This is a beautiful song, and one a lot of people don't react to. But I'm glad you did and that you liked it as much as you did. They have a lot of beautiful songs in this vein: "The Actor," "Have You Heard," "Never Comes the Day," and others. Appreciate your reaction!

Ray didn't sing often, but still nailed it this is one of my faves by them. (And that's really saying something, know almost everything they've done.)

Justin Hayward was the primary singer for the Moody Blues. "For My Lady" featured the late Ray Thomas (flutist) on vocals.

Moody Blues were a great & somewhat underrated band, though very successful selling around 80 million albums from 1967 on!,just 2 members left alive,Justin Hayward, main singer & songwriter & John Lodge bass & also a main contributer to the songwriting!,Ray Thomas who you see singing here mainly sang backing vocals & was a very fine flautist!,check out the live version of 'Nights in white satin' where you can see Justin on lead vocals,& Ray on the flute!,Justin & John are still touring as solo artists, the Moody's had most of there success in the U.S.A.though they came from Birmingham & Swindon in England!😊

The song was written in 72 and the videos of beautiful ladies are also from the Seventies, but this is from the Red Rocks performance in 1992. This entire concert is amazing!!

Early in the Moodies "golden era," 4 of the 5 members wrote songs and sang them, almost equally on the albums.

My favourite song from the Seventh Sojourn album which I bought in 1972 and which I still have. The next track is called Isn't Life Strange...also a brilliant song.

This song is from their Seventh Sojourn album. Ray Thomas wrote and sang this song. They have several lead vocalists in the group, but my favorite lead singer over most of their records is Justin Hayward. You should check out New Horizons from this same album.

I believe this was Ray Thomas on lead vocals here but Justin Hayward is the normal lead singer. Wonderful group but sadly Mike Pinder, the last surviving original member of the band, died on 24 April 2024, at the age of 82.

This song was originally recorded in 1972 but this performance is from 1993 (from their Live at Red Rocks show).
To say that they remind you of the Beatles is an insult. The Beatles could only pray for such talent and innovation. Had the Beatles emerged just a decade later, they'd have been dismissed as the pop pap lightweights who only two could string two notes together in tune and not sound like they had a cold and limited in the talent and looks department pile of mediocre merde that they were.
ELO were from Birmingham, like the Moody Blues are, and took a lot of their influence, particularly the orchestral involvement, from the Moody Blues.
