Say what you want about Pete Doherty, but he's extremely talented. His lyrics are very poetic, and the fact that he just picked up that acoustic guitar and started singing and playing, I think it's great.
Petes life is a whirlwind of music and excess, how Rock & rolls always been. I'm inspired by not just the breakout acoustic solo but the whole video, it personifies how he lives life, raw and on the edge. Nd that's why even now I still stick up the bracket on almost every week
I love how this shows the fun, playful side of Peter, especially like that little snippet of Pinnochio's dance "got no strings to hold me down" Ha! he's just so darn cute!
✨ I’ve been looking for this video for sooooo long!!!! Been tryin to remember the name or the lyrics to it, keepin me up at night, takin over my thoughts 💭 googling descriptions of the video + weird random words that I thought were some of the lyrics… I just let play a load of Pete Doherty live songs on my TH-cam - & *poof* THE LONG LOST VIDEO!!! I saw the title & knew instantly… what a relief & sweet reunion. 😮💨🤯🤩🥹💕
he lives like sid vicious man, im supprised pete is still alive ive been to see babyshambles twice ounce in birmingham carling aacad october 2006 and nottingham november 2007 when the 2nd babyshambles album dropped
I've seen all his stuff, man, tons of youtube clips, albion archives, french dog blues website stuff, have his old laptop file which is gigabytes in size and full of music (loads of demo's, b-sides, studip recordings, etc etc etc) literally everything, I am a huge fan - if you can recommend me any new stuff please do (although i've already listened to about 3 of his new songs on youtube already), but i don't need recommending older stuff - i've seen it all
its sad that every video that is accociated with pete doherty is littered with people arguing about the drugs in his life. the beatles, curt cobain, jimmy hendrix, sex pistols all did drugs. the only diffrence is they didnt have the likes of The Sun, Daily sport and all that tabloid shit following there every move and mistake.
Breck Road Lover is a great tune and, as I am from Liverpool, it resonates with me even more. I don't think anyone could argue that Heroin is a good thing to be on but I certainly don't think it has been a negative influence on his creativity - the 2nd Libertines album was heavily influenced by drugs as was both Babyshambles albums - which doesn't really square with the "drugs cancel out all creativity" argument.
p.s. agree completely with your assessment of him being the best artist around in the UK - absolute genius and on another plain compared to almost everything else out there at the moment.
In the beginning, it briefly shows a red guitar with three pickups and two f-holes, is that a crestwood? It looks like jack white's with the exception of the pick guard... and the pickups..
same story for me, bought the media hype when i was young an naive believing he was a junkie an nothing more. got tired of hearing about him and thought i'd check out a tune or 2 too see why anyone liked him. blew my mind, inspired me to play guitar and write songs and still remains one of (if not my favourite) artist today - the word 'genius' is bandied about way too much but, in Dohertys case, i could not think of a more appropriate way to describe him
Those are both Epiphone models he is playing in the video my friend. The vintage Gretsch is a White Falcon, also played by Frusciente and Neil Young. Rock on.
Could someone tell me if this is one of his songs or if its someone elses. I love that chorus, "Sometimes I think I'll settle down and try to change my ways/But what's the use in dreaming, I'll just drift around, Go from town to town" Love it.
hey! i also think there she goes is great, but check out the bass line from the cure-lovecats-...there she goes is of course more jazzy but the bass line comes from there,or wherever the cure picked it up
search 'hired gun' on ulitmate guitar tabs archive. Would post the link put youtube doesn't allow it. Also, at the end he cracks out into Pretty Girls Makes Graves by the Smiths.
i just DON'T get it so waisted or under influence of i-don't-wonna-know-what and still play that guitar SO masterfully. watched him live yesterday in Belgium and it was ö (he drank 2 bottles of gordon during the 1 hour show. like water. and he amazed us all)
Well, from Houston to New Orleans To the badlands way out west A high riding there, way beneath the sun Well, there ain′t no girl waiting for me No one left up to adore me That's the life of a Hired Gun Well, the Sheriff and his posses come riding after me I spend my time living on the run Well, and when my work is through There′s no place I'm goin' to That′s the life of a Hired Gun Sometimes I think that I′ll settle down, Just to change my ways But what's the use in dreaming For I′ll just drift around As I move from town to town Well, I go where they require me And I fight for those who hire me I spend my time living like a lonely one Well, there ain't no girl waiting for me No one left up in my after-glory That′s the life of a Hired Gun Sometimes I think that I'll settle down,
What a great piece of "archive" footage today. Remember this being posted.
Peter is just so lovely in this video and of course, his performance is amazingly beautiful. The person who filmed this deserves an award!
All the awards!

It does not get more raw or pure than this.

@ohmyguard2
Pete often records stuff on his laptop of him just doing guitar stuff, it sounds like him just playing back demos.
Moi aussi je suis française ! ca fait plaisir un fan de Pete en France car c'est pas vraiment courant...
