I’ve had excellent results breaking the bead with a Record woodworking vise. It opens up about 18 inches and you can line the tire up in the vise to avoid the rim and slowly and carefully tighten the tire in the vise and break the bead.
Just reverse the tire in the vise and break the other side of the tire bead. A sledge might work but one errant swing and you are fixing your rim as well.
I used a long 3/8 inch extension as an axle on my 11x4x5 Scag front tire and clamped it into the Record vise - works great.
My Record vise has sacrificial hardwood jaw inserts that really grab the 3/8 extension with zero damage to the extension.

One thing I think you forgot. When you go to air it up, sometimes the bead won't settle into the rim and the air just escapes. To remedy this problem, put a belt around the tire at the center of the tread forcing the bead into the rim, then air it up.

From my point of view the naming of the rim correlates to if I would say shop on Amazon and wanted to upgrade rims on my truck, that would be the common description used for the metal part, similar with tires, just the rubber part and lastly buying wheels for a trailer or golf cart, wheels would get me new tires with rims.

    Nice demo. Thanks!
    Side note pet peace:
A tire plus a rim equals a wheel. The rim is the center metal part. The tire is the rubber part. The wheel is the combination of the two.

Incorrect - the wheel is the entire metal assembly, not including the tire.
The rim is just the outside edge of the wheel.
People often mistakenly call their wheel a "rim". The rim is just a part of the wheel assembly.
The tire is never to be referred to as a wheel or rim.

Good video. I would inflate the tire to seat the beads before inserting the valve stem core. It will air up much quicker and help seat the bead then put in the valve stem core and inflate the tire to recommended pressure.

Impressively easy on TH-cam 😅 I will try that when I receive my new tires.

Back in the late 70's I worked in a body shop/ used car lot, and they had a manual tire remover that I used on occasion that worked on the same principal. I don't remember exactly how it kept the tire stationary. It was quite a chore getting 14 and 15 inch tires off the rims.

I've been doing this for a while. You put up a nice, easy to follow video! Now show us how to seal the bead on both sides for inflation!!!

Tighten a wratchet strap or twist a chain around the center of the tire then add air

😊just to clarify . The thing that keeps air in tire is valve core . The valve core goes in the valve stem ..
