  • Sorry had re-upload in full HD. 747's at Cotswold airport these days aren't a rare sight be any means as most complete their final flights here, but, in this instance it was a rare event. departure of one. One of only 2 747's in the last 20 years the other being Corsair F-HSUN to the boneyard. The one in question here is TF-AAD which started its career 23 years ago in 1997 with Malaysian. Over the years its been to Alwafeer air to Saudi on lease from air Atlanta Icelandic which is its current owners. It arrived on 17 Jun 2020 for storage at Kemble but unlike we all thought this wasn't its last flight as today it departed to start a new career carrying in PPE from China to and from Doncaster operating for North lights charter. Its great to see another queen grace the skies again.
Me and my mate decided to get her going because its a rare event getting a 747 departing to Cotswold or any airliner for that matter. There was quite a lot of planning and last minute decisions went into this. She was firs due out on the Friday it then changed to Saturday. The time was 12:00 then she suddenly went onto the runway so quickly rushed down to pick up my mate and then we rushed down to Kemble. Then typically there was issue after, after issue. Engine Number 3 went tech and they had to repair it and then do an engine run to make sure it was fully serviceable. Then the departure time slipped from 12:00 to 13:00 then 14:00 and ended up being 15:00 so after an hour in the cold we decided to go for Mac Donald's then finally she was towed up we cheered for joy. She was pushed down to RWY26 and started all four engines got clearance and blasted into the setting sun. the only issue was the Gnat got into the way of the actually lift off and few people got into the way but other than that it was an awesome sight and well worth the wait to capture this rare moment on film.
Anyway hope you enjoy, sorry about the shakes and wind noise, it was gusting up to 20mph at times. Anyway with the governments announcement of lockdown coming Thursday this could be my last video for at least a month so I hope its a good one. Like comment an subscribe for more aviation content.

Great upload! Lovely to see her fly again. A rare sight indeed to see a plane LEAVING Kemble. I saw a video of another Boeing leaving Kemble yesterday but it was just the fuselage section and it was on a road transporter. It's now on the Bonville Road Industrial Estate in Brislington, Bristol and is being converted to offices.

Cheers yes very lucky to see that. Ah that was one of the 727’s there I believe.

@@aviationinhd8970 Yes it was a more gracious exit from Kemble for the 747 than it was for the 727! Johnny Palmer paid around £100,000 for the 727 in 2018 and then it took over two years of planning to get her to Brislington.

@@aviationinhd8970 By the way, about 8 miles from Kemble is one of my favourite places to go flying. It's RAF Rendcomb near Cirencester. The plane that I fly on (and yes I do mean 'ON'!) is a 1940's Boeing Stearman bi-plane. Oh not only am I stood on the top wing but my pilot also likes to throw in some stall turns, loops and barrel rolls. Nothing a Ryanair passenger can't handle! Flight costs £399 for around ten minutes. £25 extra for video. Height is up to 2,200ft and speeds are up to 150 mph at the bottom of the loop with a cruising speed of around 80 mph. Food is bugs and birds during flight but no drinks. I do other mad airborne stuff in Slingsby T-67 Firefly's, de Havilland Tiger Moths (loops and stall turns), Cessna Caravan's (falling out of them from 15,000ft) and Extra 300's (airshow quality aerobatics of +8/-5G's). Nothing too extreme. Here's the link to my wing walk video th-cam.com/video/ukwO43czOcg/w-d-xo.html
