You have a great channel because you are doing it all yourself. You have not sold out to high priced sponsors, with their trade mark garments, flashy deck gear or state of the art engine or boat. Sorry, I'm just a small sailboat person and appreciate those who make it on their own. Tom

I hadn't heard of Delos until you mentioned it. I checked out a few videos, and that whole operation is totally insufferable. True for most sailing videos/people it seems. But, I can't stop watching your adventures, Sam! There is something special about your approach and your outlook and the purity of it all. Don't stray from that, no matter how sweet the swag may be. All the best, Kelsey.

Delos is so big and popular based on their long road to get there. How about doing a little research and learning about their 10+ year journey and have remained humble and gracious. And for people who are talking about babies...Bryan and Karen had their baby after 10 years, yeah shame on them for starting a family. Delos and Sam together for a couple videos would be awesome.

There's an easier way to make rice. Buy an insulated thermos, one of those double walled stainless steel types. Put water and rice in a pot and bring to a boil, once it starts boiling put it in the thermos. It will cook itself from there, takes about twice as long as normal but you don't have to watch it, it won't spill and you aren't burning gas. That's what I do when hiking and bicycle touring. Works for pasta and all sorts of other things too. Don't add hot water to cold things in it, won't work that way, have to bring it all to a boil first then put in the thermos.

Hi Sam, I just want to say thank you for the videos which seem to have given me some encouragement in my own sailing. I will say you make it look easier than it really is which lead me to some precarious adventures. I just sailed to Hawaii helping a friend get his boat (38ft) to Oahu...Oct. 23 - Nov. .14th. My advice to anyone thinking of crossing in fall is DON'T!!! Four of the days were terribly high winds. A mast shroud snapped during one of the bad days...our third jury rig held but we were forced to sail under jib only and had to favor our port tack to avoid stress on the mast. One day was like being in a washing machine all night. But Henrietta sends her regards...my videos on the way to youtube to share.

I always cook my rice like pasta. Put in more than enough water and boil the rice until it is almost ready and just a little firm to the taste. Then poor it though a strainer which fits over your cook pot saving about an inch of water to return to the cook pot and then steam the rice dry in the strainer until it is done for the last 5 minutes or so. Works like a charm and you don't have to worry about boiling the rice dry or burning it like you do using the absorption method. And this has the added bonus of not needing to rinse your rice to remove excess starch since it gets removed with the cook water.

Consider a fender board. They are heavy enough not to “squeeze “ out and will fall back into position. Use a hard wood for the board and 2 of the largest fender board ends. Great protection from piles and rough (commercial) docks.
