Those were the days. I remember them fondly. I was averaging 25 concerts a year. I'm 63 now and not in great health. What I wouldn't give to be back there again.

I'm 58 y/o and my first concert was Rush in the summer of 79 and after that, I was hooked on Rock N Roll. I remember seeing these guys with Blackfoot. Early on, my friends and I started taking a bus from the suburbs of Detroit straight into the city to go to concerts. The only issue was that buses didn't run late enough to get back home, so one of our parents or older brother/sister would have to pick us up. My friend Jimmy got his driver's licence before any us and his dad was part owner of a a Ford dealership, so he had a car before his 16th birthday. We went to every concert we could. I played travel A hockey, so I missed a few concerts during hockey season. It amazes me to this day that our parents were cool with all the concerts we went to, although it was a different time back then. As long as we made it home after the concert, which we always did, they didn't care too much. Good times man!
I'm right there with you brother. I grew up in L.A. and it wasn't unusual to see Queen, Aerosmith and The Police in the same month. Bands just came through all year, sometimes playing 3 nights at the Forum or at Angels' stadium on a bill that would be mind blowing today. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Back in July 2015 I was at Manny's house in Texas. He was showing me his guitar collection when he pulled out this nice maroon colored Robin brand guitar that he bought while playing there in Houston in1981. I ended up with the Robin along with an original "Nazareth" professional touring guitar case marked Robin which he kept the guitar in. He said at the time he bought the guitar that Robin was a new company at the time and he went to check out the company before the concert. Some people have said that Robin did not sell guitars till late 80s - early 90s. Manny said he bought it 1981 when this concert took place in this video was made. This was the It's Naz (SNAZ) album. I called the company anyway, which by the way they no longer make guitars anymore, and gave them the serial number. They verified that they did sell the guitar to Manny in 1981. What a nice guitar and what a great friend Manny was. RIP Manny, Dan and Darrell

we had a good sound system in that car', a pair of 100 watt speakers with an 8-track player and a 100 watt Kraco equalizer-amplifier, it rocked the heck out of our 8-track tapes of Black Sabbath, Nazareth, BTO and ZZTop'''.

Comes with the “Trapeze” gimmick. Far out! Groups on same bill. Around same time: Frank Fucking Marino Black Oak Ted Aerosmith BÖC .38 Special And a good time ‘‘twas had by all”.
First time seeing Nazareth was June 1977 - they were in the middle of a 3-band bill - Ted Nugent as headliner - and a new band opening the show called; "Foreigner" - easily the best 3- band lineup I've ever seen in one night ..

Saw them in the 80's arena rock days and then in a club up the creek in the late 90's and that was awesome. A sound company I was working for at the time had the gig and I wasn't working so I just went and had 90's concert fun because it was the 90's when they played up the creek. Blue Oyster Cult played that club also and /i saw Exile in that club before they turned country right after I want to kiss you all over was a hit. in the 70's.

I was good friends with Manny Charlton.
John Tilden Locke - September 25-1943 - August - 4-2006
That’s an awesome story and you must have been really close to end up with that guitar! What part of TX did Manny live on? I had no idea that he lived in the Lone Star Stare
@@Jeffreeebowski - Manny lived in the Fort Worth area (for privacy reasons I will not reveal exact location as his widow still lives there) . He moved there in 1992.
Also, when I got the guitar, I was fortunate enough to be given one silver and one platinum RIAA records. I proudly display those.
@@seerstone8982 The great John Locke of Spirit fame!
we had a good sound system in that car', a pair of 100 watt speakers with an 8-track player and a 100 watt Kraco equalizer-amplifier, it rocked the heck out of our 8-track tapes of Black Sabbath, Nazareth, BTO and ZZTop'''.
Trop tard ! Mes oreilles sont déjà niquées ! 😅😅😂😂🤣
I saw this tour in San Antonio the day after this show. Ahhh the good old days!!
Went to school with a girl who babysat for the Drummers kids. Was living in Germany at the time, 1978, they were playing in Dusseldorf. She got us tickets and backstage passes. The lead singer, Dan MaCafferty drank a bottle of whiskey on stage during the gig. Me and me mates get back stage and he shouts 'are you the fukkin groupies'.....
😅😅😂😂😂
😅😅😅😅😅
Rest in Peace Dan ( 8th November 2022)You where a truly gifted soul.
Thank You so much , sir, for the video. In 1981 I was teenager in the USSR and went crazy for the band.Ramazanaz, Play the Game,Telegramm,Hair of the Dog,Expect No mercey,No Mean City. Yepp ,there was DP and LZ.But Nazareth was the music for teenage soul.
I saw Nazareth in Saginaw, Michigan in 1979 with Thin Lizzy. My first concert. What a party!
I loved and still love listening to Nazareth….they kicked ass…
In this year, 1981, they had a really good single, 'Crazy', which was featured on the Heavy Metal Soundtack
Saw this tour in CLE. Awesome show awesome band!!
The best advise ever given...."Hair of the Dog!"
Ha ha👍👌
I saw this tour '81 in El Paso TX county colleseum. Trapeze opened for Nazareth. 2nd concert I attended.
I was there, my very first concert ever, a wall of Marshall amps blew me away.
Comes with the “Trapeze” gimmick. Far out!
Groups on same bill. Around same time:
Frank Fucking Marino
Black Oak
Ted
Aerosmith
BÖC
.38 Special
And a good time ‘‘twas had by all”.
no Krokus?
The voice
Iconic footage!!
First time seeing Nazareth was June 1977 - they were in the middle of a 3-band bill - Ted Nugent as headliner - and a new band opening the show called; "Foreigner" - easily the best 3- band lineup I've ever seen in one night ..
I seen them at the Misty Moon in HALIFAX years ago. A very loud band, was a great show
Dan had such an amazing voice.
🤔and', even though those years may have screwed up my health', I wouldn't trade them for anything', being poor and driving a 1976 Ford Torino through a Blizzard for more beer was some of the greatest experiences anyone could have ever experienced'''.
yep the shit that was done back in the day lol
Before there was AC/DC there was NAZARETH
Bless Bon and the boys but I'll take Naz every single fucking second over Acdc
ACDC and Nazereth...Thanks again Scotland
Better than Brian Johnson. But not Bon Scott.
Axel rose before Axel rose.. but better! I said it!!
Our church choir used to sing a lot of Nazareth songs, really miss those days, nothing like what they sing in church now days.
zakk wylde sang a church song. from the 60!
They don't edify Jesus . They use a Muse .
@@georgehays4908 That's Greek mythology.
Bringing the world into church is why the church today isn't doing it's job, we may have to live in this world but we need not be of this world
Great band.
th-cam.com/video/Ef2SLZdhNrY/w-d-xo.html "Hair of the Dog"!
Was für eine geile Band ever
34:55 a song everybody can relate to, LOVE HURTS!
Nazareth and Krokus whatta show!!!
Speaking of bands that should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame……….
Wow .. Nazareth is amaizing .
One of the few great rock bands that aged well. Dan it feel sounded better and better. R.I.P.
Big Bad John Tilden Locke (1943-2006)🤘🕊️🤘
Nazareth is a legend! So sad they are not induct to Rock and Roll Hall of fame
I saw them in either 1980 or 81 and were amazing
16/04/23. QUE SHOW LINDO, SUPER MARAVILHOSO! ****S2****
WOW!
Not a bad way to Rock out on a Friday!! 🤘
The best I was there 👌
Were you at the Houston show?
@@EnriqueGonzalez-ki3qz yes when that was recorded 👌👌👌👌😎at the Colosseum downtown
@@redbone7040 Awesome!!!
@@EnriqueGonzalez-ki3qz hearing that recording is like going back to that concert we were like 20 rows in front of stage so we had great views
@@redbone7040 I wish I had been there too, for me that line up and the sound they had live was the best
I ran the highways from east coast to mid states working on oil rigs . I was 17 and throwing chain on a cocain crew we were fast at tripping in and out. Man it was so easy to get a job and travel. The music was the best ever, never to be repeated.
I WAS THERE.
Eagles, Nazareth, Uriah heep, deep purple, Smokie, my all time favourites… Can’t beat the 70’s and 80’s🤮
Absolutely. Zeppelin, Stones,Who❤
no -- Stones, but AC/DC -- yes!@@AdrianaLaCerva126
Saw them in the 80's arena rock days and then in a club up the creek in the late 90's and that was awesome. A sound company I was working for at the time had the gig and I wasn't working so I just went and had 90's concert fun because it was the 90's when they played up the creek. Blue Oyster Cult played that club also and /i saw Exile in that club before they turned country right after I want to kiss you all over was a hit. in the 70's.
Close enough for rock and roll
I saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in the 70s Great concert
Oh yes the maple leaf gardens + Nazareth + Streetcars after the concert lol 🚎rowdies having fun tipping over them buses..! 🍀🚒🚔
Those were definitely Nazareth's best times!
Nazareth + Billy Rankin - guitar, backing vocals
John Locke - keyboards
Bloody fab!!
My God what a fucking voice Dan had!!!!
21:03 hearing him like this, he sounds just like Omar Kent Dykes. Lead singer for Omar & The Howlers. Dude has some real Tex-Mex chops and that raw Texas drawl in his voice! Good stuff!
2 greatest parents that ever lived'
I saw them 1978 with Sammy Hagar & Mahogany Rush
Saw them on this tour at the rainbow music hall in Denver. They had all the band members who were ever in the group.
That must have been awesome, such a great venue. I was living in Denver when the Rainbow was first converted from a 3 screen theater, I had a chance to see the Police there when they first hit the airwaves, but missed out!
Voice of a LION
Saw them at Cobo in Detroit late 70’s
They just don't make bands like this anymore....
Thankfully extensive back catalogues to enjoy...again and again.
Saw them in '76 opening for Aerosmith. Great show with two of the best rock vocalists to ever grace the stage.
Heart's grown cold, what a song, what a band, what a time.
Malice in Wonderland is a great album!
Could you imagine Dan McCafferty being a football coach? Perfect! Screaming from the side line.
I think Nazareth was an inspiration for ACDC
ACDC Released their first Album in 1974 so its doubtfull .
This might not be a popular opinion, but one of my favorite albums is "Expect No Mercy."
