It must be fantastic to look back at all you’ve done, and see how happy everyone is. What an inspirational person. He just makes me want to be better, and do better. Such a wonderful man. Glad he is who he is, and glad he married Linda. She grounded him, and made sure he knew that he could go on w/o The Beatles. What a life!

Out of all the famous people I've ever seen, Paul has handled fame the best and for the longest time at that high level. He has been able to maintain his inner peace and humility even though the world has made him a king. That is really rare. The other famous people I've seen handle fame well that have never changed are/were Jim Carey, Dame Edna, Adele, Alicia Keys, Johnny Carson, Steve Carell, and Bob Hope.

Wings, still paying a price for being Paul's band after the Beatles. Wings, including every member in each lineup, should be in the RnR Hall of Fame. They probably consider Paul's induction as a solo performer sufficient; however, if you google Paul's number ones, etc., they only include his discography as a solo performer since the 1980s and do not include his lead vocal/songwriter/musician success with The Beatles and Wings.

really remarkable document of an era I remember as a child, thank you for posting this historical document, I don't believe that many understand the cultural impact McCartney made in the 1970s , and what a towering achievement it was to follow the Beatles with such resulting hysteria. Paul McCartney's artistry and humanity is beyond reproach. A shame we can't seem to give people their dues while they are still alive, but I can tell you Paul McCartney has left an indelible mark on our very being. A true legend.

Apart from being the best musicians, performers and songwriters, the Beatles are a joy to see and hear...Call it charisma, or whatever, but after a few minutes of seeing this video, I start feeling happier...I can't describe it any better. And it always happens to me. A song, a movie, a perfornance, an interview is all it takes to make you feel happy. It's uncanny, but I bet it has to do with their massive success. I mean, it's not just music. It's an aura about them all.

To anyone who needs evidence of Linda's musicality, refer to her tambourine playing at 14:10. No studio tricks there, she clearly has rhythm. As far as I'm concerned, she was a justified member of the band on all fronts.
Edit: I’m very aware of the famous live Linda backing vocal track. I’ll say this: an isolated microphone from a live performance on a loud stage in the 70’s doesn’t represent the limits of anyone’s musical ability - especially when there are songs upon songs - live and otherwise of them singing perfectly in tune. Pitch is very much tied to the ability to hear yourself, so that position on Linda is a straw man argument that doesn’t hold up to any further scrutiny.
Also, if you think that keeping rhythm on tambourine is nothing, then you are either naturally gifted, the beneficiary of hard work, or ignorant. I’m not saying Linda was as good as ANYONE else in any band Paul had, but she held her own in the role she was given.

    • @jj9749

I was a member of the Wings fan club, and was forced to "not waste" the cardboard tasting gum that came with the Beatle cards. My first big time memory was in my pjs watching them appear on Ed Sullivan, through Jr.High Beatles posters filled my walls. To live in the time of SiriusXM Beatles Channel, Paul and Ringo still fabulous, still touring, Beatles still #1 worldwide is beautiful and amazing, and yes Wings should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Perth Australia reporter guy saying Paul is too old at 33 years of age for Rock and Roll, makes me laugh. Paul is now around 76, and just released another album and still Tours ...... I love that he is still creating and playing music, I'm 68 years old, and it makes me feel younger to know that.

Mango Green Tea suppose back them days most people prior to McCartney and the Beatles had been young pin up stars. Of course during Beatlemania they had the screaming girls but in McCartneys case he wasn’t just a rock and roller he’s one of the greatest musicians to ever live.

Listen to tape audio not always perfect, authentic capture...it was not easy to be a filmmaker back then. Who ever was the many cameras with synch sound was quite a marvel. The band had to wait weeks just to see a film roll with sound attached projected. This is like smelling incense, see a swirl of smoke and the calm the two bring. Just a great band making great memories! 👍

You can go to the website of the Liverpool Institute and see him looking very self-confident in a couple of school photos with George standing further along. He was there between 53 and 59.
My Dad left in 55 but his younger brother was in the same form all the way through and is sitting on the ground at the front. Paul, George and my Uncle knew each other well.
The Institute was an excellent school with an excellent German headmaster and produced a lot of very capable and resourceful people including my Dad and his brother who both rose to the top of their professions similarly to Paul and George.

The most enduringly prolific songwriter/musician ever. He certainly would never be characterized as the "best bass player or best vocalist" ever BUT 1) put all his musical qualities/skills together, and 2) consider the many decades that he's been doing his schtick, and there is no one who compares. (And I believe Lennon was jealous of McCartney.)

Only back in the 70's could hundreds of people group together in a line , to wait to buy tickets/ get in a show without much fuss or a huge fight break out etc.. not that that kind of stuff never happened then, but it wasn't as prevalent then....
The old skool days of waiting up / camping out on the sidewalk to get tix to an awesome show. No pre-sale interent access, or sold out in under 20 minutes etc..

    • @functionalschizophr
      @functionalschizophr 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well then,... I guess we should be talking about media and it's effect on the public's thinking, because I don't disagree with you on that. My point was that people have become increasingly agitated , violent and impatient.
Regarding the media: War Of The Worlds (as you probably already know) , was actually an experiment on the public when it was broadcast on the radio. Right then & there, govt. knew they had a powerful "weapon" in which they could wield on the public, at will. And they have been playing with people's minds ever since.
