Have you ridden the mangakahia road from Whangarei to Kaikohe. Its in good condition with very little traffic much better than riding hiway 1 much less pot holes.

Looking at the map, Mangakahia Rd is SH15 (I didn't know that) which is the road we took and you're right, we really enjoyed it!
