    On the ones I've made before I cut the batting to 4 1/2 in. square and center it. When turned I give it a topstitch and that catches the edges of the batting and it makes turning and corners a breeze.

      @anita haecker I did just that when they were off on Columbus day!! I've had the square one (like her Valentine's ones) for years that I received as a giftie at a quilt retreat. My 12 yr old learned to sew at 7 😊 The 10 yr old has been wanting to learn as well. We did the square ones because this version wasn't posted yet & I just didn't think of it! It was my idea to make them for their teachers for Christmas. I sewed the one for the 6 yr old, but the 10 yr old sewed her 3 & the 12 yr old sewed her 9!! They were so proud of them! I just used unbleached muslin for the inside square, but I had a tub of 5" squares I let them pick from.

    I learned this a long time ago for using with a stemmed wine glass. The base of the glass can be inserted into the middle making a great coaster that also identifies whose glass it is if you do different fabrics for each coaster.

    I thought of curving the corner instead of squared. It would make it easier to turn right side out and the curved corners would be easier to turn out. Just an idea!

    • @vickiteray7721
      @vickiteray7721 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Deborah Pearce, it does make it a lot easier. I have made them and definitely rounding the corners makes it easier.

    Managing sewing the corners in diagonally folded squares should have been mentioned..to turn into the next side exactly where the different fabrics meet. One of those tips that make all the difference. After turning and pressing , topstitching using a longer stitch length 1\8" round edges makes for a neater finish.
