Thanks Sjoerd for showing us this mod. I had seen it somewhere else recently, but you have been far easier to follow, so I now feel I could give it a try. I am admittedly more of an Airbus man, but have used the Zibo 737 and the FF B757. Both of these seem to set a ToD very late and then drop out of the sky, so I have tended to start the descent at least 20 miles earlier than they calculate. Also below 10,000 feet I find it easier to fly them with vertical speed mode rather than following the VNAV. I dare say a lot of this is due to my inexperience with Boeings though. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos!
Thanks for your reaction! Zibo has been updated a lot recently and is now of outstanding quality. FF757 needs a lot of work in XP12… In real life crews will use vertical speed or Level Change combined with heading select more often, because ATC will usually interfere with the planned route. But when you can use VNAV it should behave differently then it’s currently doing in the Sparky mod. It’s still well worth a try though!
Thanks to this video, I decided to give this one a try. I like it! It’s nice to have a 744 in X-Plane. Had a bit of an issue with the throttles on final approach, so I hope they address that. Otherwise a fun bird. Not study-level, but fun nonetheless, and free!

I will try it again but the one flight I made with this aircraft saw all the engines spool down to idle as soon as I switched off the autothrottle at 500'. Nothing I tried would retrieve power. Any thoughts anyone - would be appreciated.
Hello, have you find a way to use the HOPPIE ACARS with the plane ? The manual says it needs a provider but I'm not sure what it means. I've been using HOPPIE with other planes without problems before. Seems complicated to configure it with this aircraft :p
in the US flight levels begin at 18,000 so it being a Boeing maybe why it shows 16000. when do flight levels start in europe? also i cant get the top of descent to work properly in this plane, the vnav tries to kill me every time
Flight levels start above the transition altitude. The transition altitude varies per airport in Europe. It’s always mentioned on the charts, so you always have to read them carefully.
You’ll have to insert the performance data by filling the PERF INIT page. See 18:37 in the video. If you don’t fill that page and Execute it VNAV will not work.
Yes it is. I found just clicking on the Route brought the Simbrief plan into the FMC. Failing that, type in the route e.g. YMMLYSSY01 and it will load.
Click on the Route button and if you have saved a Simbrief flight plan to XPlane 12 FMS folder it will appear on the FMC. Never failed for me but if for any reason your plan doesn't show just type in the saved plan name (e.g. YMMLYSSY01) and click it in.
Hello, I have a question, because im seeing lots of people saying that p3d is better, and seeing other people saying that xplane is better, so (in your opinion) do you think that xplane 12 is better than p3d? (In terms of aircraft realism)
@@Test.Unknown I haven’t used P3d since version 1. However, the userbase for P3Dv5 is said to be quite small. I think X-Plane has excellent flight dynamics, but I can’t judge P3D.
Hi Sjoerd, thx so much for this video, really appreciated🙏🙏.. I`ve leant a lot of new things with this model, only thing I'm stil struggling with is setting the ILS freq and course in the FMC for the airport I want to land at. I know how to enter the info in the NAV RAD but as soon as I enter a freq it loads a totally different airport automatically, can`t seem to load the freq/course manually. And yes you are so right; the 747 is still for me as well, the most beautiful commercial aircraft out there. The true Queen of the Sky....🤩
Thanks for the kind words! At 55:48 in this video I enter the ILS by inserting the identifier in stead of the frequency/course. Maybe you can try that aswell and see if it works better.
@@0321Sjoerd The identifier worked perfectly thank you so much Sjoerd.. Just did a flight from FAOR to FACT.. I also tried different airport ILS settings in the FMC and by entering just the identifier it programs the correct Freq/Course...👍👍🙏🙏

I think the one thing this plane needs is a simbrief upload. It would make that whole plane way easier and save a crap Ton of time too
