Wow, another great Survivor and the plate says it all. Happiness is a big block! Thanks Lou for finding and sharing Brittany and her Torino GT with us!
What an awesome Ford Torino GT Fastback! Equipped with a 390 CI V8 with automatic transmission. The engine sounds healthy, and the overall condition of this 1968 survivor is excellent, with the exception of some minor paint scars. It is fun to see a car girl like Brittany, who has knowledge of the vehicle she owns and drives. The interior is in pristine condition. It has super low mileage for a car this old. Yeah! I noticed the shoulder belts up there too! My 69 Cobra has them and I wonder if that's something they put in because of the big block? I also noticed this one doesn't have the Go-Pac so.. ¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!
Hi Jaime, As I was reading your comment about being like a Mustang in the back, I was thinking, hmmm, kinda of the Big Brother to Mustang :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Great survivor car! I had a 1968 Torino GT Fastback with 390 automatic back in 1972. Bought it used for $700. Didn't keep it long but it was a blast to drive with that 390 and would absolutely smoke the right rear tire (no limited slip). The guy I bought it from decided he wanted it back so I sold it back to him for the same price I paid. Had a 1967 Fairlane GTA w/390 before that and a 65 Mustang 2+2 before that. My only Ford experiences over the years.

So when I was in Jr Hi and Hi School there was a group kids from my neighborhood. who were on a weekend TV dance show in Houston Tx. Every Saturday for years we car-pooled across town to the ABC station that put on the show. One of the moms had 1968 Torino GT with a 427/Auto In green on green, totally loaded. What a hotrod! Absolutely best sounding engine of all time. All the parents had a great mix of mid 1960-1970 pinnicale years of GM and Ford gear with one Charger thrown in. There was a 1rst year Toronado and a beautiful 66 Riviera GS, a 66 Grand prix a really cool GTO and a few sweet caddys, a couple of Electras 225s, and a couple of suicide Lincolns along the way. As the kids got older there were several camaros and mustangs. Houston was just car crazy and I keep seeing this great iron on your channel Lou, it really brings back memories.
As a 16-year-old in Vancouver, WA, our neighbor had this exact car, down to the red accents on the sides. I drooled all over it--even though I was a "Chevy guy" driving a '63 Biscayne, lol. I can still hear that throaty growl!
Trivia: Ford was giving away those NEED GAS blue fold ups at the 64-65 New York Worlds Fair. My brother and I both got some when we were kids when we visited the Ford Pavillion. Looks like they updated them each year after with later model cars.
🙋♂️THANKS LOU AND BRITANY….🤗 FOR SHARING THIS HAPPY PERSON WITH A COOL 😎 CAR …WE LOVE ❤️ FASTBACKS… two of my friends bought one new in 1968 when they graduated and I owned one in 75 like Britney’s black with the red interior 😎💚💚💚
One of my Favorite Torinos. My moms friend had a ‘68 Torino and we went to Boston in this car I was 10 years old so it was 1972. I fell in love with the car. I thought the styling and dash board just was so cool
Hi gene978, Happy to read "One of my Favorite Torinos" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Moms Friends car. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
A cousin of mine bought one of these new back in the day. He drove like a maniac laughing more the faster he went. It was red and beautiful. I miss those days. My brother bought a new 428 Cobrajet Fairlane around that time. They really loved those cars! You have a treasure there.
Y'all can bet this Torino GT stood out on the car lot in '68. I'm guessing it was on one of those ramp platforms sitting in the corner of the lot facing a four way intersection. I say this because I can remember seeing one once. It was a lighter blue GT Cobra Jet 428. Beautiful car, stood out so well it would stop traffic making sort of a traffic jam. I was only 7yrs old and the impression that car made on me lasted a lifetime. I was crushed the day we were headed to Piggly Wiggly and it was not there. For three days it would cross my mind, each time opening the memory of the day we actually stopped and checked out the new Fords. Dad was looking at wagons and four doors, me I was checking out that Torino. Now it was MIA, never to be seen I was sure. Then on a Saturday afternoon,we went to my uncles house and there in his driveway, next to my aunts '66 Charger sat that very Torino. Blue, black interior,428 with a 4 speed the car that put oil in my veins and made my heartbeat sound like a big block idle. I'll never forget that car and the times I was fortunate to ride in it. Thanks Uncle Richard... you're the cause of this gearhead who cannot shake this fever known as Hotrod...and I thank you for it...

Hi, Lou! And hello to you, too, Brittany! It's so exciting and so rare to meet a nice, happy girl like you with a delightful personality and a genuine passion for classic automobiles! Your father taught you well, indeed, I'll second that recommendation of raising car girls! This car has such a sleek profile with the fastback roof and the red C stripes. You sure look marvelous driving it, and I love that you love cars that aren't the usual exhibits like Mustangs! (In fact, that's why I love station wagons. I have a 1967 Pontiac Bonneville wagon.) You're so fortunate to have found an amazing well-preserved low-mileage survivor like this, and it definitely suits you to a T (as in Torino)! Lou, you've really outdone yourself here! I think this ranks as one of your best episodes yet! Brittany is a real sweetheart!❤Many thanks to both of you for taking us on a virtual fun Grand Touring ride!
Hi! I’m the Brittany with the car 😃 I truly appreciate it! That means the world to me that people enjoyed my car❤️ I love being surrounded by awesome people with the same love for old cars❤️
I think it was autumn 1969, I was almost 6 and in kindergarten, when my older brother, already an adult, bought his first brand new car. It was a yellow 69 Fairlane 500 fastback, a step below the Torino. It had the 302 small block, but it was still enough to get you in trouble. It was one of my favorite cars in our family. My parents drove it plenty of times, and my older sister sideswiped a telephone pole with it when by brother tried to teach her to drive. I'm digging this survivor 68, and I like survivors the best. I like restored cars too, but it's only original once.

Another terrific "Survivor"story. Brittany makes a good point...... drive something that "sets you apart" from the common crowd. That's what's cool about old / vintage cars. I had a 390 in my 68 Galaxy 500 2dr. That ole Ford would fly. It was baby blue with blue interior. You just have to watch out as the back 2 valves tend to burn around 120K miles
Thank you, thank you, thank you for those memories this episode brought. When I got out of the service I brought home a '69 Torino Gt, 428CJ, 4-speed, deep red with black interior, console delete. A few days later I met my future wife in her '68 that was identical to mine except for the year. Week later she called crying, had just rolled hers down a gully coming out of a corner. Said the steering locked up, which I didn't accept until discovered the steering box was froze. Past boyfriend had played with the worm gear and the box did what they do if you do that. Found her a '69 GT with a blown engine. Swapped everything out of hers into it, including the seats-she didn't like head rests. Year later after we were married I came home to be told mine was upside down in the ditch near her parents house. No story, just said when she left she showed off for her little brother and it got away from her. I replaced it with a 71 Charger Rt, 385hp 6-pack, that she never touched the key of. Together 4 years, married 3, and the month we divorced she put her GT on it's roof. 4 years she put 3 fine GTs on their roofs, well 1 wasn't her fault.
My dad bought my mom a 1968 Falcon Futura Sports Coupe in 1968 and it had an interior in this same color. I remember all those “extras” along with the owners manual in the glove compartment. I built a 1968 Torino GT model around that time as well. Same wheels as this one.
My first car was a 390 '68 Torino GT.l, black with a gold stripe. It also was an automatic but on the console. I absolutely loved that car! Used to drag race it once in a while on a Friday night on State St in Schenectady NY ( the same town "Cha Cha" Shirley Muldowney was from) My husband bought a '68 gold w/ a black stripe 390 Torino for himself, but his was a standard, of course! 🙂

I love it! When I was a teenager I got my hands on one with the 428. 6x6 blocks between the axle and frame allowed N-50 rear tires. That car handled like it was on rails. My friend has one with a 351W and 4spd (and normal tires), he's a body man and it's nice. Offered it to me for $3500 20 years ago, I should've jumped on it.

Always loved these cars! They're good looking and rather racy with the fastback. I looked at a '69 like it when I was a kid, but it was the inverse of this car - red with black stripes and a black interior. It had a 302 and that darned column shifter with bucket seats too... If it's on the column, just give me the bench seat.
Lou, I remember going to the Ford dealer in New Jersey ( Mayfair Ford no longer there ) with my Parents in 1969 and my Father had plans to order a new 69 Torino GT just like this but the salesman told him it was too late in the year for new orders. He went with the 70 Torino GT. different body style but still beautiful.

Dead ringer for an uncles car I remember as a kid, except his was a 428 Cobra Jet and 4 speed. I would love to find one like that. The 390 was no slouch!
Really nice car. Reminds me of the Fairlane I had when living in Argentina. They made basically the same model until '81. Mine was a' 79 (body like a '69) had a 292, 2 barrel, 3 on the tree, leather seats, dash writing in Spanish. Would have loved to bring it back to USA.

I remember when these were introduced. Ford had a strike that summer and when my dad took me to the dealer at introduction time I was really excited to see one. But due to the strike they were in short supply and the dealer didn’t have one. I was so disappointed!
Cool car. Thank you! The real monster came in 1969 as the Ford Torino Talladega. It came with the 428 standard. It was enough to woo Richard Petty away from Mopar and to Ford. I have a die-cast model of the Talladega Richard Petty drove and he autographed the windshield and the box it came in. As a side note. Ford offered complete crate engines of the 427 used in the Cobras. Some made their way into Mustangs which had the 390 or 428 FE engines and the Torino fastbacks. The Cobra 427 would last for years afterward but without the rear of the cranks drilled for a pilot.
Hi Automated Electronics, Happy to read you have a fun die-cast of the Talladega :-) Did you see the two on the Channel? Here they are for you to enjoy, Lou 1) th-cam.com/video/2gWdLTldabI/w-d-xo.html & 2) th-cam.com/video/2gWdLTldabI/w-d-xo.html
I love the 68/69 Fairlane/Torino and this is a beautiful example. Wouldn't change a thing on this car and having an FE engine under the hood is always good.
I live in Chicagoland Area...if she ever decides to sell this who knows? I want two muscle cars - Torino and Fury III . Those are my wish list cars for the future!
Been a Mopar fan since I was a kid in the 1960's but these fast-back intermediate Fords and Mercurys of this era are amazing! Unfortunately, road salt got to a lot of them.
Hi StVitalKid, Happy to read "these fast-back intermediate Fords and Mercurys of this era are amazing!" :-) You're right, you don't see to many of them today, so I'm glad to share this one with you, Lou
Lou, everything is soooo right about this car! And that red interior and black paint - oooof... The 390 doesn't get a lot of recognition these days, but man...they were torque monsters. Seems I recall a certain all-time great chase scene with Steve McQueen driving a 390 'Stang. 'Nuff said.
@audieconrad8995, that 1968 Mustang 390 GT Bullitt car was not a factory stock 390 engine. Max Blachowski's shop modified it to well over 400 HP. BTW, two modified 1968 390 GT Mustangs were used in that Bullitt movie, but only one survived.

Oh yes...Unrestored, unmolested, original is the best. The automatic is the way to go. My cousin had a 68 Torino with the 4-speed. It was exhausting to drive around town. You definitely had clutch-leg by the end of the day.
Why was the 390 so under rated I have a 69 XL the bank said the 429 was worth the most of course mine has a 351 cleavland which is worth more than the 390 doesn't make sense 390 was gr8
I think the American midsizers are extinct, unless you mean midsize crossover SUVs. But there are rumors that Ford is about to revive the Taurus. The late 60s Mercury Montego/Cyclone is a sharp looking car also.

Hi rayhapes, Sounds like fun times :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
As a 16-year-old in Vancouver, WA, our neighbor had this exact car, down to the red accents on the sides. I drooled all over it--even though I was a "Chevy guy" driving a '63 Biscayne, lol. I can still hear that throaty growl!
Hi Clyde, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbors car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Trivia: Ford was giving away those NEED GAS blue fold ups at the 64-65 New York Worlds Fair. My brother and I both got some when we were kids when we visited the Ford Pavillion. Looks like they updated them each year after with later model cars.
Thank you for sharing the trivia.

She reminds me a lot of my sister. Very cool car lady! I love that you appreciate the originality of this car. I love Torino’s especially yours!
Nice :-)
On a scale of one to ten, that Torino gets a 20! Ford sure knew how to design a fastback. Smokin hot!
High praise :-)
How can one not be happy with that great car it's nice to see a survivor in that great shape
Happy to read you enjoy this "great car" :-)
I love the car and Brittany is beautiful... You're a lucky man Lou ... Ride on brother 👍
Win / Win
One of my Favorite Torinos. My moms friend had a ‘68 Torino and we went to Boston in this car I was 10 years old so it was 1972. I fell in love with the car. I thought the styling and dash board just was so cool

A cousin of mine bought one of these new back in the day. He drove like a maniac laughing more the faster he went. It was red and beautiful. I miss those days. My brother bought a new 428 Cobrajet Fairlane around that time. They really loved those cars! You have a treasure there.
Hi Sam WD, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Cousins car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Hi iswc27, High praise :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou

Love seeing the one's that are unique or obscure out there!! Makes me want to watch Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood........again.
Hi Dave, Happy to read you enjoy this story :-) Glad to read this one inspires you to watch Gran Torino again, Lou
I had a red one with 4 speed and air when i graduated highschool in 73. I graduated to 428CJs after a couple of years.

I had a 390 in my 68 Galaxy 500 2dr.
That ole Ford would fly.
It was baby blue with blue interior.
You just have to watch out as the back 2 valves tend to burn around 120K miles

That’s a nice Torino
:-)

Beautiful survivor 😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks Lou!
Hi motorTranz, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Survivor :-) You're welcome, Lou

Great looking car
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)

Is this the first My Car Story where the walk-around was done in the middle of the road with the car parked right on the centerline?? Imagine approaching from a distance and suddenly seeing a vintage car with the hood up and Lou and Brittany chatting away. LOL! Great car, great owner and, of course, great host. Thanks!
Well that happened about 5 times that cars & SUV's passed by us (really did) but all those cuts did not make the final video :-) You're welcome.
that didnt come from oregon did it? my buddy bought a twin to that in 81 and shortly after he scored a 69 gt coupe 428 cj 4 speed for 800 bucks but the black one here is identical stripes interior color gt wheels ect

What a sweet Torino.
Happy to read you enjoy this "sweet" car :-)
Always loved these cars! They're good looking and rather racy with the fastback. I looked at a '69 like it when I was a kid, but it was the inverse of this car - red with black stripes and a black interior.
It had a 302 and that darned column shifter with bucket seats too...
If it's on the column, just give me the bench seat.
Hi Dan, Happy to read "Always loved these cars!" :-) Lou

Lou, I remember going to the Ford dealer in New Jersey ( Mayfair Ford no longer there ) with my Parents in 1969 and my Father had plans to order a new 69 Torino GT just like this but the salesman told him it was too late in the year for new orders. He went with the 70 Torino GT. different body style but still beautiful.

Dead ringer for an uncles car I remember as a kid, except his was a 428 Cobra Jet and 4 speed. I would love to find one like that. The 390 was no slouch!
Hi Greg, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Happy to share this one with you :-)
Nice. I’ve been married 42 years, so I guess I’m a survivor too!!
You're right.
Cool car.

Great ford
Happy to read "Great ford" :-)
'Nuff said.
Hi Audie, Happy to read "everything is sooo right about this car!" :-) High praise, Lou
WOWWWW!!!!!
:-)
Nice Torino I
:-)
Lou, you've posted a video almost everyday for the past week! You going for a record?

@@loucostabile Ford Taurus SHO Fords best kept secrets, a Taurus with a Yamaha 3.0 L 3.2 L v6 and in the end 3.4 V8 fast and fun to drive if your goanna buy a Taurus that's the one to own, I had two a 93 and a 97 I know they were not in the huge muscle cars but for the year they will do
Goodday Lou,
Love Brittany attitude and total agree with her 110 %.
Too many Mustangs everywhere.
At shows & the road.
These Torino's Fastback don't have a bad angle no matter which way you look at it.
They look fast just standing still.
Imagine back in 1968 these Torino's were just ahead of anything from Mopar or GM.
Still haven't seen one in Australia yet.
Beautiful Muscle Car with a beautiful owner.
Cheers

Goodday Louis, Happy to read "They look fast jus standing still" :-) You don't see to many of them here in the USA either, so I'm glad to be able to share this one with you. Thanks for being my # 1 Fan in Australia. Cheers, Lou
Stroke it to 445 inches and add a Blue Thunder two plane intake...... maybe some Survival Motors heads painted Ford blue.
Perfect sleeper.
Hi Gods own Drunk, Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Lou
Oh yes...Unrestored, unmolested, original is the best. The automatic is the way to go. My cousin had a 68 Torino with the 4-speed. It was exhausting to drive around town. You definitely had clutch-leg by the end of the day.
Hi JWelchon, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Cousins car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Why was the 390 so under rated I have a 69 XL the bank said the 429 was worth the most of course mine has a 351 cleavland which is worth more than the 390 doesn't make sense 390 was gr8
Hi Darin, Hmmm, interesting. I'm not sure. Hoping a Viewer with knowledge can share. Lou
Beautiful car Sweetheart. ❤
Nice :-)
DeKalb or Elgin???
Elgin
Sounds like the car is geared low 12:00 , is ready to go
Just the way we like it :-)
those were slick looking car, only the mercury version can top it (in my estimation). compare that to todays american midsizes and cry silently
Hi Ragimund, Happy to share this "slick looking car" with you :-) Lou
I think the American midsizers are extinct, unless you mean midsize crossover SUVs. But there are rumors that Ford is about to revive the Taurus. The late 60s Mercury Montego/Cyclone is a sharp looking car also.
@@MisterMikeTexas the taurus...yeah, its just i cant take front wheel drive car anymore. im forced to buy pick up just to avoid it. i just want a real regular car...apparently im an extremist lol
@@ragimundvonwallat8961 There's always the "Last Call" Dodge Chargers before they're replaced by EVs. I hear the Pentastar V6 is supposed to get up to 30 mpg, and it still delivers plenty of power.
