Every city and community has its ups and down. Louisville has picked itself up, brushed itself off and continued improving after each setback. It's already happening now. I've been working downtown through all of this and frankly, my sadness comes from the loss of small businesses, mostly restaurants - family owned places that had been around for decades and the homeless camps that have tripled in the last 10 years. For the largest part, Downtown is clean, open for business and safe. Our company goes "back to work" full time starting Tuesday. All of those bodies downtown equals commerce. Give it time.

@@zacstephens8106 I work downtown EVERY day. I didn't say there weren't pockets where homeless camps and junkies set up camp - I said it's improving and I said it was safe. I'm not afraid to walk around, I'm not afraid of who I will encounter. It is clean and it's not a place to avoid, unless you can't understand that it's also imperfect.
I've seen people shooting up in the mall's parking lot, I've seen people shooting up at gas stations in rural areas. I've seen needles in the Parklands, in schools playgrounds, etc. Drugs - especially heroine - are not singular to this city or any city. It's absolutely everywhere.
If that is your argument, then it's shortsighted.

I love my city…. However, Murders have been more frequent in certain areas over the last 2-3 years. It is sad - I have found though; white or black, most people in Louisville will give you respect as long as you respect them. Typically if you’re not looking for trouble you won’t find it. You can’t say the same for other cities worse off. I’ve been all over the city and haven’t had any issues (* knock on wood.) I swear the southern hospitality really is a thing with most people in this state/city. I also know 2 of my friends, who are young and attractive women that live alone have not had any issues and they both live in 2 of the areas on this video. They let their dogs out at night, etc. with no problem whatsoever.
With everything that happened in 2020, especially the Breonna Taylor case, tensions are very high. Just always remember that whatever side you find yourself on, you can agree to disagree and live amongst each other/respect each other.

Lol just got my car stoked on Bardstown road infront of my face... Remember. Your personal experiences doesn’t mean that’s everyone else’s... Just like playing the lottery... Not to mention how many thugs tried to fight me playing basketball at Seneca or Iroquois park as a kid just cause I was crossing them... Louisville is full of dumb asses.. Especially at the Thornton’s off 2nd and Broadway... Nothing but crack heads try to make a buck.

I've lived and been in Portland. Half my family is down there. And in general I agree with OP. I've walked Portland at all times of the day and night. I've never got robbed. Same with newberg and beech n Terence back in the day. Never a problem. And I'm not black so I stand out. I'm more scared of the cops stopping me than people. And yes I agree with you also. There are jackings. But that happens everywhere even in st Mathews and Middletown. I'm sorry you got robbed but the ville is safer than most cities even in the worst part. Southern hospitality is real here and we as a whole respect and love each other. That includes all colors here also.

I don't think I would be a well-rounded, experienced, prepared or compassionate had I not grown up in this city. Just gonna play 5 min of highway? 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ then proceeds to drive through impoverished neighborhoods... what was the point of this? Kentucky has poor areas in the inner city. It also has poor areas in Appalachia but you won't go up there exposing the economic deficiency in those white communities. Let me rephrase that... you SHOULDN'T go up there... cause u might not make it out.
