- It was my idea to do this for promotion. To run down the controls/ features of the new Fisher detectors coming out. Here is the new F5. many attempts have been made to duplicate this idea (in many different languages, etc). I had removed this, but after many, many requests here it is again. The original got over 4000 in just a couple months.....

I have had my Fisher f5 for almost 7 years. Finally getting back into it after 2 kids and a 5 year lapse from metal detecting. Great video, thanks for the refresher! Hitting up north central Mass tomorrow. Hoping to find something other than iron lol.

my personal opinion..Works best for me in Penna..We go all winter!!!no weeds,virgin ground in winter

I love my F5. Does well in every type of soil I've been in and frequently hits 9+ inches. Great on old homesteads.

I love mine,best I ever used.I got the 5 inch round fisher coil via friends advice.Here in Penna,targets multi in close proximity and the small coil separates well yet still see's as deep as the stock 10 inch,yet for side cliffs along crick,in close to stump's,between rock's,it's perfect.Best finds so far (many) but 1849 seated half dime and 186o Douglas johnson election token..Hot on dimes and Pennies.Love them!!!Great video,explains well..Here,terrain changes on one property often time's.I reset my ground balance often.
Got my F5(and a Garrett Pro-Pointer) two days ago, my first detector ever. The instruction booklet is pretty difficult to follow for a complete novice. Watching this video........it all began to make sense so I cant wait to familiarise myself with it and get hunting !!!!!!

I wish it was my job, but just a hobby. Best find so far was the 5-figure slave tags that were featured on the 1999 "Antiques Roadshow". I almost topped that recently with a 15K bottle but it was broken :(

i like the F5 with the big numbers, etc. I wanna get another one. I sold that one too fast cause I already had an F70, F75 & T2
I own an f5 , and use it alot !! I also own and use a Whites DFX , another great detector . The f5 is simple to operate and set up . ground balance is a breeze ....I just used it at a beach , found a mood ring witch turned out to be silver !! it finds stuff 6 to 8 inches the same as my whites !! Just remember if your looking for gold rings you will have to dig up the pull tabs too . they have about the same profile !! Have fun hunting
@afsbt Hello from Italy :-D I suggest to sweep over the searchcoil another golden ring and to see his target id, so you will learn approximatively the range of "gold" of your metal detector.... unfortunately on many detectors you cannot discriminate alluminium tabs without rejecting gold also... so if you are searching for gold, be prepared to dig aluminium and bottlecaps too :-)

Excellent Review and Walkthrough! My F2 just went wonky on me, so it's going back to Amazon. I'm not angry though, because now that I know I really enjoy metal detecting, I am going for the F5. This video really explained quite a bit to me. I'll be going for the 11 inch DD coil with this setup, so hopefully it'll be quite a difference from the F2 I had with the 8 inch. I'm very excited to get back over to where I've had luck with the F2, to see what I've missed!
It looks like the Discovery 3300 I found a lot of good stuff the only downside was the expensive 9 volt batteries but my wife got me free batteries from work lol

Like this machine, even so much I might upgrade to it, but one concern I have is it looks like my big thumbs when I pin point will touch the knobs to the right and left of it?

After you dial a match with the 'ground balance dial', do you press the 'phase lock button'? Or what does the phase lock button do? Otherwise nice instructional video. thx
hold the phase lock button and pump the coil up and down from the ground 3 times and release the phase lock while pumping. This should automatically set the ground balancing. you can fine tune the balancing with the knob after.
My ground balance knob pushes in and out like it is a button, but I don't see what it does. Anyone have an idea of what it does, or how it works?
Do you still dig everything since you can see a Target ID? I just bought one from kellyco for $500 with free accessories. It was backordered for 3 weeks and they tried to talk me into a Minelab xterra 505, but I saw this video and know it is worth the wait. It will be here by the weekend finally.
My one question is this. Can you get your finger on the pinpoint button when using it left handed? It would seem that you'd hit the nobs when trying to hit the pinpoint button. Thanks man!
IN THE ALL METAL MODE, THE ID NUMBERS STILL ARE DISPLAYED. ALTHOUGH THERE IS JUST ONE TONE. YOU CAN CHOOSE WHICH TONE.
YOU CAN INSTANTLY GROUND BALANCE BY PUMPING & PUSHING THE PHASE BUTTON.

is 8 khz enough? a lot of the other detectors have like 13 khz, and the gold detectors have even more
nice video, but as a newly interested person I would like to know how deep can f5 detect? is the battery rechargeable? Thanks.
mine keeps beeping rusty nails and aluminium cans and trash at a high tone so its really confusing
Unfortunately cans will always be a high tone on every detector as they are high conductivity

Hi..Just got my first metaldetektor..The F5..i just wounder if FE-FOIL-TAB and Zink is trashe ? My grandmother lost her golden wedding ring,How do i sett the F5 to find her ring .

considered a mid-range detector- probably $500-$600. You can do a google search & see...

yup! I've not experienced that issue, just three different F5's to finally decide the pinpoint feature on most of them is a titch flaky

One must memorize the instructions.6months and trait's were just finally adding up to me from what I learned reading instructions.So much one can do with this unit. If not responsive,may have Scrim to high.Or boxed out items.Im going on season 3 with this unit and Have a binder FULL,have spent lots of clad,lots of jewelry,Amazing !!!THANKS FISHER!!!
