I saw the wrong side of this stitch before I ever saw the front and fell in love with the way it makes the beautiful tube like rolls, I'm glad to see it's easy to learn and just as beautiful on the front side. Definitely going to make some washcloths for practice before I attempt a technicolor blanket with this lovely stitch. Thank you for showing how it's done :)
We had to do the monthly grocery shopping yesterday. It's a marathon and a bit tiring. Lol. I got up on the treadmill and there you are with a video! Its great! Makes me feel human again and very happy! I love your videos! Thank you so much for making things seem easy and so beautiful! You are the best!
Yes :) she has a way of making people happy :) I've 'known' her for years and it's Always such a joy watching her videos...her baking is flawless,I still bake after her recipies.....
Always wanted to learn this stitch not good at reading patterns, so you really did a good job teaching now need to get me some more yarn after teaching my granddaughter to crochet, she had to make her dad an afghan, so my yarn supply is gone, bless you and thanks for sharing
Oh, this is so pretty - I will definitely make a scarf with this! Thank you for such a clear and easy to follow tutorial. By the way, your bracelets are lovely :)
Thanks so much Yvonne. I have a small wrist, and my watch slides down onto my hand, and gets wet all the time on the inside because of that... so I wear 2 bracelets in front of my watch to hold it up on my arm.
That is so much easier that it looks. Thanks. I also notice that you knit in the back and front loops interchangeably. Does that do anything to the look and texture of the piece?
For a shawl, cast on a multiple of 4 or 5 groups of 18 stitches. The one in the photos would be find for a short shawl,,, it has 3 multiples. Or you could simply use larger needles,,, it would turn out bigger, but the stitches would also be more lacy.
When you get to the end of a row, and turn for the next row... give your last stitch on the needle (the last one worked) a tug to tighten it on the needle... that should help to keep your ends even.
Hello Emi, thank you for sharing this pattern and how to knit it. I remember knitting several baby items that used this stitch. Although straight forward, it always looked pretty. I noticed as you are knitting, some stitches you knit into the front of the stitch and sometimes into the back ~ doesnt that effect the pattern in some way? I certainly didnt notice on your finished scarf. TFS ~ Julie
Hi Julie! I only noticed that after I posted the video... it's all due to the limited space I have between myself and the camera, which is propped up in front of me. It would not show in the finished work, because I was working without the hindrance of the camera in close proximity. It might make a slight difference in the finished stitch appearance.
Certainly you can use the method you usually use.... I may have been taught the wrong way, but it was so many years ago, and it works for me. But again, I so have a space restriction between myself and the camera. Sorry if I confused anyone!! Please forgive me.

You can knit through either the front or the back... but keep it consistent throughout the pattern. Always the same loop for all of the pattern, as there is a visual difference if you mix them up.

I was hoping for an answer on this too! I noticed it but it never seemed to be answered..........
This is beautiful my friend! It will be a while before I can knit or crochet again, but this one is at the top of my list to do first.
Sending vibes for a speedy recovery for you!
EMI how many stitches did you cast on for the shawl you made that is shown in picture??
I have 3 sets so cast on was 54
Thank you :)what if i want it to be shawl ?how can i do that i am a crocheter but i started following you on knitting

When I try to knit my edges and my middle are always different. How do you get the edges and the middle to be the same?

I noticed that also - plus you have a different way of purling!
