first guy obviously recognised it from Trainspotting, forgot the artist then Iggy Pop 'popped' into his head because the archetypal Trainspotting song is Lust for Life by Iggy Pop
Now in contemporary UC, this kind of music round is more of the norm than the outlier. There's just so much classical music out there that the question setters now have to expand to the non-classic but still academically relevant songs.
*ME TOO lmao "probably gonna be trainspotting and therefore gonna be born slippy" and then I was angry that nobody knew it even once the music actually started
What the time when the students identified a tune as "L'apres de midi d'un faun", "Firebird " and "Sheherezade", and the correct answe was "the Kilingon Battle Theme from Star Trek"?
@smokebomb213 I know the song very well, just like i know many famous big hit pop songs, doesn't mean I know its fucking name or who "wrote" it. As if this has anything to do with being a nerd, its about musical taste.
That's exactly the point, though. The thing with A-Levels is that anybody of low intelligence but who is willing to put the work in and memorise everything can get a good grade. But the thing with Oxbridge is precisely that unlike other universities, they are not A-Level-centric; their admissions are based on interview, where you are required to demonstrated actual intelligence (creative and/or rational), not list a bunch of facts.
@@gorgolyt that’s true. We can thank Oxbridge for such visionary geniuses as Liz Truss, Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees Mogg. Total incompetence coupled with a total lack of ability and self awareness.
@TheEclecticism Indeed. Though I'm not sure jealousy is the reason I found his answer highly amusing. I think in some ways I found it kinda cute. Like when a small child makes a naive assumption. Anyway I do humbly apologise for being mean, both to you and to the poor chap who's being slated in the vid. Enjoy the rest of the week. =)
whats with all the dislikes, its fuckin born slippy one of the best songs ever made and the fucker thought it was iggy pop. thats some funny shit in my book.
Kinda, I guess. It's more about just being able to think creatively and rigorously. But being able to evaluate what you've done afterwards is a part of it I suppose.
@thatjohnharveyboy Is the point not that people who are jealous of these clearly talented young individuals need to find flaws with which to mock them, so as to ignore their own insufficiencies?
people who go to oxford and cambridge do not have to be posh, that is a sterotype of those schools, yes it seems the most of them do appear 'posh' but not all of them are, i know you were not saying that all oxford or cambridge students are posh, but im just clearing up that notion of saying they are
All true Underworld fans will know the name of the song is actually "Born Slippy .NUXX" and not Born Slippy. Radio DJ's and music channels almost always refer to the song as Born Slippy because that is the name of the single, however it's not the actual track. "Born Slippy" which is just instrumental, is a completely unrelated track and sounds nothing like the famous NUXX track. However NUXX first appeard as the b side to Born Slippy in 1995. Here it is /watch?v=3Fr1x-N3-k8
Wow. That's quite a lot of dislikes. Harsh but fair I'd say. I cannot believe I just clicked on a YT link where suggested further click is: "Harshest Deal or No Deal Outcome Ever!!!" In fact, make me another dislike.
Let me guess, you think it's the best question ever because you knew the answer?
that was a waste of 43 seconds
This makes me feel a lot better about not knowing the answers to all the questions on medieval poetry
Iggy Pop was an educated guess as Lust For Life is arguably the most famous/well known track from Trainspotting
first guy obviously recognised it from Trainspotting, forgot the artist then Iggy Pop 'popped' into his head because the archetypal Trainspotting song is Lust for Life by Iggy Pop
Every British student in the 90s should be able to answer this within three seconds.
Al-Hourani is shouting 'Lager! Lager! Lager!'
Now in contemporary UC, this kind of music round is more of the norm than the outlier. There's just so much classical music out there that the question setters now have to expand to the non-classic but still academically relevant songs.
I think it's refreshing. Good to hear the forefront of music nowadays, whether in pioneering electronica or societal poetry in hip hop.
The woman who answered was seriously beautiful/
Dutch people from that age know Born Slippy as well. You just made me listen to it again.
I need Jungle, I'm afraid.
haha i knew it was gonna be underworld by trainspotting the second he said 1996
*ME TOO lmao "probably gonna be trainspotting and therefore gonna be born slippy" and then I was angry that nobody knew it even once the music actually started
Exactly! lol 😂
What the time when the students identified a tune as "L'apres de midi d'un faun", "Firebird " and "Sheherezade", and the correct answe was "the Kilingon Battle Theme from Star Trek"?
Ooer, popular culture? And the boffs go in to panic
I knew both answers as soon as he said 'British film 1996'!
Bennett-Spragg, what a name.
Didn’t everyone not answer the question (correctly) before even hearing the sample?!
Fascinating question indeed, most unusual phenomenon.
Iggy Pop? AHAHHAHAHAAH
tbf he had a song in that film
Lol Years later I still laugh at WTF thought this was the best UG Question
Why exactly is this the best question ever?.
Because his daughter answered it..
knew it was born slippy but couldnt think of the band name.
Possibly the only question I have ever got right on this show
Underworld - if you don;t know this you have missed the point of life.
In what way is the best question ever? It's just a piece of pop trivia.
I can hardly contain myself 😏
Put your analyst on danger money baby.
On another day (or if he hadn't fancied her, maybe) he wouldn't have accepted the answer as she gave the song title first.
Underworld are amazing, true gods of Electronic Music
WTF!!!!! That was so easy.........
haha the only question i would ever get right on that show
They were born silly
AL QUATADA HAS OBVIOUSLY PARTIED HAHA
I think a question that would stump them is "What is it like to have sexual intercourse?"
@smokebomb213 I know the song very well, just like i know many famous big hit pop songs, doesn't mean I know its fucking name or who "wrote" it.
As if this has anything to do with being a nerd, its about musical taste.
Reach for the Top.... British style
Didnt georgie porgie kiss the girls to make them cry 😭😂

Thats true. And you only need 14 million UCAS points from a top private school to get to the interview stage.
@@gsw007 That's totally wrong, in 2023 less than 30% of Cambridge admissions were from private schools. But please, keep grinding that axe.
Based on your comment, the thing about Oxbridge is they produce some real bellends who think they are superior to everyone else.
@@wanderingbrummie They don't think it, they know it.
@@gorgolyt that’s true. We can thank Oxbridge for such visionary geniuses as Liz Truss, Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees Mogg. Total incompetence coupled with a total lack of ability and self awareness.
Well done al-hourani, the lil raver.
i got that in 1 second, unlike these oxbridge types ha
@TheFlashands It really is.

Cheesemongers and Emporers Chambermaids disagree
I think that the person writing the title, might have studied at Buckingham University?
The fuck has this got to do with Hans Gruber?
hahahahahahahahaa iggy pop hahahahahahahaahaha
i knew what the answer was when i read it in the comment section.
o....k is this what uni students find hilarious.
Coleman looks like simon amstell :P

Iggy Pop ??? Time to cut back on the wacky baccy St John Orr
the girl who got the question right is SOOOOO hot.
@PINCHUNO i presume the uploader is a huge fan of either the song or the film... but this is just a guess :)
dude thought it was Iggy Pop smh
I watched this when it was broadcast, I said the answer before they'd played the music! I mean British film 1996 what else could it be?
@NB32 But... but I get all those... and not the ones on modern music... *sniff*
whats with all the dislikes, its fuckin born slippy one of the best songs ever made and the fucker thought it was iggy pop. thats some funny shit in my book.
@DannyEnglish100 The University experience is well known for its lack of sex...
Just how was that question so good?
@DannyEnglish100 with an actual alive human being
Kinda, I guess. It's more about just being able to think creatively and rigorously. But being able to evaluate what you've done afterwards is a part of it I suppose.
D'OH!
Iggy Pop, fknll, clueless.
She has double dropped to this one..
What was the point of posting this?
@thatjohnharveyboy Is the point not that people who are jealous of these clearly talented young individuals need to find flaws with which to mock them, so as to ignore their own insufficiencies?
iggy pop?
She's very cute !

@emperormiester No you didn't. No they didn't
I don't know who that is a reply to but it is sadly true that we British are humorless now......still, you've got to laugh haven't you.
North Korea brought me here.
lol Iggy Pop?
@jimmy2k4o its not underworld by trainspotting, its born slippy by underworld from trainspotting...

@geordiewright Underworld

"Best questions ever"?....You need to get out more.....
She didn't even get it right??
Jesus. Why is this video worth putting on TH-cam?

Calm down.
Lol

"...EVER"? Really?
@coolharry1236 Extremely well educated but socially lacking individuals are not weird... They are different.
What was the song called?
How many teeth has that bird got in her mouth? I mean I know she's british but those teeth are bad even for one of them.
The only question I have ever correctly answered on the programme.
@properdumb
What's he like?
Remove the word 'Ever' and replace 'Best' with "A", and you'd have a much better rated (but less-viewed) video.
@sams2471992 Skulduggery Pleasant by any chance?
I knew both answers when he said '96'
Also randomly, I know Karl from Underworld.
