Everybody do your kids a favor and have family traditions. Our family plays board games it wasn't optional at some point you can role your eyes and have a blah attitude but your part of the family and your doing it. I got pulled thru it so did my siblings and all of us came back around and are glad our family didn't let us opt out of family activities. Now as an adult I still love board games we don't play all the same ones but we do play together with my parents, the grand kids and its bounds to the family across generations. Maybe your family cooks on a certain holiday, go for hikes, ext what ever it is pick your family values and drag your kids thru them. Having lost 3 grandparents in 3 years all my aunts and uncles could get together and grieve while sharing in group activities that their family have done for generations. Give kids connection to those that came before them and go after them

Gosh the fathers voice 🙁. Poor guy, more than anything he sounds heartbroken to realize his baby girl is 13. It’s okay man, keep your head up. Try your hardest if your wife is possible to be on the same team. Parenting nowadays is so different to when I was a kid in the 90’s/ early 2000’s.

What I'm hearing is that she had a smart phone because her two year older friend had one and her parents frantically tried to put the genie back in the bottle.... Kids don't need smart phone. Period. End of story.

Yeah young kids don’t need smart phones, it’s just too much “input” from the World and they just aren’t there yet mentally/emotionally to handle. And Dr John, I’d never send you angry internet letters 😂

The 13 yr. likely has more she is hiding and is scared of the consequences and maybe scared of what her parents are going to think of her if they find out what she has done. Sounds like her experimenting with adulthood could be getting out of control, even in her own eyes. Especially since her friends are older.
It is time to talk and really get to the bottom of things. It may take multiple conversations…. Bake them bread together every week… take her grocery shopping every time … maybe even be able to expand on those.
She will hate the lock down (no phone etc.) but deep down inside some part of her will be glad her parents kept her safe and kept the world she is not yet ready for, from taking over too much. Best wishes … and the best thing about it all is … you have a starting place of finding out all that’s going/gone on.

I know that I pushed the boundaries when I was young but when I got to my later teens I found I was terrified of what was ahead in adulthood. Her parents doing what is hard to keep her safe will reap rewards.

Ugh… I’d have a real hard time feeling warm & fuzzy after any type of infestation, but I’m a little phobic about that! lol

No government pays for anything. Governments don't earn money. All they do is take money from some people and give it to other people.
