VW is the second largest automaker in the world based on volume and top automaker based on revenue data from May 2024 at a whopping 299 billion. They can’t be that bad lol. Just no love for VW in the US market and not so strong in North America in general. Most that post against them have owned one years ago or haven’t owned one period.
My 2019 Golf Sportwagen has 70,000 miles with no issues. It needs no oil in 7000 mile oil change intervals and consistently gets 40 mpg on the freeway at 70 mph. It still has the original battery. It really is the best car I have owned and at 76 I have owned a lot of cars. It will be even better when VW sells a PHEV version.
Some people harbor deep hatred for VW. But also remember that the YT comments peanut gallery is made up of paid bots (Japan Inc?) that love to spread misinformation, lies and controversy.
The 2025 Jetta has a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder making 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The Taos weighs more and is less aerodynamic so it needs the extra power, and it gets significantly less mpg than the Jetta. The torque is the same. The Honda Civic 2.0-liter four-cylinder is only 150 horsepower and 133 pound-feet of torque. The Jetta has plenty of power.
Check out the China market VW Sagitar which is a nicer and more proper version of this Jetta/GLI. You’ll find a better quality interior, rear seat AC vents, usb C rear ports, adjustable rear headrests, ambient lighting, nicer leather, nicer plastics. Goes to show that VW doesn’t think NA customers for these cars want or desire better interior or amenities.
Our channel was built with GoPros but constant overheating and video capture issues pushed us to DJI. We just shot a complicated helicopter video and our DJI gear performed flawlessly.
@@MicahMuzio yeah Alex on autos and Sofyan both have commented on the overheating and audio issues throughout the years. Crazy how a company with such a market monopoly and name could let themselves be relegated to such 😔
The rear windows seem like they should down further. 80% should be the minimum 🤔 Is the Jetta offered in a wagon now? They used to offer one or do they just tell you to "get a golf" ...in German 🤨
The Passat wagon you can get in other countries is equivalent to a Jetta wagon. Golf wagons are still available in other countries. I have a 2019 Golf Sportwagen, the end of the line for Golf wagons in North America. The Canadians loved the Golf Alltrack wagons.
This car is old already, 6 years in production since 2019. You won’t see significant improvements on those tests until the next generation (A8). This is the last refresh for the current Jetta/GLI. Expect a new car come 2027-2028
Americans turned their backs to station wagons 30 Years ago. They thought a Ford Exploder made them look macho and adventurous 😂 Ah the SUV and pickup truck lies!😂 anyway, VW tried selling station wagons here and none sold in any significant numbers. They finally pulled the plug on the Alltrack Golf wagon after the 2019 model year. Blame American car buyers and the savvy manufacturer marketeers that push SUVs and brain wash people into buying them. After all, SUVs , pickup trucks, etc are HUGE profit centers for car markers.
@@rizzlerazzleuno4733Yeah I would buy a B9 Euro Passat wagon but their current powertrains in Europe do not impress me. And I always thought the B8 Passat wagon (Previous model) looked sooo much better than the B9. The B9 looks like an inflated MK8 Golf GTI to be honest.
@@Pamlicojdjdj1487 Yeah, I always wanted a TDI Alltrack, actually a Skoda Yeti 😂, but they did us dirty. VW is just like any other manufacturer right now, They should be different, should pump up euro cars, but no stupid suvs only. I am so glad with my GTI, one of the last smaller cars in the US.
@@Pamlicojdjdj1487 In the US the minivan replaced the station wagon. Then the SUV craze replaced most minivans, then the truck makers all added 4 door models that have replaced most everything. All I see as I drive across the US are F-150, Ram, and Silverado/Sierra being used as commuter vehicles. In the 50s-80s who could have guessed so many people would choose huge trucks and land yacht SUVs as commuter transportation? Station wagons (estates) are still quite popular in Europe.
I have definitely made that kind of mistake before but I just double checked fueleconomy.gov and it looks like the manual is indeed the more efficient GLI. 26 city/36 hwy...with the dual-clutch ranking 1mpg lower for both city and highway driving.
@@MicahMuzioYes but you still managed to miss a little detail. The Jetta uses an 8 speed Toyota derived Aisin automatic while the GLI uses a 7 Speed VW DSG transmission. Also the GLI has more power (228HP vs 158HP for the standard Jetta).
@MicahMuzio I was going by information from Fairfield Volkswagen here in Ohio. They have a 2025 white GLI 6 speed manual and their listing claims 24-35 for economy but checking on it the window sticker says 26-36. Gotta love dealership misinformation
Want to like it, but I keep hearing “bad” stuff about VW! I really like the design, but I don’t want to get to know the mechanic on a monthly basis! I guess it all started with that “new beetle” they came out with.
I haven't had any issues with my 21 s. My only complaint is I should have went for an auto (too much traffic) and should have gone for SE trim. Ride and for the length of the warranty then trade it in.
VW killed the far superior Arteon, discontinued the Passat in 2022 and left this warmed over 2019+ Mexican made Jetta (With 2 refreshes) as the sole sedan in US VW showrooms🤦🏻. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer a Jetta over an idiotic Civic or Corolla (The most overrated and overhyped pieces of rolling junk in automotive history), but the Jetta itself is not perfect and suffers from compromises as it is built to a price point. Hard to forgive VW for missing the opportunity to improve the amenities and user experience for rear seat passengers by neglecting to add rear AC vents, rear 45w USB-C ports, adjustable headrests in the outer positions of the rear seats, improve the plastics used in the rear door cards and move away from the aweful sounding Beats stereo. But also very hard to forgive VW for discontinuing the far far superior Arteon (Made in Germany) in exchange for the failed ID.7 electric liftback sedan that has been permanently cancelled for the North American market. Not to mention the ID.7 is UGLY and has Nothing on the gorgeous Arteon that preceded it. Anyone considering a Jetta GLI should take a closer look at the MK8/MK8.5 GTI that remedies a lot of the deficiencies and issues found in the 2025 Jetta/GLI for not much more money. And remember kids, the GTI/Golf R both currently manufactured in Germany! My 2023 MK8 GTI SE DSG has been flawless (2 years old) and it is a league above any current Jetta/GLI at ANY price.
VW fits rear seat heaters but can’t seem to spend the extra $10 per car to fit far more useful rear seat AC vents and USB C charging ports. Reality is, rear seat passengers in a 2025 Jetta/GLI are third class citizens 😂
Lack of rear AC vents aside, it's a well packaged car but it evokes no emotion from me. It's so bland looking. It looks like just a car. It's very Ford Taurus-like. It looks like something I'd draw as a kid. Edit: this is the Tori Amos of compact sedans. Just doesn't move me.
Oh man. Why does every thought I’ve ever had have to show up on my face?! 🤦🏻♀️ My expression wasn’t related to Micah’s comment but you’re right that I’m preoccupied. I had some bad news the week we shot this video. But, even with occasional challenging video shoots, I really love reviewing cars with my family. Thanks for your concern!
It’s starting to feel like it’s mainly the manufacturers who are struggling with reputation and image(VW, Genesis, etc) that are paying the Muzios to review their vehicles.
I would like to lease one, weird, but not for VW the sign and drive does not include the Jetta, I believe that the Jetta could save VW, make it a sign and drive so people can take a chance on it, more people who like more people will buy it. Make your job dependent on reliability. But again this is VW.
Hi Toyota bot, the killer here is the lies and misconception that Toyota and Honda still make reliable cars as they did back in the 1980s and 1990s. Newsflash! Here in 2024 a VW is as reliable as any Japan Inc car. Furthermore, a VW requires strict adherence to its factory servicing schedule and oil changes every 5K miles. If you do that, This Jetta or any other VW will give you years dependable service just as your beloved Corolla.
VW is a notorious lemon manufacturer. Not sure why anyone in their right mind would ever think about purchasing anything from them to help them stay in business

Same interior. Rear seat area still low rent with zero amenities. Avoid this car and get a German made GTI with much better interior quality and proper rear seat area amenities (AC vents, rear USB C ports, adjustable rear headrests and better quality plastics)
They changed the Jetta just enough imo to make it more desirable. How is the Beats sound quality?
Beautiful refresh, just wish they used a more updated infotainment screen
Catch 22. That infotainment works great. The larger next gen in my mk8 gti is not as smooth and responsive.
I’ll agree with you on that! I work for VW. Just want something new. (Not like the atlas and the current infotainment issues we are seeing with it.)
@@nickyroy00Atlas is garbage. That vehicle is single handed destroying VW quality ratings in North America. They need to either revamp or shutdown the Chattanooga factory. They make junk. Either that or VW Group of America selects bottom of the barrel US based parts suppliers. Atlas is the one VW to stay away from.
@@nickyroy00Well I love the same MIB3 Discover Media infotainment in my 2023 Arteon SEL Premium and prefer it over the same
MiB 3 with the larger 10.2 screen on my 2023 MK8 GTI. If it ain’t broken, why fix it? MiB 4 in the current ID.4, ID.Buzz and upcoming MK8.5 GTI/Golf R seems to be improved but also get mixed reviews and the screen while larger looks tacked on and out of place in the dash (That was originally designed for the 10.2 in the MK8 GTI/Golf R).
How hard is it to find one with a manual transmission these days?
A friend of mine said his Passat was the best car he ever owned. But he hated paying $500 at every oil change. I drive Nissans.
Haha! I didn't expect the AI song to be in German 😂 What a great idea 💡 Now you'll have to do the AI song in the language of the country (or in the accent of the state. Hello Tennessee!) the vehicle is built in.
Oooh. That sounds like an excellent test for AI. Can it pronounce Louisville correctly?!?!
Will you be reviewing the updated Taos and Tiguan?
As soon as we can get our hands on them, absolutely!
I hope they put the 174 HP updated 1.5 from the taos in this.
Today I learned GoPro sucks and DJI is the new standard 😂
Right!!
I feel like GoPro has squandered any lead they have in the action cam market by just being too slow and not innovative.
Our channel was built with GoPros but constant overheating and video capture issues pushed us to DJI. We just shot a complicated helicopter video and our DJI gear performed flawlessly.
@@MicahMuzio DJI is the best. DJI Automotive in China has some incredible self driving tech too
@@MicahMuzio yeah Alex on autos and Sofyan both have commented on the overheating and audio issues throughout the years. Crazy how a company with such a market monopoly and name could let themselves be relegated to such 😔
The rear windows seem like they should down
further. 80% should be the minimum 🤔
Is the Jetta offered in a wagon now?
They used to offer one or do they just
tell you to "get a golf" ...in German 🤨
No wagon and no Golf in the US anymore.😢
The Passat wagon you can get in other countries is equivalent to a Jetta wagon. Golf wagons are still available in other countries. I have a 2019 Golf Sportwagen, the end of the line for Golf wagons in North America. The Canadians loved the Golf Alltrack wagons.
I bet if you actually Dino to it gets more than the horsepower they say because Volkswagen always does that
Sounds great, but what about reliability? That's not normally a strong suit of VW's.
My 2 VWs have been flawless
(2023 GTI and Arteon). Keep on top of schedule
Maintenance and change oil every 5K miles. Mine have been flawless
Lease only until warranty runs out and make sure you like your dealership's service department and that they give loaners every time.
False😂
“Rear seat warmer”, hahaha, even after the joke being over explained.
Has any car ever scored 100% on both sides of the elbow test?
This car is old already, 6 years in production since 2019. You won’t see significant improvements on those tests until the next generation (A8). This is the last refresh for the current Jetta/GLI. Expect a new car come 2027-2028
@ what? 😂
The cheapened the interior. Compare the 24 and 25 back to back, and you’ll notice how they put glossy black plastic everywhere.
So sad we don't have wagons anymore.
Yep, got 70,000 miles on my 2019 Golf Sportwagon and it is the best wagon ever, though I would like a PHEV Passat wagon which is available in Europe.
Americans turned their backs to station wagons 30
Years ago.
My last VW was a Passat 4Motion V6 wagon. Smooth ride and loved the styling but so unreliable.
Why her voice sounds like "Olive" papai 😊
You got the fuel economy of the manual and automatic gli backwards. The auto gets better economy
@ If our roles were reversed, I would’ve believes the window sticker too.
Is the actual screen size same as large smart phone?
What do you think? Show me a phone that is 8 inches screen (iPads don’t count)
Nice to get rid of the Go Pros!
Evie: "it's small and oddly shaped"
Me: Why do women keep saying that to me?
😂
Word of the day: nodule
VW, unfortunately has dismal reliability ratings. I used to own one. It suffered 6 electronics failures within 2 years. Never again!
The most reliable thing on my GTI was the check engine light.
Funny, my 2017 mk7 Golf hit 120k miles without a single issue! Most reliable car I ever had. I miss that thing

But I always appreciate a real volume knob. All capacitive controls need to GO.
get the Civic, VW's are nightmares and have low resale value
It’s starting to feel like it’s mainly the manufacturers who are struggling with reputation and image(VW, Genesis, etc) that are paying the Muzios to review their vehicles.
She is growing like a weed!
I would like to lease one, weird, but not for VW the sign and drive does not include the Jetta, I believe that the Jetta could save VW, make it a sign and drive so people can take a chance on it, more people who like more people will buy it. Make your job dependent on reliability. But again this is VW.
You want a hand out? How about get a better paying job so you don’t have to sign and drive
The game killer is the reliability
Hi Toyota bot, the killer here is the lies and misconception that Toyota and Honda still make reliable cars as they did back in the 1980s and 1990s. Newsflash! Here in 2024 a VW is as reliable as any Japan Inc car. Furthermore, a VW requires strict adherence to its factory servicing schedule and oil changes every 5K miles. If you do that, This Jetta or any other VW will give you years dependable service just as your beloved Corolla.
if VW would've made it *hybrid*
I'd be buying it yesterday !
*sigh....

Nissan?😂🤢
VW is a notorious lemon manufacturer. Not sure why anyone in their right mind would ever think about purchasing anything from them to help them stay in business
For the same reasons people buy Jeeps, Land Rovers, BMWs… they simply like the car. To each their own. Are they spending your money?
@@Splendid_Lad No, but I'm glad I'm not that crazy or moronic

I feel old... remember when Jetta was a quality car?
When was a quality car? 😂 are you joking right? Those early 2000s Piech era Jettas looked like budget BMW 3 Series with the gorgeous interiors and tidy exterior looks but they were mostly garbage where the customer could not see and touch 😂
With all the choices you have with other manufacturers, why would you purchase a volkswagen?
Funny thing in life, no one needs your approval to buy what they want.
