bro, Isaac is such a different game now. I used to recognize every single item, boss, miniboss, etc in the game, and know everything about it. I took a break from Isaac content after Delirium got released, and now I'm totally lost.
Chain Geode Broken rocks have a 40% chance to break nearby rocks. If you have another geode, the chance goes up to 70% and nearby pits have a 20% chance to fill.
Yeah, specific rock trinkets and rock themed trinkets. (So vanilla items that are rock like) unsure if petrified poop is mechanically a "rock" trinket, never took it to the subway and see if it can be grinded or crushed or anything.
There should be like a special boss that only exists to give you a dps check, killing it will grant you access to new floors with harder enemies and bosses

it was pretty clear placebeode... all geodes get a bonus effect if holding another geode. u dont need that other geode I also had that same problem like when u were soft locked. i had some item that randomly called holy light down on enemies. then got an item that gave me charmed homies and the holy light didnt recognize them as friendly. so holy lights just spawned CONSTANTLY because it kept killing enemies so fast my charmed boys were dying. i had a roomfull of charmed enemies and my game crashed constantly

I think one of the ways they could balance the character is to make sure that every trinket only crushes into one Soul heart and never one and a half
Placebeode basically acts as if you're holding it if you smelt it, thus still upgrading other geodes
