I love that it's family-owned. I love the cozy comfort. No gimmicks, or crazy luxury, just a nice, slow-paced place to actually unwind. It seems a good place for an extended stay, honestly.

How incredible that the inn is so well maintained and has been kept by one family for 19 generations! You can tell how much love and pride they have for it with how the owner wanted to give you a tour when there was an opportunity.

ここぞ日本の旅館と言う気がします。素朴な料理がズラリ美味しそうです。鮎の塩焼きが見ていて食べたくなりました。幼少の頃祖父が川で取ってきた鮎を串に刺し囲炉裏で塩焼きにしてくれました。ピクピク動く鮎を見て可哀相と言って泣いたのを覚えています。泣いた本人が何匹もおかわりするので祖父が大笑いしていたのを思い出しました。いいですね。こんな記憶が蘇って来る場所へ旅行したいですね。いつまでもこんな素敵な旅館を後世に残して欲しいと思います。有難うございます。😊

Ruined it for me too. Unnecessary suffering caused. Until that point it reminded me of a buddhist temple video. Except they only eat vegetarian food. As it should be.

The Ryokan is very beautiful and the landscape is so relaxing.
Felt sorry for the fish though. I just hope it already suffocated before it was served & it was just the nerves still moving. Dead fish‘s nerves can move quite long.
But that’s why I‘m a vegetarian because I feel sorry for animals suffering. People who eat meat need to be aware that pigs, cows etc. are suffering too for food. Or the fish is suffering too when people go fishing. However I couldn’t watch a fish moving while roasting.

Seeing that plum sake reminded me of a dumb thing I did years ago.
Back when I lived in Canada, I took my mother to a Japanese restaurant. At one point I ordered a bottle of sake because I never tried it before, and I was curious. Well, what I didn't do was check the price of said bottle of sake, which ended up being $40, which *then* bumped the bill up from a $40 dollar meal to an $80 meal.
Edit: Also, as gruesome as it is seeing live fish cooked that way, I also thought it was kinda fascinating since I've seen fish prepared that way in anime, but I assumed they were dead when cooked 🤔
Are they not? I thought it just moves as like different parts expand or shrink when heat-prepped because they're on a stick and not flat...
The fish were alive while skewered and cooked.

都民の森からバスが来ないので数馬まで歩いた時、旅館の前を通りました。こんな感じなんですね。素晴らしいですね😊。
魅力的な宿ですね。東京都とは思えない。
鮎の甘露煮で母が作るアマゴの甘露煮を思い出しました。私の実家の四国に行くと、渓流釣り趣味の夫がアマゴを釣って来るので、せっかくだから美味しく食べたいと、母が七輪を購入し、炭で塩焼きを食していたのですが、大漁の時は七輪で素焼きしたものを甘露煮にしてくれ、美味しくいただきました。
そんな時間も思い出させてくれる映像でした。

Das ist nur zum Teil zutreffend. Zum Einen ist hier die Eindeckung nicht so dick, zum Anderen wird auch viel mit Reet gearbeitet.
