Bro, people been talking crap about VW Jetta for years… I am yet to experience one issue with my 2012 VW Jetta SE.. matter of fact I am doing some mods on mine.. I buy all aftermarket parts for my car.. you treat your car well and it will treat you well
@@eimaj3185 no, it’s kinda fixer upper… I had to put in a new radiator support bracket, ambient temp sensor, secure the battery down with a piece i made. Hey man, appreciate the video. Just thought I’d give you some tips on owning a VW as i have the same gen (2014 Jetta 1.8T). I’m at 150k miles. Learn how to do your own oil changes bro. you’ll spend less than $50 on the oil and filter and it’s not hard. Also don’t listen the 10k mileage recommended schedule. I personally do every 5k miles. Also i wouldn’t recommend listening to the “lifetime transmission fluid” they promote. I had to replace my automatic tranny at 90k miles because I listened to that guideline. I’d recommend getting it changed every 30-60k miles. Treat your car nicely and if you can learn to do simple work yourself, you should have a great experience. It’s a great car. Also nice you don’t have to worry about a timing belt replacement since it has the chain which lasts a lot longer. Best of luck and hope you’re enjoying it!
I absolutely love the sleek look of the Jetta. Im just scared of the computer issues ive been reading about. If the comp goes out ive heard you can only take it to a VW dealer for.repairs and they rape you on the charges.
2.5 is a great engine. It also takes a lot of oil, 6.3 Quarts. PCV issues are really the only common problem. It has a large trunk! weird issues like Ignition barrel, door actuators can happen. I have 235000 on my 2011.
I dont know about that im still driving a 2009 vw golf wagon with the 2.0 tdi. Ive got 257000 miles on it all orginial engine and turbo. Ive done the timing belt and water pump twice.
@@leadnsteel1428My friend had a 1.8t wolfrnburg jetta that lasted til 240k miles and would've gone more if he hadn't gone 18k miles without an oil change😂
Ones with the 2.5 & 09G Aisin Trans are great. Others, the TDI version, with the smaller turbo engines & direct injection have carbon issues & timing belts where as the 2.5 has a chain. There's also some with the DGS trans that are expensive to replace so make sure it's been maintained. These cars are popular with mod enthusiast & even the smaller turbos are good if they are maintained. These cars are fun to drive & they remind me of the 1990s early 2000s Euro style bodys you'd see in America & they are very safe & comfortable for such a small car. The main issues are emissions crap.
My ‘13 jetta se its just about to hit 136k miles. No engine nor trans problems (mines the 09g auto), just basic maintenance. Only “costly” repairs Ive done is throttle body and manifold replacement, crankshaft position sensor, and n80 purge valve, other than that, I haven’t touched anything.
Have you serviced the transmission fluid / filter or do you know if that service was ever done previously? I want to buy a Jetta this body with the 09g auto but worried about transmission problems if I buy a high mileage one
@@dt0349 Yeah I do take it to have it serviced. Imma be honest with you. It currently is at 137k miles. I got it at 107k. Don’t know about previous services, but I’ve been servicing it every 40,000 km or every 2-1/2 years. I try to use the best fluid I can. If the Jetta you’re thinking to get is under 100k miles it still can be saved, have it serviced and that’s it. If it’s over 150k miles and never been serviced, I wouldn’t touch the tranny, better drive it until it dies and get a new one after.
I have a 2015 GLI, ive owned it for almost 7 years now, my only main issue was when I got a tank of watered down gas that killed my high pressure fuel pump and messed up my plugs, after that fix she's been running fine, i keep up with my regular service intervals and oil changes, other than tires i haven't had any other major purchases, if you take care of your vehicle properly it will last you for a long while. Good luck with your Jetta
Got 216k on my 2012 2.5 Love this car never had a single issue just regular maintenance 🤌🏻 great engine just enough power to have fun with and sounds amazing with exhaust modifications 😈
German engineering, with a Japanese transmission, made assembled in Mexico. I've owned 3, my newest 2022 Jetta SE. Awesome... only wish the 2022 model had a Sirius radio!
For the year, 133k miles is right about where the average vehicle would be at so I can partially agree with your statement. Flip side, especially when you factor in future maintenance cost, "wear and tear" parts and potential warranty options, most people would lean towards something with less miles if they had a choice.
I’m looking into a 2012 VW Jetta 2.5L was told the main seal is leaking but I’ve seen videos saying that it’s commonly misdiagnosed anyone know about all of that?
Hey i'm a 16 year old looking for my first car and i found the same exact car but it has 189k miles. Is it worth it? Will it have a lot of problems? I would appreciate your response, thank you!
Recent reviews on this vehicle aren’t many thanks. Most are saying they get 35 instead of rated 45 mpg. If your’s is a hybrid what mpg are you getting? Concidering the savings maybe its worth it for the performance.
