Hi, Christine! I have Bachelor degree in Business informatics. I received an offer for the data consultant job position. Could you tell me which technical skills I need and if any programming is required for this type of job?
A good start is looking at the job description but you could also ask the people that interviewed you too! Data consultant is very vague so you might need some programming or you might not need it at all! As a consultant, you find projects to get staffed on so it’s also possible that you can just find projects that currently suit your skillset OR go for training (which consulting firms have a lot of) and upskill on parts you’re not comfortable with!
Consulting was the worst year of my live/career. I'm guessing it varies project to project, but my god working with consultants from other agencies on the same project was the worst experience of my life.

Even when I was at Accenture and I worked with other consultants from other firms on the same project, I didn’t find it beneficial haha. So much drama and politics!

It depends! Majority if you have experience you’re good, but in the eyes of the client, they think certifications in TECH means you at least KNOW what you’re talking about and not doing this on the fly or not in best practices. Also, if I was certified in a field but have no experience (like as a college/uni student), it has gotten me projects simply because I am certified. Of course we have mentors that are experienced, but it just helps you get over the starting point and adds some credibility. So at least it gives me a way in!

Haha, certifications definitely still help, though. In tech, for experienced hires, they may expect you to have the know-how but otherwise you’re back to square one. Like if you’ve been doing Oracle and now you want to do SAP. Different animal. Also, at least at Accenture, if we see you’re certified, you have a much higher chance getting in since you save the company money but also they know where you would fall in the organization - especially if it’s a strategic growth area.

You can go to another consulting discipline, another consulting firm, to the client side doing what you were doing as a consultant (what we call internal consultants), to the actual industry you've mostly worked in, any tech company, an IT team in any company, venture capital, a startup or entrepreneurship. SO many! Some even retire to become an independent consultant (work your own hours) for clients just to kill time and make a little income.
Hi, I’m really wanting to get into cyber consulting. How would I go about getting involved. What certifications should I go after with an associate degree in computer science.
When you say cyber consulting, do you mean cyber security consulting? There are a lot of security certifications that can help a lot and employers desire so I would definitely look into the areas you are interested in and have high trends! They tend to be more technical so I would be prepared for that! I would suggest you to network with other cybersecurity professionals and see what they recommend and even look at job listings and see what they look for to see real time what the market is looking for!
Security is a very niche area, I wouldn’t be able to help you in that area, but I would focus on the subject matter area of cyber security and go from there. The consulting part would show through your soft skills and experience/project based work!

Salesforce consultant, and I did it for 3-4 months but not as long to actually take the certification. You should definitely try to do some networking with some Accenture consultants in the office nearest to you! If Accenture hires from your school, make sure to hit up the campus recruiter and build a relationship with him or her!
On trailhead collecting badges is the only thing I can do for now but no certification. I am trying to add workers from Accenture on LinkedIn because that only possible way to contact people from there . Can you please make a video on the interview of Accenture as intern and what to prepare for before interview.. what kinda of questions to expect and how you will get hired ??
You can use my videos on how I got my job at Accenture. Unfortunately, I didn’t come in as an intern, but it’s exactly the same way to prepare for it as the full time job minus the case interview.
Note that some intern interviews may include case interviews as it varies, so it’s good to prepare for that as well. I hear different accounts on some given behavioral and case interviews and some given only behavioral interviews. Better to be prepared in both!

I want to add that you do NOT need a specific degree or major to become an IT consultant. Just having transferable skills, experience, and knowledge works. It is an uphill battle because you have to spend more time doing self study but it does work.
