Jamaica at number 6 for registering a business, wow., very informative. My lady at the Companies of Jamaica is very relax in her interview. Big her up.
I literally was taking notes off of this video, like I was in school! Thank you for all of this valuable information...and to think I have a Masters in Business & yet I learned a few things from this video. I now feel more equipped and empowered to navigate starting a business there in my home country. May God bless you & the land of my birth! 🇯🇲
And to imagine it took a stranger to unearth this info so we can know! A masters in business admin and you learnt! She must be glad to escape the war there lol
I was on this as soon as it popped up on my phone I’m Jamaican my wife is Dominican and we definitely want to start 3 business in Jamaica so this is soooo helpful thank you Irie!!
Another well researched, and comprehensive video, Irina. If I had any misgivings about operating a business in Ja... Your video have thoroughly equipped me, with the necessary information. Thank you, and keep shining your light. UK.
I was prepared for a talking head video, then I was met with a professional interview with a company’s office representative ... fam. I wasn’t ready! I wasn’t at all!!! 😍😍😍😍
I only wish they would revamp custom...and make it easier for individuals who want to bring items into the country to give to charity etc..or just to donate to school etc..
Charity organizations don't pay these customs fees. Individuals who wish to bring items to donate should do so via Jamaican charity organizations. (At least this is what I think is the case, I will be checking this information when doing video on charity)
@@JAMAICAWITHIRIE would greatly appreciate that. I used to do a back to school give away...as an independent individual..I would get a voucher from the ministry of education via the school I was working with...and when I get to the warf I still ended up playing so much from the items...and this when on for a few years until I regrettably had to stop..I like your contents please keep it up.
Yes I sent a powered wheelchair to a young man in need and the costs at customs was unbelievable, we cleared it however it turns out that I bought a non electric wheelchair in Kingston for him that he could better manage.
@@JAMAICAWITHIRIEyou are correct. Persons who are donating to charity, needs to be a charity organization and sign with the department of cooperative and friendly society. Once the organization is approved, a letter should be sent to customs. Once approval is granted by customs, the applicable duties are waived.
Some people do not sign up online because they simply don't know that they have an online option, are not technology savvy, or do not trust the one process.
Thank you so much Irina, for continuously providing all of us with meaningful information that are grounded in our desire to learn more about our amazingly beautiful island of Jamaica. What you research and share creates immense value. Because it reveals a lot about the island on a lot of different topics/issues. Plus it also gives us the inspiration to keep learning, and growing. Up top, bella Irina!👍😘
A lot of people are still on the old system and reluctant to try. Jamaica needs to provide free computer access to the rural areas. Also, Adult 101 free computer classes and Jamaicans may not like the option of paying taxes. Maybe so many food stations on the street selling cook food. No tax
But we don't get a tax return at the end of the financial year so that's another factor so if it's in place where all citizens get a tax return don't u think more ppl will engage
This is such a very helpful video if someone wants to Start a Company / Business in Jamaica; and it's great to see that Jamaica makes it easy to REGISTER. But as noted, "starting" a Business doesn't mean just "anybody" can start "making money" from it...at least, not per the LEGAL Process. So many people are under the impression that they can just go down to Jamaica and start a Business and GET PAID from it, without having a Work Permit...unless they ARE Jamaicans. I'm glad this video makes that clear. I Love ALL your videos; but I especially love the ones where you let the Jamaican "Experts Tell the Story", such as this one. Very Awesome
Iris those are some good questions you ask. And . Your host Mrs Judith Ramlogan is very knowledgeable. I am sure a lot of people who lives in JA and outside of JA can draw from this wealth of information to register their business name and there business. Another great video iris.👏👏👏👏
@@JAMAICAWITHIRIE thanks I must have miss hearing her name when I got distracted. I was cooking while listening and watching your very informative video.

Great content and very informative. As a Jamaican born living and traveling abroad I had no idea 💡 how easy it currently is to register a business in Jamaica.
this is great Irina. Many people are not aware of the information. You can easily find information about registering a business in the US. However for Jamaica there is information but old info. Companies office should go on a massive marketing campaign.
I absolutely love your videos they are as informative as a true reporter but as fair and detailed. written with such care. keep it up! I really need to start the process of my documents myself.
I have to admit you always do good videos with information like no other thanks you very much for letting the world knows that jamaica is not what most things it is .
Irene, you're bursting a lot of the dishonest lawyer's bubble they are charging a lot of people huge amounts of money to register companies. This will open the eyes of many especially those overseas.
This video was a godsend for me. I've been researching this very topic as I have a business I'm considering registration for and this video cleared up a lot of things for me. Thanks so much Irina and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.
Irina, I will definitely share this outstanding video with others, you are such an irreplaceable Jewel I must admit, yes Irina you are amazing, you have provided immense and reliable sources of information.👌🏽💌
Another great video. As to being an offshore owner or shareholder. The owner could live in Jamaica without a work permit and still collect an income through dividends. Not to sure how the taxes would handled on dividends. I think as a Canadian there are tax treaties.
Your content is informative and you do a great job of providing accurate factual information. I am always concerned about the encouraging internationals to set up businesses in Jamaica (for it's benefits) that do not employ local Jamaicans or do not pay Jamaicans adequate salaries that align to their skills. Too often, Jamaican employees are taken advantage of by their employers (even local ones). I have observed what is known as "gentrification" in other Caribbean countries where locals are not able to acquire "affordable" real estate. I only say this for awareness by audiences and interested entrepreneurs to be sensitive to the country and to conduct business any business in Jamaica respectfully and responsibly. Please know that my comments are not negative toward you or your video. It's nice to see that the great many misperceptions of Jamaica and Jamaicans by internationals are being addressed, corrected, and clarified on your channel. Thank you for standing up for the beautiful country of Jamaica.
