This was a beautiful location Shizuka. My favorite place was where the older gentleman made everything from scratch. I wish these videos were a lot longer I enjoy them so much. Shizuka you are wonderful.
Okutama appears to be a treasure trove of hidden gems! Doing a nature hike and having some of that roast beef and fresh wasabi sounds like a perfect day ☺️
Heavenly country , you never bored with japan always something new and surprises , I found serenity calm and peaceful in the country side . I first visit japan in 2017 when I retired and then every year since .
All very cool, but I really liked the curry/coffee/cheesecake guy who moved from the hustle and bustle of the city. He seems like a calming and kind man and his place had a calm presence. We need more people in the world like him.
Thanks JbF and host Ms. Shizuka once again...there is a nostalgic feeling of these locations especially the Tamado restaurant always nice to see these hidden gems.
Shizuka-san is always so fun to watch 🥰 She's so adorable ❤ Loved watching this video and it's so informative for us 😮✨Got to know alot from it 😊 Thank you so much for the wonderful video 🙏🏻 God bless everyone!!!
Your passion for food and your reactions Shizuka are so enjoyable to watch! The country side of Tokyo can easily be home; away from the hustle and bustle of city living….
I was so mesmerized by the beauty of it all I forgot it was Tokyo until it was mentioned again, would love to get a taste of the serene views and that amazing food
This looks like such a tranquil area to just get out from the big city for a while. What a cool and inspiring tour from David's wasabi to the food by Hashizume. Would love to visit when I get the opportunity.
Okutama is also Tokyo. To begin with, the western half of Tokyo is entirely covered in forests and mountains, so it's not even on maps. Even foreigners and Japanese people who don't know much about Tokyo will be surprised to learn this fact. Be careful of bears.
A fellow Aussie living close to (beautiful) nature in Japan and yet less than one hour (by personal drone or maybe fast bike...) from Shinjuku, awesome (lucky %$#^...) Those views from Dorapo Blue are just bonkers. And it's all still Tokyo! 😶 Thanks team, refreshing vlog
Quite the surprise to see that kind of natural beauty in Tokyo! The last stop on your journey seemed to be the most intriguing. Wow! Egg omelet served with sake, and don’t think anyone could beat that pumpkin cheesecake and coffee.😋
Wasabi goes really well with fatty tuna and marbled wagyu beef. A bowl of rice with shaved bonito flakes and wasabi topped with a light drizzle of soy sauce is also great.
I haven't had any fun lately, 😭 so it was fun. You bring me joy!❤🙂I love the kind and generous heartwarming atmosphere that you create, your kind, easygoing, warm vibe. ❤I like the essence how you live on. I need to be true to myself and find a job I am passionate about. I want to find a way to live as who I really am.
Omg what a great day out! Would love to try that cheesecake at Dorapo Blue, the owner and his cafe have such a pleasant atmosphere. You truly are an amazing presenter Shizuka, very natural in front of the camera, many professional presenters could learn allot from you.
These are hidden gem places. Would love to visit on my trip in two weeks, and get away from the city. Just worried about communication for us who aren't fluent. Enjoyed the video.
Love places like this when I visit Japan but most don't have an English menu which makes it hard to enjoy their food. If the places you visit have English menus, it would be nice to see them in the video.
Don't forget the Pacific Tokyo islands including World Heritage Ogasawara Islands that are as far away as Okinawa as well as quirky islands like Aogashima.
Shizuka, you forgot to say “our next hidden gem in Okutama Cave. Come on let’s go check it out!” It’s not food though. ❤ the videos. We live here in Tokyo and get a lot of foody inspiration from your channel. Keep it up!👍 Recommend doing something in Tachikawa
Can't mistake that Aussie accent. What a wonderful insight into the work of Australian wasabi farmer on the outskirts of Tokyo.
He is a great guy!
I love how you not only show all the amazing food but also the area as well. I love your outfit too!
I think what I love most about this video is that it challenges our notion of what Tokyo is - a mix of rural and urban spaces.
Yes! There is more to Tokyo than just the streets of Shibuya and Shinjuku!
I really love to see the passion all these people have for the area and the food they provide. 💖
Shizuka-"Oh no! Don't put bugs in my hand." Love it 🤣.
Funny old man 😅
wish it was me, i love nature bugs
it was a tiny crab anyways lol

We love that one too!

It really is!! This was actually one of my favorite shoot experiences I think! 🙌🏼🥰 So peaceful!
Most anticipated moment of the week! Thanks for introducing us to Okutama Shizzy!
Our pleasure!

That last shop's food plate was so aesthetically pleasing to look at.
All very cool, but I really liked the curry/coffee/cheesecake guy who moved from the hustle and bustle of the city. He seems like a calming and kind man and his place had a calm presence. We need more people in the world like him.
He was so nice, kind and fun to talk with!
I loved the wasabi farm, and that pumpkin cheesecake looked magnificent.
Thanks JbF and host Ms. Shizuka once again...there is a nostalgic feeling of these locations especially the Tamado restaurant always nice to see these hidden gems.
Dorapo Blue look soooo good! Love the scenary!
It was sooo cool!

Thank you so much for the wonderful video 🙏🏻
God bless everyone!!!
Thank you very much for watching!
Drove there with my Japanese friends a few years back.. You know you're in the wilds when you see "beware of bears" signs.. 😁
Yep, that makes it very clear :D
Your passion for food and your reactions Shizuka are so enjoyable to watch! The country side of Tokyo can easily be home; away from the hustle and bustle of city living….

Can't wait to hopefully visit some of these places

I'm so jealous. Travel around beautiful Japan trying delicious foods. What an awesome job to have!
It really is!

It ain't Monday, until I watch Shizuka chan 😂
Another great vid!
Appreciate that!
Roast beef & wasabi ? Great idea ! I’ll think about that next time I want a sandwich 😊
Wasabi goes really well with fatty tuna and marbled wagyu beef. A bowl of rice with shaved bonito flakes and wasabi topped with a light drizzle of soy sauce is also great.
It is really comforting that it doesn't' matter which part of the world you are in, you will see an Ikea plastic plate/cup set! Even in Tokyo!
:D
Thank you this was great, definitely on my must do list, coming to Tokyo soon ❤
Please do visit!
Great beautiful place and it shine ✨ everywhere Shizuka is at, and both places the food looks so delicious😋.
Try it again, try it again, try it again. Brilliant!
Cool guy!

What a beautiful area!
You would never suspect you were close to Tokyo!
Right?! It is an absolute gem!
It truly is!@@JapanbyFood
Shizuka Anderson “❤”I love it ,🧏🏻♂️
That is the most natural like wasabi farm I have seen.
It was super authentic!

The cheesecake was simply amazing!!!
Looks amazinggg
As a tourist, I would go to the popular places. But as a local, these places would be great to escape the hustle. 😊
Both places are totally worth exploring!
Never had real Wasabi, would love to try it😮
Wasabi leaves are actually very nice...
I Always Love your show and how you show Japan! I wish when I visit you could be My Guide!😂
I would love to farm wasabi!
Awesome!!
You are!
These are hidden gem places. Would love to visit on my trip in two weeks, and get away from the city. Just worried about communication for us who aren't fluent. Enjoyed the video.
Body language and google translate usually work surprisingly well!

Shizuka flexing her muscles for the job!
She did great!
Try it again… great video Shizuka
It kept on going!:D
Don't forget the Pacific Tokyo islands including World Heritage Ogasawara Islands that are as far away as Okinawa as well as quirky islands like Aogashima.
You Bring a smile to my whole being.
Domo’ ✨🤗✨
Thank you for watching!
david is totally ready for a shinobi mission with that sick kama
And the way he swatted away that fly?!

Going cycling from lake Okutama to Ome in december. Hope no snow at that time. 🙏🙏
Shizukaaaaaaa
The Aussie guy with fresh wasabi 💚
And that pumpkin cheese cake looked so DAM a good!!!!! 👅👍🏻
All super yummy !
Another fun and informative Shizuka vlog
The question is how much Timmies dis you bring home from BC ?
I’m going there for the pumpkin cheesecake! 🤤
Hope you like it!
Another great video, mahalo
Our pleasure!
Her "wow" reminds me of owen wilson
Wow! That’s Tokyo? Is there any hotels there in Okayama?
I am planning a trip to Japan next year Shizuka would be great if you can show me the best places to eat while I am there.
I’m all about that tamago and sake! 😋
Same!
Oooh Noooooo....
You didn't mention "Itadakimasu" before taking the food.... 😢😢😢
Wow i didn't know that wasabi growns on the riverside not in the actual farm
Horseradish and roast beef is a classic combo in UK
Is it? We had no idea!
@@JapanbyFood are you taking the mick 😅
How is the weather in Japan currently? is it still giving summery vibes?
Mornings and evenings are much cooler but it is still quite hot during the day, at least in Tokyo area.
❤S H I Z U K A❤
Shizuoka Anderson
凄いな!外国の人ってもう奥多摩まで探し出したのね?
I love you ❤
💕
Nah I've seen this the first time lol tis time I'm just going full city life
Shizuka, it was short-sleeved, but wasn't it cold?
We filmed this about a month ago so it was actually a very hot day! Takes a bit of time to edit 😅
Thank you for your reply
That looked like a crab, not a bug haha
Wonder what the Wasabi farmer David do during Winter ?
Gotta ask :O
i think you guy know each other , i seen him .
someone stareing at me the whole time, maaybe have a sink. and pretend to do dishes.
Mate found a home in Japan..
Natural wasabi is way better than the one in a toothpaste tube that are sold at the supermarket.
Shizuka, say it like this: wok a moli. That's how it is supposed to sound. Carry on.
Is Dorado Blue suitable for English only speakers? I wish you'd clarify this in your video as there's no point in me visiting if I struggle to order!
You will need a Google translate:)
ok, I can't say I dislike Tokyo anymore lol
Yay! We are glad!
In 1967 1969 Wasabi was like 100 yen ea. Yen was then 360 to a doller. Wow😂
sake
What a beautiful place and the cafe!
Absolutely!
Who is THEY? I prefer not showing pristine or secret spots as they would certainly become Unsecret, crowded and not so pristine.😊
Thank you for coming!
Wasabi not for me😊😊
