    I've had this processor since Feb, it's been pretty awesome, the forums are great on this, the min volume is just what it displays, there is volume you can set when you turn it on (power on volume), and as for the voltage most people found it needs to be higher closer to 4v depending on your amps. The buttons for volume change behine The screen gives you different options on how you want to control The volume, with a slider, a large button incense I believe 3db at a time, small does one at a time. The signal generator was added last update but ist functional yet, not really needed with Dirac live, and as far as I know I don't believe the Dirac bass management is enabled yet. Lol and yes it's not really laggy but delayed on button pushes you just need to take your time lol

    I would recommend turning on CEC, you can turn on your system with any of the connected devices. It is not only for ARC/eARC, but also helps with power on and power off, automatic input switching, etc.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s what my Harmony Elite is for. One button and it does it all.

    • @iNetRunner
      @iNetRunner 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Youthman Like Nial said, CEC helps in power on and input selection. But I suppose you could consider it an opinion.
      Besides, if you are really relying on a third party remote (with macros etc.), like your Harmony, then having CEC disabled is probably the way to go. If enabled, the inputs might fight each other vs. what Harmony is trying to achieve and what the processor is sensing. (I.e. macro chain could easily break, any remote’s state and real state of various components could end up wrong.)
      Anyway, I find CEC input selection helpful in my setup (no Monolith gear here). Turning on PS4 or IPTV box (with their own controllers/remotes) automatically selects the correct input etc..

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Youthman There are several tiers of DLBC, Dirac includes the bottom tier (Tier 3) for free with a standard Dirac Live license. Tier 3 basically performs a standard Dirac calibration for a single sub or sub array (there's still some confusion whether this applies to each available dedicated sub channel or just the primary sub1 channel) like you do your mains and satellites, but you have to choose your crossover point. Tier 2 ($349) will predict the optimal crossover point for you, again for a single sub or sub array, correct the combined response of your subs and mains/satellites and adjust phase/delay. Tier 1 ($499) does everything Tier 1 & 2 does, but for each individual sub channel that you have configured in your processor (I believe the HTP-1 can handle up to 5 dedicated sub channels for a whopping 7.5.4/9.5.2 config) and then will calibrate the interactions of those subs with each other and your mains/satellites for the final treatment.

      Main reasons are 1) Ease of use and 2) Reliability and 3) Cost.
      Only one that you mentioned that I personally would have considered for my personal upgrade would have been the HTP-1. Emotiva and Anthem are too buggy for me.

      Thanks for the quick reply. My current adcom 5.1 processor is failing and I need a replacement to get me in the modern era with HDMI and latest codecs. I really do not currently need so many channels but that seems the only way to get the best DACs. Sound quality is my biggest priority with future expansion later. I really do not want an AVR as I already have an amp. Any recommendations in the sub 4000 range? I am also looking at demo units and used if I can get a better quality component. Thanks.

      Unfortunately, you’re going to spend a lot more for a processor. I would recommend the Monoprice HTP-1 but it’s $1000 over your budget. Nothing wrong with buying an AVR and using external amps. I did that with the SR8012 and SR8015.

    Didn't hear if the video said this but can you make individual settings for each source?
    For example if I want speakers set to small for Bluray input and then set the speakers to large for CD/2ch input. And have different crossover for subs for different sources like for movie I might want it at 80hz but for music I want it at lower like 40-60hz...

    • @saikatbose8370

      Absolutely not . These are the universal setting s. So either the size or the crossover has to be changed manually once you set them. Just to add always keep speakers to small and the receiver a base is at it's best. Crossovers according to your speakers. But lfe plus main works best at 120

The thing is I want to at least be able to have different subwoofer crossover for music and multichannel. Because having the sub at 80hz for music doesn't sound that great. Having it at 50-60hz is great. Well, the search go on. 🙂

I use not only audio cd but have turntables attached to the my av receiver. As I listen to music and watch films both. But since I have a different setups which is a integrated amplifier felt the base lacking in the avr if speakers are set to large. • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mike the main reason is that low frequencies require a lot of power from an amplifier so by setting your speakers to small, the amp is better able to deliver power to the channels.
      The other reason is dedicated subs are designed specifically to handle 80Hz and below so they are much better at handling those frequencies than your speakers are.
      I set my LCR speakers to 60Hz and let my subs handle from 60Hz down to 8Hz.

    The early reviews of this receiver have not been kind. Didn't pass video well at all, and it compressed bit rates and producing jitter. Not ready for release. Desperately in need of firmware updates. Plus, when I think of a 16-channel reciever, I'm thinking of something like 9 bed channels and 6 overheads in addition to sub outs. Or for less money, i could use the 3803 to amplify only the two front, the x4700h can deactivate the two front but use amplify all other channels. For only $1699US. Probably less at boxing day. It has been tested, it is a very good pre-amplifier and has all format Auro 3d IMAX enhanced, Dolby Atmos , virtualization, dts x, neural x, and all bluetooth format, airplay 2, alexa, google, 8k60, 4k120 hdcp 2.3 which this monolith is not compatible. This unit is for people that need up to 16ch of processing. If using two receivers and an amplifier works for you that’s great.

      I had a LOT of issues with the RMC-1 and almost no issues with the HTP-1.

      Thank you kindly. I can only speak for my experience with the RMC-1. Also, many of the bugs I experienced hopefully have been resolved by now with firmware updates.

      Any quality 16ch processor setup is going to be expensive.
