High lift cams and more revs does that to any car.
george kurgansky The external wastegate is the reason it sounds so raw and brutal. But high lift cams and revs definitely help.

Auto M140i does 60 in 4.5 secs, how would this 'eat it' son ? Not to mention a much nicer looking car, with a luxurious interior, plenty of toys, back seats. M104i would be faster in every way, and more fun too.

Same! I had a 2005 EP3 and I loved it! I own an FN2 now and it is a nicer car to own overall.
Drove a 300bhp Seat Coopra FR the other day. Yes it's quicker than my EP3 but no way in hell I'd swap it. Just not as much fun.
Should deffo change the timed runs to 60 - 100 to give the front wheelers a chance. Would make for interesting viewing.
Real tricky finding road to “safely” do it .. but ur right it is very unfair for the FWD cars

Vtec + Boost = Smiles for Miles! Have a similar turbo setup on my Fn2 with the screamer pipe and it's truly a viseral experience everytime you step on it! I can never describe how ferocious and addictive it feels, so great work capturing the thrills and exhilaration one experiences with such a beast! 👏👏

I don’t think this generation of civic type r is appreciated enough. Although the styling is ‘unique’ and regarded by most as the worst looking type r, it’s very much an end of era homage to the classic hot hatch back of the 80’s and 90’s. Most of its competitors at the time like the Golf GTI and Focus ST were opting for turbo engines and in some cases like the gti, offering automatic gearboxes where as the Civic was a classic design with a manual gearbox and a high revving N/A 4 pot that was more engaging to drive as you’re constantly changing gear chasing the peak power around 7k. Since the fn2 and JDM type R (fd2), the Civics followed suit and began using a more powerful turbo application and although much faster, I feel like the modern Type Rs have lost their raw and unique aspects. I currently own an ep3 type r and it’s by far the most fun car I’ve driven. It’s not the quickest by any means, but I love how everything sounds and feels as I feel so connected to the car at all times. All I have done to mine so far is a breather mod from Tegiwa and that alone has made such a difference. It doesn’t feel much, if at all faster, but just hearing the v-tec crossover is enough to excite me every time I drive it; Something that any modern hot hatch doesn’t offer.

People talk about the FN2 like its dog shit. They'll still be turning their noses up at them when EP3s are non existent. Torsion beam blah blah... Love it or not, this became the affordable Type R of its day. Teenage lads turned to look at them as they walked away from them in disbelief that they owned one. It will, by way of the K20, and the branding, become an icon.
Keep going man, you’ll go far. I wish I still had my Clio 1.8 16v turbo. Just pushing over 200bhp but the thing was a rocket. Had 0-60’s in the low 5’s. Keep it up.

With turbocharged a K20 engine, you removed the high 9k rev peak to 7.5k ~ 8k. So it like Low-mid VTEC before reaching high VTEC zone, turbo spoil kick in.....damnit....the whole drive feels changed, no longer true VTEC NA. Yes no doubt you increase bhp tremendously but we talking about drive feel.
It never did rev to 9k it still revs very near to that at 8.6k also turbo is fully spooled by 4.5k so it's just like when it was n/a and vtec would kick in. Just alot more aggressive
The k20 is king, a stripped Kswap or a Ep3 stripped with a boosted K20 is a hard car to beat on the road! Especially ones in the region of 500-600hp crazy performance lol

nice video. But when you wear that 4-point belt that way with the lap belt high up across your stomach, you'll either submarine under the belt in a frontal crash or you crush your internal organs from the belt pushing against your belly instead of the pelvic bones. Either case is not nice. The lap belt needs to run across the hips and be tight as hell. Only ten tighten the shoulder belts, also tight as hell. The only approved 4-point belt BTW is the Schroth ASM belt with ASM standing for anti submarine. Stil best used with a crutch strap. Oh, and only use 4/6-points with a Helmet and Hans. Your body dos hardly move in a crash if they are properly worn, but your head does. in a three point, your upper body first moves forward reducing the difference in deceleration rates between body and head. Your neck will thank you if the proverbial shit hits the fan.

It's to keep it in its power band in stock form as if it drops out of vtec it would be even slower. It's a 5.1 final drive but will be changing to a 4.3 in the future
