    The primary purpose of learning from DK Yoo is to develop a sense of movement that fully utilizes the human body and its natural movements. Whether it's MMA, Muay Thai, Wing Chun or Boxing, developing speed and strength can only improve what you already have. This seems fairly obvious, but many key board warriors commenting here on how UFC fighters can beat up anybody is fairly obvious. MMA fighters in the UFC are athletes first and martial artists 2nd. No matter how much martial arts knowledge one may have, it most definitely won't be enough to defeat a person like Jon Jones, especially with a boost from designer steroids. Remember, superior physicality is just as important as martial arts skill. What DK Yoo is teaching is harnessing one's physicality to its optimum - what he isn't doing is claiming he can beat up anybody in the world - only keyboard warriors in the U.S. seem to have this need for all martial artists to prove themselves in the Octagon, which obviously is nonsense. Even without any martial arts, any random NFL linebacker will be able to beat up any lifelong martial artist to a pulp because of their physical dominance. Note - Jon Jones' brothers are in the NFL.

    In this video, it demonstrated how you can increase your punching power by twisting your joints from the bottom to the top of you shoulder ,by applying a kind of moving which can straighten your stand while punching ,called TG wave. The TG wave method is to punch while pushing your body away from the ground,and turning it left and right from the bottom of your toe.
    This set of movement can keep the center mass of one's body much more secure,therefor it can create more power for you while your punching.

    Curious, Dempsey said power came from using gravity in favor, in other words going down when jabbing... this is the contrary.

      Balihar Kaur I tried the punch and yes its is quite painful to the shoulder. Dk yoo punch relies on relaxation, bring more weight burden to the shoulder. In common punch muscles are in tension and thus protecting them from this but with less power.

      You probably hyper-extended your shoulder. Keep the shoulder tight in the socket when you punch, don't reach for the punch.

    No idea How to feel the energy

    • @csl9495
      @csl9495 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just know that it is nothing you will ever be able to feel without doing.
      You can't think or will it into manifestation.
      It takes physical practice and application, while keeping your mind on this specific concept.
      It is all muscle control and balance.
      This is such an advance concept that only through hours and hours of dedication to the tedious things that you will discover it.
      I suggest start with basic foot work. Foot work going foward, back, sides, etc. If you feel unstable and sloppy, sir, you will never achieve this feeling. Only when you achieve stability and balance within your stance and movement will you be able to feel that energy and control it without it slipping out of your grasp.
      Again this energy is balance, more precisely it is the ability to feel and shift your weight, through the movement you create.
      Obviously being able to transfer that energy from the ground, through your lower body, through the core, torso, though the length of your arms out the knuckles of your fist... will be your next progression... again all about correct posture and stance, the basics.
      Trust me this will make you hit so much harder that if you're untrained, when land a punch the impact would even rattle you, and be sort of painful. Haha that's how you know you've done it correctly. It's all fast twitch muscle man, that's why DK is always soooo jumpy or twitchy, because he's developed that... you won't be able to do this if you don't develop that, but of course start slow and progress from there.

    hi could someone describe to me what the 7 joints that are mentioned in the video are? that part confused me and its left me with a road block
    and if you do understand the helical "flow" in the body, could you explain that too? is it sort of like 2 pillars in your body? or is it supposed to be one? is it similar to the flicker jab he has taught in the videos before?

    Wat exercises should one do for speed?

    • @darkphantom454
      @darkphantom454 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the hips/pelvis are the pillar of this system - which it is - it would make sense to strengthen this part of the body (as well as every other part of your body). Start with your core and move upwards and downwards. Squats, lunges, jumps and calf raises (to strengthen the feet) would be done on leg days to solidify the core. Try to incorporate exercises that build the gluteus maximus, medius and minimus - plenty of videos on TH-cam on this. Other days, back rows, lat pulls, shoulder exercises such as lateral raises, and shrugs to strengthen the upper body. I have had positive results over the past year with this regimen with my students - it works. Punching, kicking and grappling power and speed have improved tremendously with a solid core and the techniques shown by DK Yoo. It works - try it.

      I think that's a common misconception people have; especially, here on TH-cam. I have nothing but respect for any professional fighter but there is a significant difference between competitive fighting and martial arts. The two can co-exist but one does not define the purpose of the other.

    • @Fuu_Sho
      @Fuu_Sho 7 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Lobo Ken i totally agree, UFC fighters learn to fight with rules they are sportsmen, but guys like DKyoo basically train to survive in a real fight were you can get killed and everything is allowed. Secondly i really hate it when people (mostly americans) think that the people who fight in the UFC are automatically "the best" fighters on earth, thats such big nonsense.

    • @sugarsaint
      @sugarsaint 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lobo Ken what kind of bullshit are you trying to say? please elaborate...

    • @joeb.3388
      @joeb.3388 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I have no doubt UFC fighters or any professional fighter would be able to take care of themselves regardless of rules but that's not what I meant when I said purpose. Martial Arts promotes the cultivation of one's potential and instilling harmony in mind, body, and spirit. A lot of people, especially westerners seem to equate Martial Arts with physical conflict only. The whole purpose of practicing is to be capable enough to avoid and if need be handle such situations. The physical art of combat is but one aspect. Samurais, for example, considered flower arranging a form of Martial Arts and a staple to their warrior code Bushido. Why? Because not only is it about the body but also mind and spirit. Harmony was sought in both physical and internal. This is the point I think a lot of people miss. There's nothing wrong with competition but there is no obligation that the two go hand in hand. If fighting is all that matters then you're left with just that; someone who can fight. And so what? A bullet through either heart ends in red and a deathbed.
      "Ultimately martial arts means, honestly expressing yourself. Now, it is very difficult to do. I mean, it is easy for me to put on a show and be cocky and be flooded with a cocky feeling and like feel pretty cool and all that. Or I can make all kinds of phony things, you know what I mean, blinded by it. Or I can show you some really fancy movement. BUT, to express oneself honestly not lying to oneself, and to express myself honestly, now THAT my friend, is very hard to do." - Bruce Lee

      Look him up ... his speed and power are tremendous. Also he goes around the world demonstrating. Hes also teach combat for South Korean army.
      Most of his demonstration around the world are done with random volunteers.

    • @hailshonny
      @hailshonny 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He is not fake... My mma coach teaches similar concepts but in terms of mma. My kickboxing coaches in terms of kickboxing.
      Judo is all about efficient power generation with leverage and kuzushi.
      Every single decent jiujitsu gyms are all about leverage and movement.
      My boxing coach from my teen years taught similar concept..... ie how to generate power from your core with relaxed and efficient movement.
      You don't need to see someone fight to know he is a good teacher. Once you understand what functional martial art is all about, you can tell the legit ones from fake ones.
      I will give you a hint. Good coaches are generally good at articulating complex concepts.

    Lol this is what happens when you don't properly learn anatomy/biomechanics and try to explain a physical movement to other people. What the hell is a tg wave???? Spin your joints in a helical form?? What? I'm gonna try to simplify what he is saying a bit more scientifically. Punching motion is essentially a series of internal rotations at each joint. When you achieve the relaxation state (minimal conscious postural control) you have no hindrance at each joint, allowing a fluid motion (muscle contractions) that utilizes the GRF (ground reaction force - this is what he means to pull from the ground.) in the most optimal way possible with a given physical frame. It's about how well you transfer the force generated against the ground (with your weight and bending of knees, etc) to the target joint.

    • @madmonster3812
      @madmonster3812 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      leenovich Bro it's not as simple as that, he practice meditation and says you need to do it to be able to feel what he feel, look at his other videos... He calls it "inner wave power"

    • @joeb.3388
      @joeb.3388 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's something called Chong Jang Gong. I'm not too familiar with it either but he does state that it has to be developed in order to use the energy in the same manner he does. I actually find those videos the most interesting out of all his content. The clip of him resisting a dozen guys while they're all pushing him is pretty mind blowing. Oh and the chair lifting ones... I have him to blame for the hours I wasted sitting on the floor failing to pick up a chair lol.

    • @leenovich
      @leenovich 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mad Monster no. Simply put, with the right mechanism of training, you can still achieve his state without meditation. The effects of meditation is maximized once you have reached the relaxation state. Behind all the facade of fancy words and seemingly complicated movement hypothesis, is a simple biomechanical truth which ties into the muscle length-tension relationship and the efficient transfer and distribution of power. When there is a clear set of language available to explain physical movements, you should use it so the information doesn't get lost in translation. If you have a global following, it is your responsibility to learn this universal language to use it as much as possible to explain what you came up with. Tg wave? Helical joint spinning? What is that? Who is gonna know what he's talking about?

    • @leenovich
      @leenovich 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      gktjq149 7 what is nae-ab? It is not some mystical force. You can explain it with science, so scientific approach should work just as well if not better than DK's methods. Watch his movements. The biggest difference between him and other people are the accurate acceleration and stopping power. Why use scientific language? So that everyone can develop the idea further and that the conceived ideas be shared with people with similar interests. Why make something easy hard to understand?

    • @duh938
      @duh938 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dude~ your actually super accurate in your description, but the thing is, i can you put it into practical use even if you can understand the mechanics, physics and how the body will work?
      the reason why he has named things is because these things truly are because they are felt
      no one can just understand through just watching, nor just listening, nor just doing
      to truly understand something, you have to experience. but not through others, through yourself and your own body. and to do that requires practice and effort to understand your own body and bodily structure
