    I just watched Rammstein in Amerika, the documentum film, and there’s a clip with young Oliver just jumping up and down and having fun with a huge grin, and I almost fell out of my chair XD

    Richard comments on "Six roaming the world". This is a reference to a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm "Sechse kommen durch die ganze Welt". The six members of that group have very specialized talents which are not particularly useful on their own. In combination, however they get out of any tight spot encountered in the narrative, and all members share the glory equitably. This is the perfect metaphor for Rammstein...and life, in general. Each of us has a valuable contribution to make.

    • @xsezz
      @xsezz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's really cool. I'm glad they realized only together could they have achieved this kind of success.

    What i really like about Rammstein is not only the music but even more their history, how they made it against all odds, being from the DDR, being somewhat all misfits even in their enviroment, singing in german, beeing misunderstood by the media, having fear of the stage or being shy, having internal fights, drug addictions, etc etc but keeping it all together, democratic and still friends and more than that like family in the end... is amazing

    • @xsezz
      @xsezz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, they're like a married couple who passed through it all to get where they're at. :)

    There is no other band like Rammstein and there probably will never be again. Their music is not only good, the lyrics are poetic, the videos are captivating, and the stage shows are spectacular. Every aspect of the band is carefully crafted art. On top of all that they have found a way to keep the band going for decades without breaking up by having the band be a democracy and allowing everyone to have side projects.

    To me, it's pretty obvious that the Haifisch is a metaphor for the band. The statement in the chorus
    "And the shark has tears
    And they run from the face
    But the shark lives in the water
    So the tears you can't see"
    has once again reference to the big quarrel within the band members. The statement is, even if we sometimes argue "and tears flow", no one from outside will notice.
    PS: It is unusual in German to call the shark "Haifisch", but simply "Hai". In English, no one would say shark-fish either. Everyone knows that a shark is a fish.

    • @kratzvonscharfenstein
      @kratzvonscharfenstein 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The "Haifisch" is a reference to Bertold Brechts Dreigroschenoper or Beggars Opera. Look out for the Mecki Messer Song: Die Moritat von Mecki Messer: Und der Haifisch, der hat Zähne
      Und die trägt er im Gesicht
      Und Macheath, der hat ein Messer
      Doch das Messer sieht man nicht.

    There are a few more interesting tidbits on the Wikipedia page for the music video:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haifisch#Music_video
    "[...] As the video continues, Lindemann's coffin is lowered into the grave below the inscription "endlich allein" (German: "finally alone") and many scenarios are shown of how Lindemann died, which are all based on previous Rammstein videos: being beaten and set on fire by Christoph Schneider ("Du hast"), having his rope cut while rock climbing by Richard Kruspe ("Ohne dich"), having his oxygen pipe removed from his space suit by Oliver Riedel while on the moon ("Amerika"), and a fat Lindemann being suffocated with spaghetti force-fed to him by Christian Lorenz ("Keine Lust" and Seven). Lorenz also imagines Paul Landers being spanked by Lindemann in a Snow White costume ("Sonne"). [...]"

    Also I'm not sure on the Schneider-Jewish thing. Never heard mention of it, not that any of them really discuss their personal lives. Could just be for the video for some reason. But Till and Flake are Atheist and Paul doesn't bother with religion. But Richard is spiritual but not to a particular religion but is into all that karma and astrology stuff. And Oliver is a mute so no one knows about him hah

      You’re right. Non of the band are practicing Jews nor any other religion really. However, I believe that it was mentioned a long time ago in the band’s early years that some of the members are ethnically Jewish. I don’t think it specified which members though. I want to say Paul is one of them as been reported that Paul’s parents fled Poland/Czech due to be in danger of persecution from the N**is. Of course that could all be made up. It has never been brought up again as far as I can tell.

    • @darrylrotrock7816

      All religious references are theatrical. Schneider is not Jewish, nor is Till a Catholic. But a priest presides over the funeral service, and a yarmulke is worn. Just a bit of fun.

    Small criticism on the side. It is very unfortunate that you choose to interrupt the video several times whenever someone is talking. For people who have to read subtitles, this is not a problem. For people who understand what they are saying, this is a huge problem and very annoying.
