As you know I just replaced the bigger head seal. Today I noticed this seal leaking also. I was very relieved to find another video of you covering this. In hindsight I should have done this 30mm seal at the same time. Thank you again for these videos, they are of great help.
Thanks for the video and info about the special socket. I have to adjust my order to include that special socket. Looks like I should be able to change it myself as well!
Did you have to time the pump by removing the 12mm like you did on the pump head video before removing the plug ? I’ve found your videos extremely helpful while working on my own Alh
does a 26mm injection pump socket fit? or only 24mm every socket set i find is 26mm only diesel geek has the 24mm that you have to rent? makes no sense
Hello! A friend of mine removed the pump from the engine to change this exact seal. Changed the seal, put the pump back on the engine but messed up when plugging up the electrical connections. He switched the small plug from the injection pump with the one from the crankshaft sensor, they both look the same and fit. Now the engine won't start and won't run unless it's on strarting fluid. Did he fry the electronic part of the injection pump by plugging those two connectors the wrong way?
Ooo no. Sorry to hear about your friend's luck. Is he sure that he bled all of the air out of the system? I would tell him to crack each line at the injectors and crank until fuel comes out of each line. It would be a good idea for you to help him do that. Have rags ready and be careful.
@@Corysdiyauto Yes, we have bled it countless times, we even fed it straight from a bottle, bypassing the fuel filter. Started the engine on starting fluid, ran it half a minute like that, nothing. The pump was taken off the car. Thank you for your answear.
The head plug seal was leaking in my case. I replaced the injection pump head seal first though because it looked like the fuel was leaking from that area.
@@SanketPatil-ri2hc - I changed it because I thought it was leaking from there. I'm glad that I did change it though, because the seal was really worn.
I called VW in Germany and got the torque spec from them. They said to tighten it down until it's "gudentait". Must be a metric unit but i did "Nazi" that one coming.

do you really need those plastic caps around the injectors, I dont have those. I think i can be carefull not to let dirt in or anything
Put a rag over them and be very careful!

You don't have to do anything to the pump. All you have to do is remove the plug and replace the seal. It's actually pretty simple.
@@Corysdiyauto awesome thank you for your time and posting the video series
You're welcome! Thank you for the comment.
Hello sir only big bolt open and seal change? For leaking same type
Yes, there's just one seal around this plug. It's a pretty simple replacement.

It's a 24mm socket. I have the info in the description. You can make your own by modifying a 15/16" socket.
hi, why do you have to put those red caps on the outputs?
To prevent any dirt from getting in.
@@Corysdiyauto Thanks. if I don't have caps, it might be good if I tape them down instead?
@@zalanocsko154 - Yes, I would definitely cover them up.
