- Presenting the new reference for single-cylinder performance. Meet the new Superquadro Mono, a brand-new specimen that can’t wait to unleash its full potential. The most powerful single cylinder on two wheels.
Strictly derived from the 1285 cm3 Superquadro of the Panigale 1299, this technically sophisticated engine is enriched by refined components such as aluminum cylinder-liner, inlet valves in Titanium and engine covers in Magnesium and has a maximum power of 77.5 hp which becomes 85 with racing exhaust @10,250 rpm, a bold new industry leader, and a whole lot of fun in the waiting.

the fact that both ducati and triumph are going balls to the walls with single engines is epic, cant wait to see what's to come
I hope for some supermono race bikes available at last! Then we will see who's is better, the Husqy 701 Vitpilen or the others :)

These guys are bringing racing techology to the street, mad respect for them
that's already every liter bike on the market.
they're bringing superbike tech to the dirt track 😂
I mean as much as I love singles they're not originally the most suitable for racing.
but if you put enough effort into balancing it and you are not too concerned with performance/reliability/cost it's possible to make some high revving singles like KTM, Ducati, or even the 450cc 4 stroke dirt bikes. it doesn't bring much advantage over a twin unless you're obsessed with weight though
@@geemy9675 Weight and cost.
I’m very excited to see the new range, and I love this type of video (reminiscent of all those “see-through” drawings of 911’s I used to stare at seemingly forever). Just as I like to pre-visualize all the corners on a track, I imagine engine designers must dream the equivalent of theses videos. I’m jealous! Beautiful video, and congratulations to the people who put it together.
My friend's dad used to do those types of drawings. Had one of a 427 Cobra I used to stare at in awe
Sounds very cool.
I love those drawings. They were the perfect mix of engineer and art. Really amazing
This is going to be epic ! Please make it like the last Mono, lean and lite - modern machines are too heavy and powerful for full use on the road.
Agreed, I've got an '07 Ducati GT1000 with about 100 hp, and I'm always having to check myself from going to fast, I can't imagine how you can possibly need, or use, 200 hp on the streets, just an exercise in frustration, I'd have thought.
If it's half way as beautiful as the original they'll sell every one
Anyone who understands single cylinders knows that this is a work of art. fabulous!!!
Given the 80 hp rating this thing has (same as the 90's 900SS which wasn't underpowered) this engine would be great in a lightweight nimble sport bike for the road.
Road legal Supermono 2 anyone? ~300 lbs, 80 hp, nimble handling. Something like that might not compete against a liter bike on a straight but on a twisty track or twisty road it could show a clean pair of heels to a lot of "faster" bikes.
i can already imagine myself going to the canyons on one
the supermoto already has spy shots btw. it's going to take a huge chunk out of the KTM's market!
I believe this is the new dirt bike motor
@@kj385Too large for MX, this is for a big bore supermoto.
I'd say another supermono road racing bike too like the previous bikes.
A new Supermono would be epic! One of the best looking bikes ever.
The new motocross engine....
@@davidvanbrunt4233
It's 659cc, motocrossers don't get bigger than 450cc in professional motocross.

Simply incredible! Finally, another Ducati single-cylinder. The most powerful ever! I'm already very curious about the whole bike.
Very cool! Awesome seeing Ducati expand into different segments like ADV, big single cylinder bikes and soon MX bikes! 🎉
Those graphic artists rocked it out of the park. What a cool video!
Can’t imagine how long it took to dream up that animation sequence, let alone build it. Top work. By the way the engine looks great as well.
You were a part of it weren't you?😂
@@punitshirodkar No, not involved at all. That sort of creativity is well above my talent scale.

Hopefully this engine can be used in an adventure bike, it would be awesome.
Wonderful. I love single cylinder motorcycles. I always wanted a supermono but could never afford one. Interesting.

@@ΘάνατοςΧορτοφάγος 😮 Woah, lightweight hyper with 70-80 hp??? Even better!
I doubt it, sports bikes are dying in the market, I expect to see an adventure bike and/or a naked, like the KTM's Duke series.
The Supermono was a beautiful bike, but super uncomfortable with it's GP bike seating position, people are moving away from that.

Italian MX Ducati participation confirmed for next year. So, its very safe to assume that a proper dirtbike will come to the showroom.
This is most likely a motocross engine and is probably not going to be homologated for street use. But you never know, maybe they will bring a detuned version for the street.
This engine is as sexy as hell but I’d probably wouldn’t hold my breath for a Ducati supermono powered bike suitable for long distance trail riding trips probably undertaken at the same time of year that many dealerships are on the beach. 😉
This would be really interesting in a lightweight sportsbike.
You showed us all the parts, now we can all go make our own
We want this engine on a lightweight supermoto bike !!
Can’t wait for a 250. ❤ definitely need a hare scramble version as well for desert and trail
Che SPETTACOLO!! Non vedo l'ora di provarlo sulla HyperMono ?🤔😜!! Forza DUCATI!❤
Ducati, think about also putting this engine in a lightweight Adventure motorcycle that can compete with the Ténéré 700, Transalp etc.
Enough with parallel or V-twins, there's already a lot of that in the market.
Bring back the pure ADV motorcycles with a fire breading torque monster 1 cylinder engine.
Go Ducati✌
My KTM 690 DUKE made 81rwhp. in 2014 with an Arrow exhaust BAZZAZ fuel commander and power parts cam. It crossed the scales at 133kg with a lithium battery, Wilbur's shock, Andreani fork cartridge kit, BERINGER brakes, Bark busters Power parts crash bars and puncture repair kit and tool kit jammed under the pillion seat.
They will need to do something special to impress me.
There is a reason KTM dumped the parts bin singles onto the Husky brand and developed a twin cylinder.
the most beautiful engine ....
Please make a track ready Supermono bike!
Superquadro Mono Monster ? That'd be a fun bike to ride.
for their new moto X bike. 77.5hp to 85hp with racing exhaust. be a lot of fun , 10,250rpm redline , 658cm3 15000km service and 30000km value adjustment

I ’d like to see it in a new supermono or lightweight scrambler or why not a monster. The engine is so exciting.
Desmo valve 😃 means high revving single 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
they don't look like desmo valves, there is a torsion spring to close them.
@@etruscanadv3296 nah, the springs are just there that the rockers properly follow the cam. There are two rockers per valve and at 0:43 you can clearly see one rocker pushing down on the valve (the one mounted towards the outside of the head) and one rocker pulling the valve up (the one mounted towards the middle of the head between the valves).
@@etruscanadv3296 “they don’t look desmo valve”??🤷🏻♂️ Bro It’s already in the video desmo rocker.. and also the name “SuperQuadro” Mono
@@goturnlex you are right. I thought they used traditional valves like in the multistrada.
This kind of amimation was super cool, many years ago.
Been a while since anyone took the fight to Stefan Pierer so chapeau, fellas. The strudel has definitely hit the fan! 😂
Motore e video incredibili!!!
Speriamo vada ...incredibilmente forte 💪
Stick this in a sub 400 lb ADV bike and I'm sold.
I can imagine so many bikes this engine would be amazing in - they all need to be simple an light though (in my opinion). Race bike, dual sport, supermoto...
Triumph and now Ducati. Exciting times!
Any chance we can finally get a high-performance single that lasts more than 20,000 miles between rebuilds?
You can expect an engine last more than 20k.miles only With Honda Bikes
The press release claims: "Valve checks and adjustments, if needed, are required only every 30,000 km, making it a practical and user-friendly choice for enthusiasts. The oil change interval is also quite generous at 15,000 km."
Looks like it might actually be able to make it past 20k miles if they are to be believed.
@@CuddlyCthulhu I really hope so. I've been wanting a supermoto for years, only thing keeping me was the fact that I do about 20,000 kms a year and I don't trust the many variations of KTMs 690 engine to last me more than a few seasons.
@@zaherjess2497 not true. I have 40k on a Yamaha myself and have seen plenty of 50k+ bikes from all japanese manufacturers, Triumph and even Ducati. The only real issues are with the smaller KTMs, Aprilia, MV Augusta and all the Chinese crap that's been flooding the market. Or are you talking about singles, specifically?
Not true. I have a KTM 690 Duke that has lived in the top 75% of its rev range for more than that.@@zaherjess2497 But I will say, I have managed to find the life's end of nearly every current brand of dirt and sports bike except..., SUZUKI. I haven't been able to kill one yet.

Looking forward to see this technology in the 250cc motorsports classes.
I'm guessing this is for the new motocross lineup.
I need this on my Grom 😀

Can't deny being disappointed, that it uses conventional counterbalancer shafts, instead of the SuperMono's drone con rod, similar to the BMW F800 twin.
Finally a panigale 400 🎉
that's what I said too
It’s just a 450cc motocross bike
Will there be any new panigale models with this engine ?
I would love to see a 80hp ADV bike under 300 pounds!
i hope they bring out a 650 Ducati supermotard to compete with ktm/husky! If they do im selling my ktm in a heartbeat
That would be awesome!
Honda should have kept their 650's in production..
I think you have to put it for sale. In the teaser video you can see an motard is coming in the next release 2nd November.
@@HusqMtt they have released it, it is a 650
@@HusqMtt It's really clear that you didn't read what Ducati mention about this engine. This is not the 450 engine. It's half of the 1299 Panigale engine. That is what they wrote in the release of this engine. I hope that the 450 will have the same desmo head and engine design.
I can’t wait to hear this lil hellspawn
Wow... I've never imagined a mono from Ducati...!!

This is a really good video if i wanna know how to rebuild these things
We want a naked and cross enduro or dual sport bike with it. Viva ducati !
The depth of the cylinder case developing compactness. If it weren't for the obligatory valve length, that engine could be really small. That intake tho
That was a cool video ! Great work
Baby Panigale with this in it… you won’t.
Welcome to india🇮🇳
Quanto ci starebbe una scrambler sia icon che urban motard con questo motore, sarebbe uno spettacolo di moto
We are waiting this since 1978, the 350 Rollah prototype, The supermono racing only is an other thing.
Nice, I would like one for my Grom lol
Competition for Pierer Mobility. I like it❤🎉
it’s going to have it own sound that for shore.
Still remains to be seen the power output and how it makes power. Last one made it thru high revs, very over square, low torque. The KTM has good torque but power peters out at around 8200 rpm. I think Ducati will first put this in a super moto? KTM does not seem interested in up dating the 690, last major update was 2016. Real shame because the 690 could put out another 10 to 15 HP with a bump in compression, larger valves, injectors, new cam etc. while keeping the same bore and stroke.
Amazing Engine!
wow single piston!! cant wait
Hell yeah! Ducati have needed a smaller something in the line up for a long time. This will sell big I bet
based on the HP numbers I don't think it's a "small" single cylinder, bro. It might be in a 700~900cc range
@@BunToomo659 cc, how the hell can you go in the 700 to 900cc range with one cylinder??
bet that'd make a sweet go kart
Ducati made the most gorgeous single in history, the Supermono
Gorgeous, but super uncomfortable with it's racer crouch riding position, that markets dying, so I doubt they'll go down that route again, probably use it for an Adventure bike, a Super Motard and/or a naked.
Ducati always make good power, I'm sure for the engine size they will be power leaders and of course excellent quality. The only thing that scares me is the price. Well done Ducati.
This motor belongs in a Super Sport, a Dual Sport / Adventure bike ... Enough horsepower, less weight, low maintenance & better fuel economy. If a computer needs to control the horsepower, I don't need it. Brilliant CAD animation.
Almost as powerful as the original 550 Supermono from 30 years ago

I couldn't make out if it has the dummy conrod balancing of the original (I'm watching it on my cheep phone). It would be cool if it had the 6 valve Morbideli head.
Nope. It does NOT use the dummy conrod bro. It uses two counter-balancing shafts, one either side of the crank. Shame really.
