I figured we should drop this 2022 Prius review before the new Prius, which may or may not exist, does or does not appear next week at the LA auto show. ;)
@@naveenthemachine I mean, there's also the possibility that Toyota realized the Prius can't just look weird and they made the 5th generation genuinely attractive. But I can neither confirm nor deny that. 🤐
@@MicahMuzio well I’m going with the assumption that Toyota will absolutely screw this up. As they have screwed up their latest redesigns Cases in point: NX LX RX RZ BZ4X UX LS Tundra Sequoia corolla corolla cross crown. 99% the Prius, upcoming Grand Highlander, TX, 4Runner, Tacoma, next gen GX will be awful too
Hope the new one looks good and is maybe a little fun to drive. I currently drive an 18 4Runner 4wd and love it, but drive 3k miles a month for work. (18mpg) I get paid by the mile and the thought of 55mpg is getting very appealing.
I can’t believe I just bought this car. My daily driver is a F150 but I started commuting 3.5 hours away from my house for work and the Ford wasn’t a good fit. Well…after a week I love it. So economical and great to drive. So happy with it.
Prius Prime owner here. Sure they look a bit dopey, but so does my dog and everybody loves her. Also, everyone quits making fun of the looks when gas passes $5 per gallon.
I decided to get one of these a few months ago despite the anticipation over a redesign, and no regrets so far. I find it comfy and relaxing to drive. With the dark gray exterior and black softex interior, it looks lowkey premium to my eyes. There's def other cars that are more comfy or premium, but I like the balance of features and purpose built design of the prius.
We have a 2016 with 125,000 miles. It has been flawlessly reliable with 57 real world mpg. That said, 5th Generation reveal is on 11/16, expect improvements on power and mpg.
I never thought the base Prius would have better looking matte plastic trim than the upper trim’s shiny piano black. Thanks for showing that! Now waiting to see the 5th gen Prius 😉
I have 2019 with 67700 miles on and i feel the same way best car I’ve ever owned and I’ve had some really nice cars. My commute to work is 60 miles one way and 60 miles back home. So this is perfect if you commute like me or do the gig economy like you.
Haters always say people drive a Prius because they want to be seen in an eco car, but I think they just want the insane gas mileage. And really, all cars look different. The Prius is a purpose built car, so that's why it doesn't look like a Corolla for example. Hater just want to hate.
I own a Prius and it's a fantastic car. I do wish Toyota put a little more sound deadening in it and the 3rds gen had a better designed front console, but I'm getting 60 mpg (!) with a mostly highway driving cycle and it is incredibly practical (I've carried several large appliances in it). The only complaint I have is the front seat is a little bit too soft, I need to put a hard cushion under my butt or my back starts to hurt on longer drives
Love a surprise drop! Hoping the new Prius looks better, this design is an actual deal breaker! Also, love the merch. If you’d told me I’d be buying a shirtless Micah Muzio mug today I’d say…yeah probably!
Hybrids are still appealing because with its higher mileage vs gas models, it means fewer trips to pump gas. That’s the most attractive aspect for my new driver daughter who can’t be bothered getting gas. The Corolla hybrid is on our list.
You have to admit, the Prius is very much a vehicle, possibly the thing most like a vehicle in this video. It has many car like attributes and can even take you to the place. It has an average number of wheels, but at the same time it offers very mediocre other features. You can often find them on the road or in a parking lot.
One complaint about the Prius, people don’t drive them fast enough. They take off slower that a wide load trailer and do 10 mph under the limit constantly, honestly
I’ve owned a number of Priuses (Prii?) and they have all been bulletproof vehicles. Currently we have a Prius Prime as one of our company cars and it’s really a great vehicle. Not exciting, but comfortable, quiet and oh-so-economical to run. I bet the new one will be a home run and I would bet it gets 60mpg plus.
Curious if you can fit three across the backseat? I have a growing family and now am looking at cars (wanting a smaller car) that can fit a booster, a baby, and a toddler seat across that back.
Easily the best thumbnail photo in the history of your channel. ❤❤ photoshop out that 4 wheeled appliance and add in a Santa in a Miata & voilà instant holiday card. 🎅🏼
Thanks for the review. I've placed an order for 2022 since August but the wait time is 10-12 months. Now the 2023 / 5th generation just came out and it looks amazing. Now I'm worried it'd be in high demand and expensive. If the dealer has a 2022 for me right now (because everyone wants a 2023 instead), I don't know if I should take it or wait for a 2023. What a dilemma!
I have a 2016 and it’s the most reliable easy to own car I’ve ever owned. It’s a Prius. It’s kind of ugly. But it’s so bulletproof. I would own it until it dies but I’m upgrading to a Highland Hybrid for room
i have a 21 awd model and that thing is great. i live on top of a mountain and steep gravel driveway with snow makes it difficult in the winter to get out. My old outback got out fine but was killing me on gas on my 70 mile round trip commute. the awd prius is a great compromise. not sexy. have an FRS for that but for commuting there is nothing better.
I don't think I've ever seen a silver car with black accent's that wouldn't look better in white. Soo close to that contrasty punch, and yet so very far.
One thing you miss and maybe should be added to all your reviews. Maintenance required and longevity. People who own these say they have 200,000 trouble free driving and at 200,000 miles the car looks and runs like brand new.
I wish fake leather hadn't spread to so many car lines and models. They supposedly market it as an upgrade and put in on all but the base trims. I've had vinyl upholstery (and that's what it is) on several cars and I live in the Central Valley of California. Its no fun on a 100+ summer day to sit on it. It burns going in and it makes your back sweat in a matter of minutes. Very uncomfortable. Yeah, its easy to clean and holds up well, but that's all you can say for it. I'd much rather have a good quality cloth seat and I wish automakers would at least give you that option in upper trims. /rant over
Don't know who thought shiny black plastic was a good thing to start putting on dashboards where it can reflect light and show up dust, but it's a horrible design element that car makers should stop using.
Unless you are planning to turn your car into a camper or something, why would anyone buy a Prius over a Corolla or Camry Hybrid? The Corolla and Camry looks a lot better, the corolla is cheaper, and they have about the same fuel economy.
Some people like Prius looks and the idea of how eco friendly it is. But yes I agree there is no reason to get one other than that it is a hatchback vs the sedans you mentioned.
It's, without a doubt, one of the worst looking vehicles on the road in America today--and it really doesn't need to be. I really hope that the rumors about the next one's drastic design changes are true.
I test drove a 2017 Priu, and I found road noise was pronounced ; it intruded into cabin at freeway speed. The car seemed not to have enough sound insulation.
One of the ugliest cars on the road🤢 Right up there with the Pontiac Aztek, in my opinion. I remain hopeful that Toyota will recall every Prius due to faulty body design. I take a lot of taxis in my city, and they drive a lot of Priuses (if that's how you spell the plural) and from a patron's point of view, they aren't too bad inside, and ride nice. Plus, I don't have to look at the exterior from the inside.
I figured we should drop this 2022 Prius review before the new Prius, which may or may not exist, does or does not appear next week at the LA auto show. ;)
The new Prius will be ugly and uncompetitive. Unfortunately it’s time has come to an end.

I’m in a similar situation and considering trading in my suv for a Prius.

The thing is, even now the Prius looks fresh. That for me is a hallmark of a great design. I hope the new generation continues that freshness.

A weekday Muzio Family car review upload? That’s rare! I love it! Excellent job guys!
This was an extra car that fell in our laps. The Prius is old but we thought, hey, why not take it for a spin.

When he smacks his hands together at 8:12 and then gets in a different seat half a second later, the hand smack was synced perfectly

If you average less that 31 miles per day like most Americans and have access to a plug where you park overnight I recommend the Prius Prime.
Thanks for your great reviews. You bring a lot of energy to your reviews.
Just seen a review of the 2023 prius and I can say if I were looking to buy one I would wait for that car
....well done Muzios' That MPG is insane...I wish I could get 1/2 that.

Such a different review, very different and quality video I like this
Great review. I'm loving my 2021, 40K miles without a hitch. Can not wait for the new one to be revealed next week!

Love your videos
Love the Prius.❤

Excellent surprise upload guys!😸
I wanted style, awd, and decent fuel economy with a hatch so I got a Venza and love it

Would love to see the cargo space WITH the 2nd row seats down. Other than that, great review as always!
I love my 2019 Prius Limited. My ARM sweats on arm rest, had to install a soft/padded shower rug on top. Has been a great car!👍

The car is nice. That have quite a bit of trunk space. Great fuel efficiency
I'm excited for the 5th generation. Never understood some of the cost cutting this generation, or general design...

No way. Can’t even do that in mid size SUVs like highlander

Getting ready for the 2023 new gen Prius coming out on Wednesday/Thursday?
Wow that is the most road noise I think has ever been in your videos. ….appropriate call to action for the 🦎
Something tells me there’s a new Prius coming…
Great review! I'd go for a Prius Prime SPORT with, say, 50 more hp at the rear wheels and wider tires.
Is it sunday????
I don't think I've ever seen a silver car with black accent's that wouldn't look better in white.
Soo close to that contrasty punch, and yet so very far.
Nothing against a Prius but my LE 2017 Camry literally gets 50 miles per gallon average 44 mpg on highway miles at 70 mph
My mom had one of these. I’m a pretty objective person. That said, there was literally nothing to like besides the MPGs.
One thing you miss and maybe should be added to all your reviews. Maintenance required and longevity. People who own these say they have 200,000 trouble free driving and at 200,000 miles the car looks and runs like brand new.
Absolutely. I have owned 2, my first I traded off at 275k miles, my current one is at 180k. I never had any problems with either one.
I drive with my back seats down for better rear visibility.

I prefer the Kia Niro hybrid for it's normalness.
There is an emotion factor to the Prius and that emotion is ennui
I test drove one (used) and it was very squirmy and didn’t feel solid. I wouldn’t buy one with all these other options.

All I know is that a Prius always seems to be in the way when I'm driving.
Dont care how it looks. Its an appliance.
i rerembe rthis guy as the guy from new top gear, im not bothering to check but the true new top gear is hagerty and savagese on youtube

You only know what Toyota wants you to know about the 5th gen.
Man those are hideous still.
Isn’t Honda killing off the insight?
I feel like this car gets uglier and uglier with every redesign/update. The 2nd gen actually looked the best imo. Positive emotion factor is a...0.
Toyota seems to have an uncanny knack for perpetually making an ugly car even uglier in its next generation
