It's easy to take shots at the US, but take a step back and look at the situation. Millions of Cubans are fleeing Cuba because it lacks the most basic of necessities. Millions of Cubans show up on the shores of Florida seeking refuge and a better way of life. Millions. And people expect no dialogue on the subject? People have the audacity to criticize Americans for promoting free speech and democracy, when millions upon millions of people make the heartbreaking decision to flee their countries of birth and leave their families behind and travel to the US to provide their children with a decent shot at life? Believe it or not, Cubans do not like their government but they are so controlled and powerless that they feel trapped and think that their only option is to flee. Look up the pitiful rafts that people fling to on the open sea and then come talk to me about the merits of Socialism in Cuba.

This sense of realism in interviews is almost a forgotten art. Today's interviews are lackadaisical satires and careful wordings and topics Everything is a consequence, every nuance controlled and monitored. The moment it even gets a bit heated it becomes "bad sportsmanship " "rude" "unbecoming". .live a little. Let's be realer with one another
You know, people who've met Fidel would say he's a great guy. One Christmas eve, his flight had to stop in my sister's town, going between Russia and Cuba. They say he was very friendly, he actually went sledding with the local kids (he fell and his bodyguards got pissed) and he even personally helped shovel out a woman's car at night. Google "gander christmas eve fidel castro" to see the article, goto the one from "ganderbeacon" to see the article.
When a business loses capital as did many American firms in 1960 Cuba, that translates to a net loss of capital that might have otherwise gone towards investment, expansion and worker's salaries. That is to say, a company's loss in one place means workers are going to lose their jobs somewhere else. When businesses lose money, they cut workers or stop hiring. Fewer workers means less taxes paid. Fidel stole from American corporations billions in 1960. The US slipped into a recession in 1960.
This man was responsible for thousands of murders in Cuba, responsible for family separations and putting Cuba in poverty. He died without been tried for this. He however is the perfect sample of what communism does to a country. Spoken from life experience and necessities that I lived in Cuba, while him and his family enjoy a life of abundance and health. The people that idolize him should live in Cuba where your kids would be given hungry.
Say what you want. He lets those people go without a gunshot He keeps the country stable and develop despite tens of thousands of santions from the USA Why don't you see your proud American presidents. Obama and Bush shoulf be trialed for the millions of life and family losses in Middle East The worst is that the bastards like got the Nobel Peace prize Castro is harsh but truthful, with common sense and real care for Cuban lives While American presidents in the 2000s are either war criminals or puppets of weapons company
We'll have to agree to disagree. re: free medical services in Cuba The Castros offer free medical services to the population on a limited basis. They can afford to do this because they own the doctors and the facilities. But it's not like Cubans can simply walk into any hospital or clinic at any time and have any procedure performed. Shortages of over-the-counter products also means that many minor health issues often become more serious.
thank you reyes herrera junior... 25 years passed, america still like to convince el numero uno socialista fidel castro to renounce socialism... fidel castro speak with principles forever...
The Cuban people are not suffering because of Fidel Castro, they are suffering because of an unjust and inhumane embargo on their island by the American Government for the past several decades. Cuba is a beautiful island with beautiful people. Walking in Havana, you are greeted with smiling faces and AMAZING hospitality. People in Cuba invite you into their homes and offer you what little they have. But even though they are poor, they are happy.

cultural context of a country is more important than political context of a country. That is why different religions and political systems are compatible for different areas.
He is like an abusive husband, it's all good for you, he will tell you how to live and what to say or else expect to be punished. To all those who think this guy is so good, please move to Cuba and enjoy his paradise. Freedom is the most precious part of life.
Fidel, generator of poverty for his people, generator of wealth for his family. Fidel was able to speak in the USA but in Cuba no opponent has the right to express himself. Fidel was a dictator, the result of his policy today bears fruit in a Cuba devastated by scarcity and repression.
the friendship amongst many democratic countries and the fact that they refuse to work economically with Cuba is the reason why Cuba doesn't have enough for its people, that's why people are suffering there, but the Cuban political stance of free education, healthcare, no to gambling, no to drugs, no to prostitution is very righteous in my opinion. Socialism is definitely not perfect but daemons that we are facing in the democratic world are surfacing and people are starting to question it.
@thatkindofguy234 you've probably been to Cuba as a tourist where they show you the hotels, nice beaches etc, stuff they show only to tourists that born cubans don't have access to, but I welcome you to cruise around the island and go to where the general population is and you will see the real Cuba, you will see hunger, young girls willing to sleep with you for food, people willing to die on a raft to come to the US, a lot of poverty, bad hygiene etc. It's very sad...
Sometimes people want to say "Well, people would rather live in the U.S. than Cuba. U.S. is capitalist, Cuba is socialist, therefor capitalism must be the best." The flaw there is that comparing the U.S. and Cuba is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. A better comparison might be Cuba and Haiti - they are roughly the same sizes, with the same type of resources, and similair histories. Now - which country would YOU rather live in?
MERCOSUR is an example of an organization that works. For instance, there is a program in which Cuba sends doctors to Venezuela and receive oil in exchange. Cuba has around 20,000 doctors abroad (as of 2006) in Africa and South America, helping the poor who cannot afford health care otherwise. That is a lot for a country of a population of 11 million. Cuba is surrounded by capitalism, that's why it cannot interact like an ordinary nation. Trotsky spoke of this dilemma and the world revolution.
Has anyone else noticed how these journalists when hammered on a specific issue ignore the response and just move on to the next question. He should have asked her if there are beggars on the streets of US cities. Also do Americans have free health care? The hypocrisy of the US is hilarious.
@AussieAustrianBlog I have visited Cuba 4 years ago and as I previously pointed out , in comparison to the rest of the region it is a very nice place to live in. However those who do decide to flee are usually those with a high level of education which they know they can put to good use in other countries for better pay. However same goes for all of Latin america , not just for Cuba. Furthermore I want to add that the world bank does conduct independent measures free from governmental sources.
I do. About the innovations (sorry for the interruption), it's a bit unfair to compare the world's leading economic empire and a third world nation. Last year, GDP per capita in the states was 47,440 $ [6th largest] and $9,500 $ in Cuba [107th largest]. What's greatest about Cuba is that despite all the obvious imperfections and human rights violations, they've still managed to organize social services that are internationally acclaimed. Cubans lead a healthier life than the North Americans.

Barbara Walters, the trailblazing television news broadcaster and longtime ABC News anchor and correspondent who shattered the glass ceiling and became a dominant force in an industry once dominated by men, died on December 30, 2022. She was 93.
The reporter seems really brainwashed.
Or she tries to brainwash viewers.
she's just a pond
Actually, she lowkey likes Castro according to some and she is the only American journalist to have a face to face interview with him.
Yes! Thank you for this, I’m cuban and it hurts that people think they know more about Cuba and Castro than we do!
This man was an hero 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Ushta! Brother - VIVA FIDEL!

He is so charismatic
A very admirable historical figure! The only Latin American figure who has stood up to the USA, most powerful nation in the world! Aqui, si hay cojones!! He would have had more respect had he lived and brought up his children like the rest of the Cubans, no luxuries!!!!
Fidel Castro dictator, liar and egomaniac.

Damn, I don’t agree with Fidel Castro but I do respect him. That was a good answer to the last question.
Wow, Castro knows his shit. Whether his arguments are good or not, he always finds something solid and hard to refute to say.

Arz2003 Everyone including you and me has both 2 groups of people, the people who love us and the people who hate us.
fidel openly supported the oppression against every innocent american , and trash talked his way into destruction wherever he went, as we have famously said : he personifies a tyrant. hes not even as tolerable as che is
Well, if you were born there and now that Castro is dead, maybe you should consider going back to Cuba.
+Tysons Accosta Well said !! We ll get rid of the lazy Gusano asses !
VIVA Castro. You will always have our support.
Some of you guys need to go live in Cuba for a year and see how that feels. Idc if you visited Cuba one time and stayed at a nice hotel. People say all types of crazy shit online. smh

Can Americans read? this video would be much better if there are subtitles instead of a voiceover
I can read.
Don't worry. Not all of us put up with the idiotic education system. I can read.
Probably not, but 95% of Cuba can
This sense of realism in interviews is almost a forgotten art. Today's interviews are lackadaisical satires and careful wordings and topics
Everything is a consequence, every nuance controlled and monitored.
FIDEL MY HERO! LONG LIVE FIDEL AND CUBA
Great leader Castro, he fought against USA imperialism
fuck you, your bitchass dont know wtf your talking ab
This man was responsible for thousands of murders in Cuba, responsible for family separations and putting Cuba in poverty. He died without been tried for this. He however is the perfect sample of what communism does to a country. Spoken from life experience and necessities that I lived in Cuba, while him and his family enjoy a life of abundance and health. The people that idolize him should live in Cuba where your kids would be given hungry.
This man is responsible for the existence of Cuba
Say what you want. He lets those people go without a gunshot
He keeps the country stable and develop despite tens of thousands of santions from the USA
Why don't you see your proud American presidents. Obama and Bush shoulf be trialed for the millions of life and family losses in Middle East
The worst is that the bastards like got the Nobel Peace prize
Castro is harsh but truthful, with common sense and real care for Cuban lives
While American presidents in the 2000s are either war criminals or puppets of weapons company
I wish all politicians were like Castro. Very Few would get elected!
We'll have to agree to disagree.
re: free medical services in Cuba
The Castros offer free medical services to the population on a limited basis. They can afford to do this because they own the doctors and the facilities. But it's not like Cubans can simply walk into any hospital or clinic at any time and have any procedure performed. Shortages of over-the-counter products also means that many minor health issues often become more serious.
Castro spitting facts
VIVA FIDEL ! I am English and I am going to Cuba in 3 days and I can't wait ! Viva la revolution
Why don't you just stay to live in Cuba if its so good?
he is a bad ass, i think he is not that bad person
thank you reyes herrera junior... 25 years passed, america still like to convince el numero uno socialista fidel castro to renounce socialism... fidel castro speak with principles forever...
Forever, My full respect to you Comrade Fidel!
Fidel Castro dictator, liar and egomaniac.
I wonder what was Fidel Castrol's reaction when he found out Trump became the next elect president of the United States
Arz2003 Probably what killed him.
or said that he can died in peace know that the US will hurt itself from the inside and showed that we will can do our own self inflicted injury
Arz2003 probably said well since the USA will have its own dictator now so it's time for me to go.

So I suppose you would rather tell others not to work hard in school and not to achieve anything? What kind of message is that?
I say work hard, study, do well in school (schooling is FREE in America throughout the 12th grade) and you can achieve ANYTHING and go to ANY school of your choosing!

GREAT, BARBARA WALTERS WELL SAID!
both system can work, the problem is central banking, the federal reserve. the people who lies and causes war.
the friendship amongst many democratic countries and the fact that they refuse to work economically with Cuba is the reason why Cuba doesn't have enough for its people, that's why people are suffering there, but the Cuban political stance of free education, healthcare, no to gambling, no to drugs, no to prostitution is very righteous in my opinion. Socialism is definitely not perfect but daemons that we are facing in the democratic world are surfacing and people are starting to question it.
Красавчик Мужик!
I can tell a lot of you commenting aren’t Cuban lol

Honor y Gloria eternos al Señor Teniente General Don Jorge Rafael Videla....!!!
Most journalists don't care about the issues, their goal is to shoot questions until they get the "Gotcha" moment.
DAMN RIGHT!
please do explain, I've always wanted to hear the point of view of an actual Cuban rather than the mainstream media.
