They are BCA (British Car Auctions) you’ve basically asked an auctioneer to buy your car (and give the auctioneer a margin)

BCA also own Cinch. BCA take the decent retail ready cars and retail them through Cinch, the rest end up in a BCA auction as you state.

I've sold two cars to WBAC - both times their operative went over the car with his 'paint depth meter', which appeared to be nothing more than a random number generator. Both times he knocked money off their original offer due to previous 'accident damage'. Which was utter nonsense, as I knew in both cases that the car had definitely not had any body repairs. However, on the plus side, WBAC's idea of a mechanical inspection is to drive it 50 yds around their car park. They are clearly not bothered if there's oil pouring out, the clutch is shot or the head gasket is blown. This rather confirms the theory that they put the cars straight to auction, where it's buyer beware, and the only thing a prospective buyer can check properly is the bodywork. So if your car looks presentable, but is mechanically on it's last legs, these are the people to sell it to.

It is the same old story of when you want to sell/trade in a used car. There is always a story to knock down the price . Dealer example--well the mileage is high it would go to auction,it will need panels/wheels painting, its not an attractive colour, its not a popular spec.its the pre facelift model etc etc. Now go and buy a used car---its a few years old bound to have scuffs --its the best colour---best spec on this car--the mileage doesnt matter as the engines never fail--the list goes on. Its the scenario of you can buy things very easily but try and sell it in the future whether it be cars or houses--its always a hard and depressing experience .

If you want to sell your car for half the money it’s worth or less then I highly recommend WBAC. If you want to throw money away then WBAC is the company for you. They advertise that “for a little less” than selling privately they take the hassle out of selling. Its bollocks. Spend the time to get your car valeted, serviced, MOTd and keep the extra £££ you’re chucking away with the WBAC con men.

WARNING: Never sell your Car to any company like WBAC. I had a car just gone 4 years old. New MOT, just been serviced, 20,000 miles 2 Kets etc., and what anyone in the right mind would call Showroom Ready, On Line I was Quoted £18,900. Went to the appointment and to cut a long story short, I was offered £14,500 after fees. Of cause I declined and walked away, with the guy saying he would call his boss and see if he could get me a bit more, I didn’t wait and drove off.

It's far cheaper these days for me to use taxis.
I get free bus and train travel, so any random journeys I need to make by car, it would work out cheaper to use taxis.
My car is currently used for less than 1,500 miles per year ... I have depreciation on the car, £600 per year VED and insurance plus repairs and MOT ... and that is before I even put any petrol in it.
I reckon about £1000 per year goes on keeping my car on the road ... that will pay for a lot of taxis.

You need to declare all damage and defects however small when getting your initial valuation on line with WBAC. Their business model assumes your car is in ‘as new’ condition regardless of its age. So that doesn’t mean excellent or good condition ‘for it’s age’, as they age of the vehicle is not taken in to consideration. The fact is even some of their managers are frustrated with this valuation system but it is what it is and it’s best to try to work with it as it says in the last part of the video. This is how it works.

I believe they give you a high valuation to lure you to the inspection stage, knowing that most people will accept the low offer simply because they’re there now and it’s too much hassle to start the process again with another company. Add to that, the fact that a lot of their customers are desperate for cash they prey on this to extract as much profit as possible. Yes it’s a business and yes, they are there to make money however I would be interested to know how many people actually received the full valuation amount they were initially quoted. I’ll wait…

@@RT-ii8hb not sure what you disagree about. That’s how they work and I’ve used them a number of times. They will only take money off if you have failed disclose a defect, no matter how small or if you state the mileage incorrectly etc. If you present the car as you describe it they will pay the full valuation. I have done this several times and received the on line valuation to the penny. The truth needs to come out about all these companies that have popped up, they are no different from anyone else they want to buy your vehicle cheap, of course they know how to talk and lie, just be careful as some are on the edge of bankruptcy as you might get stung when buying, there are plenty of sad stories out there, its why I always deal with a well knows car dealer, be careful to research car dealers too, they aren't all squeaky clean, some of the big names are thieves. Do your homework.

hi Terence, many thanks for the comment and, many thanks for watching the video to the end. Yes, I have some tech stuff that calculates my spend and compares the price of items to the previous months. Based on food, fuel for car and bikes, utilities gas and electric, at the time, inflation costs were some 21.4%. Inflation at the moment is running at 10.2% based on the last three months. Fortunately, there is no mortgage. Had this been the case, and the mortgage had risen due to interest rates, the current 10.2% would be much higher. Of course, these are my numbers and everyone is different however, I am quite frugal so I image others who are not have a higher inflation rate for their households. The lady at the end, absoloutly true. Bear in mind this video was recorded after the total event and some days more. The lady loved the car and was happy to take it. To be fair, the car was great with full service history etc and low miles. Once again, thanks for watching to the end of the video. Much appreicated.

@@keithnewton8981I had an S-Max that I got a good initial price from WBAC. 4 year old car with 20k miles. The car was near mint - no paint issues, no wheel scuffs, immaculate interior.
Their guy came round and had a good look over it and said it was an amazing example and "do you not use it?".
He then said the price was £1200 less than originally quoted because "the market has gone down". That was the only reason.
I said no and he left.
WBAC called me 2 days later and asked what the issue was and I told them them market has not dropped £1200 in the 3 days between original valuation and their guy coming round.
After a few mins of haggling I accepted a revised offer of £100 less than their original.
