIBE ...... But I did with you.... Thumbs up
Can you assisted of Jeep PatriotEV conversion
What's the cost of this project, how cool!
Where to find the flywheel hub that sits on a specific motor?
Any updates?
Is that motor big enough for a suburban or tahoe?
Love this project! Just wanna know what motor are you using?
Hi, nice job! I have a question: what type of bolts have you used to connect the adaptor to the gearbox? And, do you know where I can find the technical drawings of the gearbox if I want to design the adapter from zero. Thank you!!!
He uses a Phillips screwdriver
how many amperes the motor is and how many watts the dynamo is using
I do actually believe you can do it. Waiting for new video
What is hoarse
power rating of the motor and voltage
