I was wondering how miles other people had on their Jetta I have a 2003 Jetta TDI with 487,915 miles no major work on sane kind of small maintenance on and it's still running like a champ You just love the TDI with a manual transmission and I still get 39.4 miles to the gallon Loved the video and car
@@Youngsnazzy231 I don't think a diesel is any more likely to leak than a gas engine. Mind didn't actually leak anything. Hopefully you can figure out what's leaking and fix it. Leaks are no fun. :(
I found a 1999 Jetta TDI alh manual 180,000 miles for 6,000. Is it worth it? Carfaxed it and it had 10 previous owners… no accidents each owner drove it less than the average driver. Maintenance records are there too.
Hey mate, I live in Australia and I’m looking at buying an 06 Jetta tdi with only 48k miles with a perfect service history. Would you recommend it, what should I be on the look out for?
Hello my friend, They are selling me a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle TDI 1.9 with 280,000 miles for $1,800. I live in Florida. The car has been driven in Milwaukee its entire life. It has corrosion underneath. Should I buy it?
That could be a really good deal. I wouldn't be worried about a little surface corrosion, but if the structure is rotting away and there are holes in structural parts like the engine cradle, sub frame or control arms I would avoid it.
@@bennieaust I just asked when the last he replaced the cams, timing belt and water pump. Has a new battery and the clutch and flywheel were replaced around 50k miles ago. Think it’s a go? I’m meeting him in the next 4 hours
@@bennieaustI had one of these with 400k miles on it when I sold it. I had to replace the cam and lifters once but replaced with hardened version. Seemed to hold up well and wasn't very expensive.

That sounds a little expensive, but if it's a clean rust free car it's probably still a good value.

I be on the look out for?
I would definitely recommend it! the biggest thing to look out for in the future is cam failure. I wouldn't expect that until about 150K miles.
I love the sound of that dieswl
Driving a manual diesel is hard to beat!
@@bennieaust 2.5 l no turbo I don’t think
Is the five cylinder gas version very durable if maintained?
Yes, the 2.5 5 cylinder has a reputation for being bulletproof.
@bennieaust 👍

@bennieaust Thank you very much for the reply, your video is great.
@ thanks!
Hey man I’m looking at one right now. 06 manual with 190k. California car. He’s asking 4300
That sounds like a pretty decent deal. Do you know if the cam has been replaced?
My brother sold this one in the video for $3500.

That all sounds pretty good. Like any used car, expect it will need something, but that sounds like a car that’s been taken care of.
