The first time I wore this in Molecule 02, my mom said I smelled like a wet basement. But I loved it! And I've never received as many compliments as I have with this fragrance. It's so wonderful.
Hi Dave, I've got some of this in crystal form. I believe the crystals shouldn't be diluted in ethanol as they are likely to recrystalise at lower temperatures? I've heard it recommended they are diluted in DEP. Are you planning on doing a video on solvents at all? The choices between perfumers alcohol, IPM, DPG, DEP etc etc are bewildering when wanting to dilute solid or liquid materials. It's difficult finding any real clarity on the subject on the internet. Most advice is "see for yourself what works" - not helpful when trying to dilute scores of different chemicals. Some ideas on what chemical properties (molecular weight, polarity etc etc) would require what type of solvent would be really helpful.😊
If you are using it ONLY for perfume spray then you can use DPG. But other diluents are used for candle and soap fragrance. I never use DEP. You can also use Benzyl Benzoate (some people do and some do not). The reason it is confusing is because it DEPENDS on the material (crystal /powder). Different ones call for different dilutant and amount. You have to look at each material individually. This is another reason it takes so long to learn perfumery.
@@DenverDave Thank you very much for your excellent advice. I'll have a go with DPG, as I'm not doing soap or candles. I think I might be investing in a good fragrance chemistry book too. Alex. love your channel.
Hello! Thank you so much! Ambroxan in powder form will NOT dilute in coconut oil. It is diluted to 40% in the liquid form in Augeo Clean Multi. It is a little bit difficult to break down for powder form.
Hi there and thanks for the review. 😁👍 I live over in the UK and after a good ambroxin, do they ship at all? And what would you suggest to layer aquatic freshie scents. Thanks
hello dear. i just wanna ask you if i can use ambroxen as a fixative ...would it make my fragrance last longer ,? and to what extent.. and if there is other substance more powerfull, please recommend me ...thanks in advance.
@@DenverDave Is it safe to use on synthetic perfumes ?, I want to add a fresh and minty feel to my perfume , i just bought crystal ambroxan..trying to dilute with alkohol
Hey Dave. I've been experimenting with using a larger number of Ambergris materials in an accord: Ambroxan, Cetalox, Amberwood, Grisalva, Fixateur 505E, etc. What's your opinion on Ambergris accords (for added complexity), as opposed to pure materials? Pros, cons? Recommended or not, or context-dependent?
Just seen this one - like it also - if I was to purchase the crystals about how many grams should I use to make 30ml (I do have a scale) - thanks in advance
So for a 1 ounce bottle, that will hold 24 g of volume. So you will want to do about 12 g of Ambroxan and 12 g of your liquid of choice, perfumers alcohol or Augeo clean multi or TEC
Hi Dave, first time writing to you. Just started learning. Seeing the joy on your face while smelling provoked me to ask if KAO brand of Ambroxan gives such joy or any brand of Ambroxan. KAO brand will be expensive for me plus shipping to Pakistan. Thanks bro...
I just subscribed. I was thinking about Good Smelling, yet weak performance scents (like Tommy Bahama-Set Sail St Bart) and was flirting with the idea of adding an ambroxan-like fixative to make it last longer. Would that work or is there another way? If it is doable, how much would you add to a 3.4 ml bottle? Thank you.
Hi Brian and welcome!!! One of the best fixatives that do not add much additional aroma is Hercolyn D. Ambroxan (KAO) will change the aroma quite a bit using just a small amount. There is no easy way to make a scent like you mention above to last longer without changing the aroma. But Hercolyn D can help! Glad you are here!!! Dave
For ambroxan I use perfumers alcohol. Dilute 40% by weight of ambroxan, 60% PA. You will have to gently heat in a water bath to dissolve the crystals. I almost never use DEP. Sometimes I will use benzyl benzoate.Dave
Dave... I am SUPER proud of you and we LOVE you! Love your tuberose! It's GORGEOUS! 💮💮💮💮💮

You are the Truman Capote of wonderful magical fragrances! Thankyou, I can almost smell them myself from your descriptions. ❤️😊
Hi Dave please give formula for Oud

you the best, i wish you have a course i can take for amber and oud.
What dilution is this ambroxan? I’m curious what dilution you use in perfumes
I dilute Ambroxan 5% to DPG 95%. Dave
Hi Dave! Your descriptions brings life to the scents! Could you dilute the powder in fractionated coconut oil for perfume oils?
Hello! Thank you so much! Ambroxan in powder form will NOT dilute in coconut oil. It is diluted to 40% in the liquid form in Augeo Clean Multi. It is a little bit difficult to break down for powder form.
Is it possible to use the liquid form in frac coconut oil? Will it separate or have binding issues?
It will blend perfectly! I just did to to make sure!
Thanks
How to increase silage and projections please?
Add true Aldehydes for silage and projection. Dave

I really like Floralozone for a fresh aquatic. And Adoxal

Ambrox has fixative properties to it but it’s not just a fixative because it does have an aroma that will be detected in your fragrance formula.

I was hoping to find out how to make ambroxan
It is made in a lab. You can purchase it as powdery crystals. Some places dilute it for you. Usually it is diluted to 20% Dave
Hi Dave,
5 grams of Ambroxine were in my mail today.
It came as a powder.
Should I solve it in Alkohol or DEP (Di-ethylftalaat)?
