One Chapter on Saturday Morning and One on Sunday. Every Week with my wife and coffee. LOVE this verse by verse. Why don't pastors do this? Just teach straight through the bible! Verse by verse.

Mr. Heitzig, (not sure whether to say Pastor, Reverend, etc, so pardon my lack of formality) I just want you to know that this series is changing my life. I'm a 40 year old woman who has always rejected religion. Always. However, I stumbled across your channel a few weeks ago, and God inspired me. He was there. I study the Word diligently now, and I pray several times a day. I'm HAPPY rather than filled with anxiety like I have been in all my years past. I just wanted to reach out to you to make sure you knew that you are doing wonderful work, and if you can help a sinner like me ask Jesus to come into my life, I'm convinced you can help just about anyone see the light.
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending me to Calvary Church and to Mr. Heitzig, whose unique and compelling way of teaching Your Word reached out to a lifelong sinner who has always rejected your Word. Forgive me my past sins and help me to grow closer to You through these teachings, the Holy Bible, and prayer. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I am so happy for you! I have been saved for many years, have waned and waffled. Now I'm settled after much stress, and studying the bible one chapter a day, and learning about the Lord, wanting a close relationship with him. I love listening to Skip, and other Calvary Chapel pastors!

"Only one way to understand scripture. That is a literal, grammatical, and historic approach." Is it just me or that three ways to understand scripture?
    1) There are definite exceptions to literal understanding. We know this because the Bible itself points it out. In Daniel for example there are dreams and visions Daniel has that are explained to him later by an Angel. In the Gospels it says we have to be "born again'. The apostles didn't understand so Jesus explained what he meant by being "Born again".
There are also passages, especially in Genesis that shouldn't be taken literally. They are definitely allegories if you take them in context where they are placed in scripture. I don't want to receive a torrent of counterpoint at this point so I won't bring them up here.
    2) Grammatical - Several times translators need to correct the grammar of those who authored the Bible. Several passages have words added for clarification. Also Paul has used Greek slang which isn't the precise word (the passive male in homosexual relationship for example he used in Romans 1.
    3) Historical - I think Skip probably meant 'in context with the period, taking into account cultural differences at the time". For example when the scripture said that women were not allowed to speak in church and wait until later to ask their husbands, he was addressing a church where the local custom was that it was considered impolite and improper for women to question (challenge) men in public. So in order to keep the peace at that church Paul encouraged married women to wait until they got home.

Extensive language is used many times in Genesis. For example, all the earth came to Egypt for food under Joseph. Do we think that everyone on earth came to Egypt? The boat could have been built to that size to withstand the rushing water or other reasons. God's reasons for having the boat built are to save Noah and his family and to provide safety for some of the animals. Finally, this was no simple local flood. It was very likely a massive flood that possibly killed millions. We have never seen that again. I like this guy a lot. I enjoy his sermons very much. He needs to dial back the language that this could not be a large regional flood. That simply is not true. Christians should not do this. They should say I believe this or that. He makes it sound like if you don't agree with him, you are calling God a liar. It's disappointing to see that. BTW I am open to either interpretation.

Makes one wonder why all the craters on the moon are basically in one quarter...kinda if the inner earth pressures when they broke open maybe flung parts of earth a million miles an hour outward. Chuck missler has a good video on this.

I believe he is wearing those clothes to prevent himself from being naked in front of thousands of people. His shirt protects his chest from being viewed and his jeans cover his private parts.
