Front Tire Leak, Wheel Removal and Fix Leak, Super LT 1554 Cub Cadet Tractor

- Learn how to remove the front wheel, troubleshoot the leak, and replace the wheel. My Cub Cadet LT Lawn Tractor has a small leak in the right front tire. I put Slime in my tires about 10 years ago and I can see when the bead is broken that the Slime is not effective anymore.

Use side cutters to remove cotter pin. Put cutting edge on inside of pin, don't squeeze and turn the cutters 90 degrees. The pin will come right out
Robert, Good tip! I normally just use Needle Nose Pliers. I flatten out the Cotter Pin, then (sometimes) put the tip of the Pliers in the Eye of the Cotter Pin. I see your point, my Needle Nose is often to big, and your Dikes would work better. - Stiles
Just bought my brand new club cadet xt1 next day front tire flat staple from the delivery pallet most likely time to put tubes in all the way around.
Arnold, oh man, you are probably right. I, however, prefer to run without tubes, it makes me a frustrated, grumpy . . . old (before my time) man! LOL! I appreciate the comment. - Stiles
Similar issue on my mower. Wasn't sure how to get the "hub cap" off. Was afraid I'd damage it and have to wait for parts to finish mowing. Thanks for the video!
Yep! It just snaps on and just pry off. The cap fits loosely and never seems right when I put it back on, but as long as it stays on. It is ok. You are welcome and thanks for the comment. - Stiles
I used a paint can remover that has that little hook on the end. I saw in another video. That works great!
if you have the "Rubber" hub caps, grab a pair of gloves and a heat gun put it on low and heat them up good. They will become flexible enough to remove without ruining them.

I would like to see somebody who actually changing the tire off the rim and put on another one
Finder, I just replaced the 2 Front Tires on the Cub Cadet, using just 2 Automotive Style Pry Bars. I should have video taped it for you. I may do the Larger Back Tires in the future, I plan to record and publish it, however, I believe it will be much easier than the Front Tires. - Stiles
i had no idea they had hubcaps, i’m fixing up my dads slt1554 and it needs two new fronts, a battery, a wheel cap, and apparently hub caps
Gamer, Yep those little Black Plastic Caps are called "Hub Caps" by Cub Cadet.

@@StilesAutomotive yup! i used it as a reference yesterday to find the front tire size as the tire lettering was unreadable due to tire rot and being completely flat
You turned the wheel jus when you took cap off?
Dave, Yep, I should have pried against the top of the Tire, not the front of the Tire. Use a large Flat Screwdriver or Pry Bar to pry the cap off. - Stiles

Put a tube in all 4 don't use the damn slime most garages won't change tire with out change the rim and tire they don't want to deal with tire slime.
Why not leave the tire touch the ground before you try to remove the cotter pin? Just a thought! 🙀🙀🙀
Wayne, You could remove the Cotter Pin prior to jacking up the Wheel, however, I think it is easier in the air when there is no side-load on the Cotter Pin. It's not like Lug Nuts that you need the Tire on the ground to loosen them. - Stiles
