Remember that frugality is the direct opposite of what society wants you to be. So it takes focus and discipline to be frugal because life wants you to be wasteful and reckless. In fact, the economy depends on everyone being loose with their cash.. don't be the majority.
The Vanderbilts were billionaires frugal living but the children and grandchildren it seems they went on a spending spree they are not billionaires anymore 😢😢
Your take on life and frugality is so refreshing. Many podcasts etc focus on making tons of money, including working "side hustles, in hopes of becoming millionaires. I just want to live a simple and fulfilling life, doing the things I live, while taking care of the money I have.
Frugality also forces a person to be more creative. It's easy to see something and just buy it. But I enjoy seeing something I like and think" can I make that?" Or can I buy it second hand? Or maybe it's worth saving up for. I make my own clothes, curtains, bedspreads, I can re- upholster old furniture and generally try to make presents for people. I forage for wild fruits and make jams and chutney etc. I steal from skips and repaint furniture people throw out. I am loving your frugal tips! Keep it up Austin!
Thanks, Austin! Being frugal gives you the wealth of having choices. We have raised our kids to be frugal, and they have thanked us as adults that they don't have student loans and car payments as they start their adult lives!

Americans are rich in so many ways compared with other cultures. I have friends who visited parts of Mexico where they don't eat unless they find something. Their clothes are barely classified as such. As Americans we poorly handle our money and end up broke. I remember going to Virginia for a 4th of July festival and paying my mom's way. She and I went home by touring. It ended up being a lovely trip. I saved for that trip. My husband and I took that trip after we got married. This country offers so many incredible places we've seen. My mother insisted on going with me. I'm glad she did. Frugality allows me to carry a $35 designer purse. I bought it online. My parents were extremely frugal. My son was able to do something similar, living at home and commuting (our car, our insurance) with a small amount of college debt (because i also saved money toward his schooling). But, what you've omitted here is that living at home and your parents support (financial and otherwise) is what helped make that happen. No rent or living expenses is huge. They have a huge home, two high end vehicles, a lake home. And they lavish expensive gifts onto my grands. Thanks Agustin, I hope to follow your example of frugality too! Love your story. I understand that not only were you frugal, but also hardworking and very motivated. Thanks for the continued inspiration !
Frugality has enabled me to make choices in life. When I was in my 20's I had my children and my desire and dream was to stay at home and raise them. My husband worked at his job, while it was my job to stretch every cent. This enabled me to fulfil that dream and I was able to stay home with my children until they reached high school. I'm now 56 and continue to live my frugal lifestyle, this enables me to work part time and enjoy the life I want to live.
Catherine congrats. You've done a great job by staying at home, I want to have the same privilege when I get my own children. I already live very frugal, so I'm saving/investing a lot to feel more confortable financially before quit the corporate world.

Austin, great video. You have such a drive and sense of purpose. I would love to see a video where you cite specific examples of how you are frugal. What did you not do, what did you compromise, what did you sacrifice? It would be great to see a 10 point video with very specific stories of your experiences with frugality. I get the concept, would love to know details. Bet they are similar to choices we have made, would love to hear it.
Thank you for sharing the details of you path so far. I am eager to share with my 15 yo daughter. We’ve begun talking about using the CC in our backyard to give her a head start on college and financial stability. I hope this resonates with her:). I would change much if I had known this 30 years ago! 😊
You have much more passion in this video than your others. I can tell you REALLY mean what you say. I was listening extra carefully to this one, El Agustin, especially to when college being worth it. It's like you were just speaking to only me. I swear it..🥰😊
Yes!! Congrats on living your best life and encouraging others to do the same with your testimony. It’s wonderful to see you succeed via own path. I wish more people would catch this lifestyle and vision. I hope your channel BLOWS UP!!!!!!!!
I went to community college right after high school, because I didn't want to go $40k+ into debt. A lot of the people that bragged about going to big 4 year schools wound up in community college with me due to messing around and not staying focused during their senior year.
So wise...I wish I had your wisdom when I was young. But I had no great plans or even give anything about money so I just gave everything away by buying gifts for everybody. And now I can just get by being sick and living from disability. But I still have no great wishes 😅
This video is just so encouraging💪Yes, I can! A massive thank you for your dedication in supporting people like me (in the north🇪🇪) in their frugality trial.🤗
Well, this was a particularly inspiring video talk and I really want to comment on a few of the points but what I say is not a critisism of your experience or way but more of a contrast. I actually agree with every word you say but, there's that "but" ......oh well. Community College sounds like what in the UK is the Open University. Its a proper university education and you pay a fee but of course much less than actually being at a university ie a stone or brick one! And you can do it while working full time and some people do it when they retire as they always wanted to but couldn't before. I grew up in a "frugal" household. We had no heating so we shivered all winter,we never went on holiday,we ate sparingly. Our bathroom was...we didn't want to go there. It was like bathing at the North Pole. And eventually as I got older I realised this sort of frugality was dumb. It wasnt FOR anything. Its not like my parents were saving up for a better life. It was a sort of inverse or perverse ego trip to sort of convince ourselves that we were BETTER than all our neighbours because we werent materialistic and "keeping up with the Jones". But of course that's not the sort of "frugality" you are talking about. Also travel is I think much easier for a young man than a young woman. I mean solitary independent travel, the more adventurous kind. Not that I wanted to hack through jungles and scale rock faces. In fact I think for all the nonsense talk nowadays about "girl power" and "equality" it's probably MORE dangerous now for young women than it was in the 1960s,70s,even 80s. My friend but I didn't know her then really did all that, blagged her way around the world back in those days. Her stories! While I was slogging away paying bills. Its hard to save even if you live with your parents if you're the one paying the bills. Sorry for my slight grumpiness. Somehow "girl power" passed me by. So it's surprising after all this that I am into frugality but the right kind. Also I have traduced my parents and made them sound like monsters but they werent, they were both lovely but had weird money ideas. (As in "money is evil").
Thank you for your content! I'm in the process of reorganizing my life, downsizing again and re-evaluating where I should live. Having been in Vegas for a bit, it is no longer affordable and tired of getting so little in return. It was affordable but no longer so my plan of paying off my last remaining debt is not happening... I'm just spinning my wheels as there's not much more I can cut out. Tell us about living in Colorado Springs... the affordability factor, etc... Thinking of relocating to So. Central CO or Northern NM..... I need mountains in my life!
Austin, could you please make a video sharing your mindset about setting goals? Being frugal and content can have an adverse affect on goal-setting. I don't really know what I want in life anymore as I have everything I NEED. I've been to 15+ different countries, bought a house with my partner, lived overseas for one year, and now am making great progress with my career, which I enjoy (so far). I'm still frugal but it's hard to determine what I should be frugal for anymore.
Maybe you could support a child in a poor country. There are some charities you can do it through so it's all legit and properly organized. Just an idea.
All depends on what you consider rich. At 29, I was the father of 3 kids. And now at 50, I am an empty nester. There is no right or wrong way to run your life, as long as it works the best for you. Saying that, I have been frugal all my life due to being rasied poor. And as becoming a father, I followed that, to an extent and worked a lot of extra hours. But with kids and all that go with it, sometimes, you have no control over the money being spent. I have friends that waited to have kids, and now I have some my age with 3 year old kids. So they wont be able to retire until maybe 70, because their kids will be still at home. is that good or bad, no one knows
I always say if you can buy something for 50% off the regular price you have doubled your after tax income. If you combine this with not buying useless items and services then you can save some serious $$
I love your videos. I am one of eight children and nothing has ever been given to me. I have lived and worked in 6 different countries without anybodys financial help. I save where I can, so I can spend where I want!
Congrats Savannah. That's me too. Since 17 I don't depend at anybody even living at home. I'm 35 now, being frugal helped me to be debt free and enjoy the life I want. I work my ass off and I can retire if I want, cause I have saved and invested enough that can support me for a life time.

I love your perspective and try to watch all of your videos. Not only do I end up smiling, but I learn so much. I try to make sure I like all of your videos and provide a comment to help the engagement. I've been having fun watching the numbers go up!
Thank you for such a great video. I share your videos with my kids and friends, and I will for sure be sharing this one. Frugality is my way of life, and a secret weapon in these days of rising prices.
Great video Augustin 💪🏽
Thank you for sharing the details of you path so far. I am eager to share with my 15 yo daughter. We’ve begun talking about using the CC in our backyard to give her a head start on college and financial stability. I hope this resonates with her:). I would change much if I had known this 30 years ago! 😊
Your enthusiasm is amasing. Thank you for that!
Congrats Austin this gave me courage to start a youtube. TH-cam friend in frugality, travel & living intentional. - Melanie
Good luck!
Hola, Just found your channel a few days ago and I am really enjoying you and your content. I am inspired to be better with my money. Gracias Austin 😊
So far so good!
Very inspiring. Great story.
Another great video Augustin!
I hope you enjoyed Dublin. Greetings from Ireland.
Austin is here changing lifes. Thank you so much. Loving your videos keep the amazing work 🙌🏻
We need more songs from you Austin along with your enriching life lessons....love from India 🇮🇳
Love this chat from you Austin your a clever cookie🌈❤️😀
Thanks!
Wow, thanks!!!!!!
El Agustine! Thanks for sharing your perspective, it’s been great info
Awww I'm delightful to know that you've been in Spain 😊😊 Hope you did enjoy the journey
This was your greatest video!!!
Excellent video Austin 👍 so inspiring 🏴
This is your best video yet. I'm going to share it.
Thanks!
Great video 😀
Austin, could you please make a video sharing your mindset about setting goals? Being frugal and content can have an adverse affect on goal-setting. I don't really know what I want in life anymore as I have everything I NEED. I've been to 15+ different countries, bought a house with my partner, lived overseas for one year, and now am making great progress with my career, which I enjoy (so far). I'm still frugal but it's hard to determine what I should be frugal for anymore.
Maybe you could support a child in a poor country. There are some charities you can do it through so it's all legit and properly organized. Just an idea.
bravo austin best compliment to your work is that you,ve upset The Man he does not like it up him keep it going regards xxx
I also went to a community college. No debt and making a 6 figure salary.
It was lovely hear that you visited Ireland. I sincerely hope you return one day and do a meet and greet 😊
It'll always hold a special place in my heart being the first place I've ever been abroad! The people are so friendly...and talk really funny!
Hopefully you got used to the accent after a while! It is a beautiful country 🇮🇪 glad you choose it as your first place to visit 😀
Yes and be sure to make that meet and greet in Cork 🇮🇪 ha ha

Wise beyond your years Mr Austin Williams
Horses for courses....
@@stephanietaylor3979 No idea what that means
@@TheCelmap Frugality is the best! I see so many people wasting their hard earned money. Not us!
@@asavannah7439 for sure! I want spend my money careless because it doesn't come easy for me. I work extremely hard so I chose where to spend my hard earning.
I watched this a year after it was posted. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say something and I thought gosh he’s bragging so yes shout it from the rooftops you can live the life you want just by being frugal!
Love the dream glad you got to travel
This was a good story. Really makes ya think 🤔 Today I can say that I’m finally on my way to change everything for the better when it comes to managing my money. I believe discovering your channel was meant to be. Watching your videos really helped me sooo much! I think that you are just the best! 👍👌❤️

Wow..what an incredible and motivating video..thanks for sharing 👏
Love your content! Thanks so much for always encouraging us to stay the course on frugality 😃
Nice to hear your story! Thank you for sharing with us!
Gracias! Veo todos tus videos. 👍🏽
I am a living proof too. Educating my kids currently about community College Especially! Great video
I would rather have a passport full of stamps VS a house full of stuff ! ❤️
Exactly!
Exactly Georgia. House full of stuff make you waste so much time by trying to keep up them clean and in place.
Rather spend my time doing something else but cleaning.
Thank you for this video with a positive message! I agree 100% that frugality should be normalized along with community colleges and trade schools. Also buying second hand items. It's better for the environment to be less materialistic. 💙🌍💚
Wow! You're an inspiration.
Thank you so much for sharing your incredible frugal journey! Que bueno, Señor Augustin!
