Hello from North Carolina. That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my 64 years of being here, with 57 of those years being a guitar player! Now every time I walk outside and all I see is how many guitars I see laying on the ground under my feet as I walk around!! You did a fantastic job making that guitar like you did. I would have never in a million years thought of doing that. I have thought about getting a bunch of those wooden pallets that a lot of places will give them to you just to get rid of them, and most of them are made from oak too which is about as dense and hard as walnut. Maybe one day I'll build another guitar but this time I'll be on my own. May God bless you and your loved ones with a very happy, joyful, and safe new year!!
Amazing build. I’m currently building a guitar out of my grandfathers barn wood. I’ve had a leaf I took from the property and wanted to incorporate it somehow. I may add it to it to headstock. If I don’t, I still enjoyed this build, and the knobs were extra special, I may have to get a branch and make some for myself. Thank you for sharing this.
Absolutely incredible beautiful guitar sounds great and looks great sounds like a really good jazz guitar you created a very nice piece of art my friend thank you for sharing that with us
What a great looking guitar and strangely relaxing to watch the build progress from a bag of leaves to the finished article. You made me subscribe, thanks :)
What an amazing craftsman (yes, craftsman) you are. My father was a prisoner in Flossenburg concentration camp where he worked in the Mezzerschmitt plant making parts for the ME109. That taught him humility i never saw in anyother than my mother who was an amazing knitter to the point that she owned a yarn shop. My Pacame to the United States in 1950. My Parents worked every day in their lives. My Dad never "partied", he was alworking or fixing something. My mom was very ill her whole life. My Parents never complained. My Dad could make anything out of metal, he was a blue collar worker. He started two businesses with my mom. My parents bought the 60 acres I live on today! They were not rich by any means and never collected any handouts. They had jobs and always worked. At school, when other kids did reports about the people they admired the most, athletes or famous celebrities, I admiired my parents. They were my greatest heros. You remind me of them. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
That is an absolutely genius idea and amazing build!! I freaking love how it turned out. It sounds just as incredible as it looks. Hmmm, the title of your song... should be "Like Leaves in the Fall"
love this handmade guitar project build, what an awesome & inspired idea! one of a kind million dollar instrument that looks & sounds like a dream. really like the eureka point in the story when i realized you were gluing layers of leaves on both sides of the original slab. would love to see a leaf axe made with a jag/jazzmaster or a firebird offset style, completely beautiful & unique with so much character. of course leaves are wood, look at where they come from!
That knobs are awesome! Fits perfectly with the idea. I sometimes dream about making guitars and your work inspires me, great build, thanks for sharing!
This is probably the most satisfying and peaceful build I ever witnessed. Love the soundtrack (maybe call it "walking" since a walk in the woods inspired this build). Tone is beautiful.
Beautiful guitar! Such a clean sound as well. Would call the song Autumn Ballad and the guitar Leavitar (which sound like the Portuguese word levitar - levitate) as its sound made me levitate like a leave :)
Spectacular, and beautiful and ingenious and what a nice guitar. It sounds great and you play well on it. A lot of patience and love went into this . Congratulations on a very creative endeavor.
Nice video! I would've coated all the leaves in epoxy first, before stacking them. When cutting the shape of the body, you can see that there are voids in the laminate. Voids aren't beneficial for sustain, so should you do this again, that might be an idea. The leaves would also have more weight so stacking them is easier and faster and you could do everything in one go.
I think the way to do this and avoid... uh voids is to flatten them out just like he did and lay them out in a mold and pour like half an inch or less at a time. Just build it up in layers so the epoxy can sink into all the voids.
so beautiful! this is a good candidate to a stabilizing process , pinecone guita next? :P edit: Tittle suggestion : " A quiet Autumn: Falling leaves on my guitar "
First song you needed to play on it: Autumn Leaves. Awesome build. Inspiring. Especially compared to my botch jobs! Sounds great too. I have a build that has 1 humbucker only too, in the middle position. Great tone you're getting.
That's fantastic! I love your determination to turn your thoughts into reality. Bringing something truly unique into the world. As for being the first TH-camr to make leafs out of a guitar, that's an incredibly creative and innovative idea! You have my full support in pursuing this idea, and I believe your creativity will inspire many others. Keep nurturing your vision, and I'm confident you'll achieve something extraordinary.
The patience and skill something like this takes is unreal. Mind officially blown. In the time it took him to make that I would have just bought a guitar, had a long and storied musical career, and be telling stories to my grandkids about my glory days.

Man, while watching you build this I was going to say " I'd have done this or that this or that way', but no. The guitar is stunning. And has beautiful tone. Stellar job. I love it! Possibly cut the fretbord for leaf shape fret markers.
All that handwork! Ridiculous! The knobs are my favorite! The level of craftsmanship is outstanding. Nice jazzy bluesy tone. Would love to hear some distortion.
I don't play guitar and have no interest in building one, yet the Algorithm deemed to place this video in my eye line. I watched every moment, completely transfixed. I even backed up and re-watched a few parts. Bravo!
Talk about local, organic and handmade. xD DAMN what a BEAUT! You should make a whole series of leaf guitar with leafs from different trees or mixed, would be a banger man!
The idea is crazy, looks so unique and artistic. Your skills are more than impressive as well. But materialwise, leaves turned out to be quite capricious, as far as I can tell. First of all, the structure is really porous and does not look dense (may be wrong there but this is what it looks like from here). And the second issue I noticed - the upper layers of epoxy delaminated a bit here and there. This is probably due to the residual humidity left in the leaves despite the fact they looked so dry. I apologize if this is not the case, just trying to describe what I see. The final result looks so nice that I would say it's worth trying to improve the construction and build mk2, 3, ..,n to reach the best this material could possibly provide us with. Thanks so much for sharing your craftsmanship with us!
