    I dug up an old yardadori boxwood with multiple trunks this fall which was supposed to be thrown away. What's your opinion on boxwoods, and shrubs in general as bonsai? I also have a lovely Exochorda The Bride in my garden with a thick trunk im considering digging up.

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Boxwood makes nice bonsai! I have a video on boxwood bonsai coming out this Sunday, so please check it out! You will have a beautify bonsai if you keep working on it.
      I googled Exochorda, which is the rosea family, same family as roses and apple trees. So that would work fine as a bonsai. Lucky you to have that! I suggest dig it in the fall or spring because it may not have much fibrous roots on top if it is at all like roses. Best wishes!

    I am interested Mr. Chang, What do you consider a biginer, an intermediate, professional, and master in Bonsai? Is it based on the amount of trees someone has in the refinement phase? Or simply the amount of years someone has spent in the art?

      I have seen bonsai masters with only a few very well kept trees, and also people who are junk collectors, maybe it stems from sympathy for terrible trees….So, it is NOT the number that matters, it is the skill.

    Here's a question. When taking a clipping off a tree is it best to trim the leaves and branches right back while your trying to get some root growth. Thanks.

    On Wiring: I have a branch where the wire has been buried already. Im afraid to remove them for fear of breaking the branch. Is it ok to leave the wire buried as the branch thickens? Thanks and more power!

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think the tree branch can grow so thick as to cover up the wire. If the wire is already buried, I suggest cutting off the branch and starting over with the clip and grow method.
