***Please be cautious while doing acrylic pouring. Perform in a well ventilated area, wear a respirator, have a fire extinguisher next to you and just have fun!!
I like that you did this. However, these are looking more like beautiful tree ring pours instead of the cloud effect. Perhaps the cloud effect showed itself later? If not, I think it might have been the addition of glue and Floetrol that prevented the chemical reaction. I’d love to see if you’d get a different result with just paint and water with just a tablespoon or so of Liquitex or Golden PM. If nothing else changer the pattern, they are both really pretty. I may want to try the housepaint myself as it’s a brilliant idea if it works. Who doesn’t want to save $$$
I will try that on my next batch. I did get softer cloudy edges while drying, but not the poof. I have a gallon of pouring medium and need to use it at some point....lol Thanks Judy!
Beautiful comparison... They are awesome... Can't wait to see how they dry.
Thank you for making a recipe that's easy to follow. These recipes that say 3 parts this, 2 parts that, a dash of this... makes my head hurt. BTW, your recipe, using Glue-All is the best one I've found. I typically pour using Glue-All or Mod Podge all of my pours.
You are so welcome!
Oh my goodness Christina! You know I love both of them...they're blue! 😊
Awesome!! Thank you for such an informative experiment! Love them both!
New sub!!! finally someone that uses BEHR Satin Enamel. I cannot find decoart satin enamel or milk paint ANY WHERE!!!
Thanks for subbing!
Both paintings are gorgeous! Thanks for doing this comparison Christina❤️. Looking forward to coaster auction 🥰
I prefer the Behr results! Thanks for sharing!!
I have been pouring for a few months now and I only use house paint I do not use glue or water and I get tons of cells. I find things around the house or packaging from products and take it to Home Depot and have them color match the paint for me.
Michelle Williams GREAT idea!!! What kind of house paint do you use, if I may be so bold to ask?
@@dianetucker2711 Diane Tucker I buy oops paints being careful NOT to buy oil based and I have them color match samples that I have brought in. Their computer will tell them which brand will accept the color. I tend to choose highly pigmented colors . Then the computer tells which brands will work and price. I always go for the cheapest and have never had any problems. I wish that you tube would let us ad pictures to replies so that I could show results.
You use straight house paint? No Floetrol? Isn’t it really thick?
@@Sharla1213 No I DO use Floetrol as my pouring medium but no water.
I love both but the cost savings would be my choice. Thanks Christina!
Fantastic comparison! They both have a unique look. And Such an informative vid. Ty! :D
Love these paintings Christina , thanks for the informative video!!!
I think they are lovely, blues!!!
Thank you for the doing this side-by-side comparison! I just received the deco art and now I know next time I can use Behr.
Both look beautiful but you can buy the Behr in the sample size which is about the same size as the deco art jars maybe even a little bigger and they only cost $4 & some change. I have plenty of them recently purchased at Home Depot . So for cost comparison Behr would be the better option. 😁😁
I've also been buying Behr in sample sizes, having custom colors mixed and getting them in semi-gloss, which I prefer. Still cheaper.
Julie Rositer thanks I will look into it. 😊🌸
Awesome!! I just went to hobby lobby looking for the satin enamel the other day and could not find it... I will go to HDepot and get the Behr instead. They both turned out beautiful!
these r both beautiful, but the truly amazing thing in this video is that you very nearly duplicated the paintings! They have almost identical flow patterns. THAT is impressive!
Of course I love the smoother look of the Decoart... But the Behr looks like a viable option. Both really pretty, serene paintings. Decided to comment instead of lurk, lol!
I like the Behr best! Nice!
Both are nice. I ran by the AC Moore in Fayetteville,NC today. I got one of their $10 rebate gift certificates for spending so much. I was looking at paints, really didn't need anything. I saw the Deco Art Satin Enamel for $5 on an end cap. I also saw they had the Premier red purple you like. I ended up getting cake decorating stuff since my daughter's bday is in a few weeks.
Great test and thanks for the info!
Great tip. Thanks!
beautiful thanks for the tutorial both beautiful, happy find and alternative to the coveted DECOART satin enamel, i feel is shard to get effects with SOHO paints the are extremely glossy, great paints at an amazing price I don't mix them with other brands the reaction is totally different
Beautiful👏🥰
I always use enamel paint for house painting etc., the enamel in spray form gives you a wider range of colours to choose from too.
I can use spray paint for acrylic pouring.
@@ChristinaWelch Interesting, have a video on that?
Must the enamel paint be oil based or water based?
I love them both. But the behr has a softer look. I like it a little more.
Thank you for this video, I was wondering why regular enamel wouldnt work... this has been very helpful...
Glad it was helpful!
The behr one is nicer, but not by much, both pretty!
DecoArt at Michaels here in Canada is 16.99 most of the time they don't have it the Behr is 20.00 so i got myself some Behr alot more for the money going to give it a try thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing your experiment. I am going to see if l can get the Behr paint in Australia as haven’t been able to get decoArt for ages. I do use one called White Night Satin enamel, it’s very good but expensive ( if buying be careful as they make an oil based and water and obviously we need the water based).
Both results are nice, how did they dry? I have used Behr Satin Enamel Alkyd and it worked amazingly. The water based Alkyd.
they did cloud out just alittle bit more, not a big difference, just softer edges. I may have to try the Alkyd as well. Thanks Susan.
just make sure its water based cause there is a oil base.
New sub here from Spokane Valley Wa
Welcome!!
Thank you so much. Do I add half amount of glue or equal amounts? I think you said half glue but recipe shows equal amounts of all.
follow the recipe below the video. I also have a recipe for pearls on recent videos.
Can you put in your description the measurements and products used...thanks
Done!
Hi Christina, hey I’m a tad confused on the recipe. It was said that The glue is the same as the paint parts “together”. 3/4 and 3/4 = 1 1/2. But you added 3/4 glue. What did I miss. Thank you for sharing and explaining. Lori
1 part paint 1 part Artist Loft Flow, 1 part Glue All, 2 parts Floetrol and water to consistency. Some add less glue and get more effects, but you may run into the white cracking if you glue is not added.
Thank you so much for your patience and response. I get nervous asking as one youtuber was annoyed with my questions 🙀🤣but if I don’t ask I won’t learn. So thank you very much.

Why the decoart satin enamel not make pearls for this pour?
this was mixed for a cloud pour, not thin enough for pearls.
If I don't use glue do I just increase my floetrol? I usually just use floetrol and gac 800 for my medium. What I want to know is do you just use the same amount for both types of satin enamels?
yes same amounts, you can use liquitex pouring medium instead of glue. You want a good binder since water is used.
Oh wow Christina, you duplicated those! What a talent, you're amazing! Wow...equally beautiful.
Hi sorry to bother you guys but im so stuck i have to ask for help,I have repeatedly had the same failures pouring on Vinyl Records.I do the pour and it all looks great until it dries out then I have hundreds of tiny holes in the paint it looks like woodworm,I clean the Vinyl with Alcohol then a layer of Gesso then the Acrylic Paint, then as soon as it dries failure again, please help
Mustafa,, are you torching after you pour to pop air bubbles. Also, mix your paint the day before so the air can release.
@@ChristinaWelch thank you for your advice, you have a nice day
These canvas weren’t prepped with base paint? Thanks!
not for this pour type.
Christina, I have been searching for good cloud and pearl pour recipes lately, and a few of the artists have said not to use glue in these mixes. It may be a thought for future pours. Regards Glenis
Hi Glenis, I do have a new recipe with glue included for both versions. Both work. Here is the updated version. This recipe makes quite a bit, you can half or quarter it.
DecoArt Satin Enamel
8 oz DecoArt
8 oz Artist Loft White Flow
8 oz Elmers Glue All
8 oz Flood Floetrol
water to thin consistency
Behr Satin Enamels
8 oz Behr (turquoise blue can)
8 oz Artist Loft White Flow
8 oz Elmers Glue All
8 oz Flood Floetrol
water to consistency
Christina this is amazing work! You did a great job, I think I’m going to have to look for some Behr paint! Very fair comparison! I really like your artwork! One of these days I’ll understand how to upload to TH-cam some of my work. I’m a newbie so this is all new me! Very nice work! 🌸💐🎨
If you buy the Behr Sample sizes which are about the same size as the deco art jars the Behr samples are only about $4& some change so very cost effective to use the Behr . Plus they have way more color choices !!! 😁😁😁
Thanks Christina. I live in Canada and can only find DecoArt Satin Enamel on amazon for $33.73 for 8 ounces so will for sure check out Beyer. As always thanks for doing the test.
Dawn Vavra Hi there, I’m in Canada as well, I get mine from Micheals. And it’s 13.00 dollars, I find most things I can get at Micheals. Cost at least 5 or 10 or more. On amazon!. I use golden products as well, but some tunes cost 40.00 dollars!!!!!!. If u can’t get at Micheals. Go to Home Depot!!!!
@@louisecollet Thank you Louise I will try both. I am in Saskatchewan (relocated from Vancouver Island) and have found Michaels in Saskatoon to be all over the map for availability and price. All advice gratefully received.
I’d be happy with either!!! Behr....SOLD!! Thanks for the experiment! Very informative!
Every time I use glue in my paints they crack when they dry even though I'm using floetrol. How do you keep yours from cracking?
Are you using Glue All? I don't add water too often, but I've never had them crack from glue.
@@ChristinaWelch no I used elmer's school glue mixed 50/50 with water as a pouring medium. Added to paint about 70/30. It cracked every time. Thankfully I found floetrol at home depot and I use that now instead of the homemade recipe. No cracking ever with floetrol.
@@reyasunshyne6510 I do fine with Elmer's school glue, but the mixture needs to be closer to 70/30 glue to water.
So beautiful! Both of them! I don't really see much difference. So I would have to use the less expensive recipe for sure! Thank you for the experiment!❤️👍❤️
They are both gorgeous!! Thank you for sharing Christina 😍❤️
Awesome! Thanks for doing this. What wipes are you using for clean up? They work really well.
Equate baby wipes, cheap and they work great. (Walmart)
@@ChristinaWelch added to my shopping list. Thank you.
Nice lesson!
