LOVE Vince saying he thought he'd "made it" at 18, being able to pay the rent. The entire rest of his career has been a blessing, and he knows it. So humble, and always learning to be more of an artist, more perfect.

I love the Eagles so much- I was heartbroken when Glenn died - and didn’t want anyone else to even try to sing his songs- but the respect that Vince has for Glenn made it more of him honoring the late and wonderful Eagle- and although I wish it was Glenn singing- I’m so glad it’s someone like Vince - God bless them both 🌹

Totally agree with all you’ve said. I have loved both my entire life and miss Glenn but Vince is doing a great job, not trying to be Glenn but doling his own type of music and definitely hitting it head on!

Listening to him talk about his path to his position, is also enjoyable. Yeah, I've been a fan of VG for decades. Rock on Mr. Gill.

Go rest high on that mountain was my grandfather's favorite song. He lost a son to an accident at the very young age of 7. My grandfather and grandmother both have grieved for years but now they are finally reunited. I'll never forget the day i walked in at my grandparents and papa was listening to this and i just hugged him and we both wept bitterly. I'll never forget that as long as i live. I thank the Lord for all those years with them

My favorite artist of all time is Brian Wilson, and Vince Gill is in my top 10. To hear Vince speak of Brian's music with such respect warms my heart and makes me proud of the incredible body of work Brian gave the world. And for those who haven't heard the work of Brian Wilson/Beach Boys after 1966 please do yourself the incredible favor of checking it out. It's not often heard because it was not commercially successful, but much of it is absolutely mind boggling in its depth and beauty. Thanks for another winner, Joe. I SO appreciate the content you are making available to the world. Someday I hope to come to Nashville and perhaps have a beer or cola with you!

There's very few people who can take on a very difficult challenge like that, and then go on to do so many other different things in his career. I had the honor to meet Vince in Sonora, California at the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds in July, 1990 when he was touring in support of When I Call Your Name. His bus had broken down and he was late for the gig. He encored twice as I recall, the first for the title track for which he received a standing ovation. I was blown away by the response, and realized that the man's career was exploding. On this tour he was already debuting the songs Look At Us, and also Pocket Full Of Gold, which also received very enthusiastic reactions from the audience that night. I got to hang out with him at two other gigs on that leg of the tour; some of the best memories of my life.

Those days back in the early 90's when I was in college in Las Cruces going out country dancing 2 or 3 nights a week are some of the happiest and carefree of my life. I remember 2 songs the most from that time, Shameless, and When I Call Your Name. The first time I heard Shameless on the radio, I told my girlfriend, that song is going to change Country music, and I was an aficionado back then. It really did. Those two songs would bring tears to my eyes I remember clearly. Vince Gill, you were right there with Garth Brooks in my eyes. You have the most perfect vibrato, and most effortless high register in Country music in the past 30 years. Many thanks for the memories you have been part of.

I've just watched a video of the 2001 Brian Wilson tribute gig at Radio City Music Hall when Vince sang that beautiful song. My God what a voice! What an extraordinary performance! Deep respect to Vince. PS the bit about Brian Wilson saying to Vince, in the wings, after the performance, that they never did that song live because it was too hard was just wonderful! Joe, just keep these treasures coming man! Especially during strange times like this when musicians are being starved of gigs, it is so wonderful to be reminded of beautiful music and gifted musicians.

They actually had done it live in '71, when it was released on the Surf's Up album. It was a major event at Carnegie Hall - the grand unveiling of the legendary unreleased Smile album song, complete with strings and french horns. It is true that after that, you never heard it live throughout the rest of the 70s, 80s, 90s. I was there in 2001 for the Brian tribute. Listening to VInce was great. Since that time, especially with the release of Brian's solo version of Smile in Oct 2004, Brian and his band do perform the song regularly. It's also been done by Jeff Beck back in 2005, which led to him combining with Brian and tour in 2013.

Damn Joe! Another excellent interview! As the kid who spent countless hours reading liner notes (remember those?) on every LP I could get my hands on, this is just fascinating to me. Vince is such a “real” person and you are so comfortable in your role that this is a real treat.

"Everybody wanted to be Elvis, I wanted to be scotty" I love how this interview recognizes and acknowledges the talent behind the stars. Vince elevates those musicians to the greatness that they deserve.

This is one of the best interviews of any musician I have ever seen. Joe really has a great way making everybody he interviews feel so comfortable and he makes the audience feel like we are all sitting on the living room couch together and makes you feel like family; haven't quite seen that with anybody else and I love every single interview he does but this one was extra special.
I was raised on rock and roll and in my 50s now so I still had an appreciation and exposure to everything and I am just now starting to appreciate everything Vince Gill has accomplished. Just his rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with Larry Knechtel (R.I.P) at piano, he should be made an honorary member of The Wrecking Crew. Pure inspiration and still so damn humble! Peace, Bob M.

I was working a part-time security job at a Christian bookstore called Kindred in Birmingham, AL in about 2000. Amy Grant was there signing books and promoting a new record. And lo and behold, standing inconspicuously back away from her table was Vince!
I honestly don’t think many (if any) of the Amy Grant fans even recognized him. But I sure did! He actually came over and spoke to me (I was in my Sheriff’s Department uniform) and he asked if we were expecting any trouble. I explained that we weren’t, but the manager just felt more safe with a little extra security there for the event.
I actually got to talk with him for a few minutes and told him I was really impressed with his guitar and vocal skills. He replied: “Man, I just play a guitar and sing. You guys in uniform are the ones I admire.” Then he thanked me for my service.
I asked him if it bothered him that Amy was getting all the attention that day, and he said no, that this was Amy’s time and her people. He was just enjoying watching her interact with them.
I was already a fan of his, but on that day he became one of my absolute favorites. A very cool dude!

This was wonderful! The Eagles have always been my favorite band, with Glenn Frey as my favorite member! I was so very sad when he passed. I also Love Vince Gill, since the first time I heard him. Put them together, thank you! I saw you in 2017 in Philadelphia, with James Taylor. What a wonderful time!

Incredible. HUGE fan of Vince Gill. Living in a world where he was not discovered, allowed, to get to full Vince Gill would be a lesser place. I spend hours trying to take apart his guitar parts...his voice simply defies any attempt I could ever make.
