hi Jack, finally found a video talking about photography with zv1! I am looking at this camera to serve as a b cam and also sharing use with my partner which she specifically use for taking photos closeup beauty shots. do you have any experience or knowledge how this camera performs for closeup beauty shots? and how is it compared to a fuji camera in terms of color, crispyness, and whatnot, which in my knowledge was more preferred for makeup artists doing closeup beauty shots? thank you if you could give a respond for this, it'd be very much appreciated. cheers

I'm an absolute amateur, I don't vlog yet and I take photos occasionally - now at least. I came from a superzoom Sony HX60, I just needed an upgrade. @@tf9888 I don't use it as often as I normally should. I just shoot in auto mode, if I had to shoot in some manual settings, I am too lazy to learn. I also bought a Samsung Galaxy S23+ which makes perfect photos. However, whenever I shoot with the ZV-1 you can tell the difference. Video is also great, however stabilization could be better. So I am in a dilemma if I need it at all. I don't vlog so it's probably useless to carry around as a travel camera. Maybe I'll keep for my son.

I was choosing between this one, Ricoh GR and ZV-E10. And ended up getting ZV-E10. IMO there is a substantial difference in image quality from apsc sensor vs 1 inch sensor, especially in low light. Plus, you get interchangeable lens, in the same, pocket size form factor, and the same kind of point and shoot experience. You can get very portable with something like Ttartisan 27 2.8, but if you want shallow depth of field, you can carry extra lens, something like 50 0.95 which also come quite small compared to full frame analogs. So far, works pretty well as an everyday pocket camera setup for a street photography.

I think this camera is pretty slick. That lens is basically the same as the rx100 va, with a built in ND filter that can be toggled on and off and is also the fastest lens in the RX line up with the newer brains of the rx100 mark vii in the body.
The only 2 things I wish it had was an EVF and a long distance for those telephoto shots. I think the speed will beat out any smartphone camera to get those shots "at the right time". But let me know you thoughts :)

Love your style in presenting. Noob question - I took this out to a restaurant last week and I took photos of my food.. 90% came back blurry. Now, I didn't press the screen to zoom in but I thought it would auto focus (I have set it on auto mode camera). I'm a simple guy and I'm not a big photo guy, just want things to work (like my phone did). Do you have any recommendation as to what to do here? Should I do manual mode? I really just want to keep it on auto (because I want to keep it simple). Or should I do auto with the pressing the screen to focus?

    • @JackWoodhams
      @JackWoodhams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Jason
This is why I use flexible spot via manual mode. On your focus options there will be stuff like wide, centre, etc. Go for flexible spot then manually adjust it with the dial. This will ensure better focus otherwise it'll just focus on what it thinks is best. As far as I know this also works on the AV, TV modes etc so you can still shoot mostly auto.
Thanks so much for the compliment I'm so glad you're liking my videos. 🙏

Isn't it shame that these camera brands don't produce cameras with better image stabilization than i phone for videos ? I watched some reviews. I could not find better compact camera than i phone at videos. I expect well-established companies that specialize in camera production to produce better all-in-one cameras than just a smart phone. Maybe their company strategy is to produce components for phone companies by neglecting compact cameras.

The iPhone isn't better. Too much internal sharpening, sketchy HDR effects and vibrancy. Also the stabilization isn't that good there's lots of ghosting and visible warping.

Apparently you didn't get as far as finding the background defocus feature? Button C1 is the default for that feature. You can adjust the level of defocus when you review the photo on screen after.
And moaning that a camera switched itself off is hilarious. All cameras do that and require a change in the settings if you want to disable the feature of lengthen the time.

Are you joking? Of course I know about the background defocus feature but it's nowhere near comparable to a full frame depth of field is it?

@@JackWoodhams Well, seeing as you never even mentioned it, when aiming for the shallow depth of field, how would we know whether you know about it or not? And why on earth would you expect it to be as good as a full-frame depth of field?? It's a pocket camera that costs a lot less.

@@QuicknStraight I think you have misunderstood the points I'm making in the video. I obviously know you can't get the same depth of field, I never said you could!

I don't like the editing. What's the point on doing a photo test review and not showing original pics? 🙄 You should have shown originals.

Making a camera review and not showing the raw images but some edited ones.... Seriously..

Why share the RAWS when they are never what people post online 😂

@@JackWoodhams Just show edited, I don't mind. It's just that I'd also like to see pictures straight out of the camera. RAW and jpegs tell alot of how camera functions and about internal processing.

He's making the video for FREE because jewtube doesn't pay , so you're not in any position to complain. You want to see the raw files , go buy the camera yourself like I had to do.
