Done this on my Clio. Same d4f but petrol. I used a 7mm drill bit for my flywheel coz an 8 wouldn't go through the whole. I fucked up tho. Didn't locate the crank pulley properly, went to start it, locator slot on the pulley cracked and it went wonky. £260 later for new crank pulley and auxiliary belts with new tensioner for the air con, which won't be done till Tuesday, but I hope nothing else is fucked coz I didn't have the pleasure of the engine being out of the car. Engine crane and mount will be acquired at some point to make it all a lot easier. It's taking off the covers that's the hard part coz there's no clearance and those top cover bolts take sooooo long to take out manually.
"tighten the water pump bolts in this order (proceeded to helpful picture of order) and to the correct torque" instead of actually telling us what is correct you show a flash of your manual and say "it will be written in here somewhere" up until that point this video would have made my helpful list but a bonehead move like that moves to my trash list.

A funking French joke replacing water pump on this engine
Certainly easier out the car!
Is it necessary to remove the engine in order to change the timing belt ?
Not necessary but the T50 needed on tensioner is very tight with it in engine bay.
I’m about to find out
