People are hating on her for the same reasons that i love her, shes probably the or one of the most genuine celebrities ive seen. She stands up for herself, she stands up for what she believes in, she doesnt do endoresements or shows if they dont align with her views, and shes so open and passionate about them. I have the utmost respect for her, and she deserves that respect from everyone
this is the kind of authenticity and transparency people have begging celebrities for for YEARS!!!! and now we have it and people are upset? we should be so happy that a queer woman feels comfortable enough to voice herself to a huge audience.
Agreed! 100% and I don't even know her! She's so strong for putting her opinion out there and being HONEST! Her opinion is totally valid AND may not be as unpopular as some people think!
As a very big Chappel Roan fan, WHY WOULD I WANT TO KNOW HER FAMILY!? Look, I love her music AND her message, but I genuinely do not care about her family in the most respectfull way possible. I don't know these people nor do I want to know, because I like HER and NOT her family that's just living.
Well I guess there is this trend as of late of disgraceful people getting the upper hand. Chappell roan is a assh0le. She is a complete a33. She calls her fan stalkers and creeps, she cancelled shows, she refuses to stand up for Kamala Harris, even though Kamala is the only one that can help the drag community! I have no respect for anyone this selection who stays silent! This is the most important election of all elections ever! And I’m not exaggerating. This is about our democracy and this is about protecting women making sure they get the healthcare they need. So if chopper, Wallen doesn’t want to stand up for women what the hell is she doing? Honestly, she probably secretly likes Donald Trump because Donald Trump is also an a33. Makes sense he says a bunch of sh1t and seems to get away with it. I guess these days people just don’t have any manners whatsoever. People just wanna say whatever they wanna say without any consequences to their actions. And I’m getting really sick and tired of it. Seriously, about to write a book about disgraceful people in the world. Because this sh1t makes me sick. And to anybody who is a Chappell Roan fan, don’t be leaving me any responses to this comment. You’re an effing cult. No matter what she does you’re gonna follow her like Donald Trump and his effing people. Nothing I say here is gonna matter because you treat her like she’s a effing God. She’s no God she’s just a human being. She’s just like everybody else. Anyways, those are my thoughts. I have a right to share my opinions, and I would appreciate people not being rude and nasty to me. I know it’s so hard for people to hold back and actually have a heart. This world is become so hostile and nasty and cruel. It’s like where is your morals and values? Anyways, that’s just my thoughts you can agree with me. You could disagree with me, but just don’t attack me just because I have an opinion.
yall she didnt do anything really wrong. she's outspoken and doesnt 'play it safe' like most celebs which is making people paint her in a bad light even though she's almost always been right. inspiring to see someone not get caught up in the scam of fame and remain true to herself
She talks like she knows better than everyone around her. She WILL say something that will get herself cancelled at some point because she’s clearly not been media trained and doesn’t have a line in what she should and shouldn’t talk about.
@sillystellarstella Omg I have literally not seen a single defense of Roan that did not wildy mischaracterize the criticism, strawman her critics/ mimic her erasure of pro-Palestinian/Black critics, hide behind mental illness or her secktual preference while bending over backwards to downplay her whiteness/white privilege, falsely smear her critics as "Zionists" who "uncritically worshipi politicians" or that they're even all "fans" of "Kaahh Mulah". Chappell & Stans Be Intellectually Honest & Not Disgustingly Weasely While Lowkey Racist Challenge.

@baphometbby it was a festival though, there's a pretty solid lineup and there's always usually some changes beforehand, it's not like she canceled a concert just for her
I’m a queer trans minor, and I genuinely don’t understand why people are mad at Chappell. I 100% agree with her on everything, and I don’t understand how she “isn’t gay” because she doesn’t support Kamala. What????
Don't listen to them. Liberals will try to dehumanize and erase queer leftists but they can't and never will. Never stop criticizing people. On every side.
She's so far past dem/leftist and people don't know what to do with incredibly progressive people like Chappell. Bc she didn't say anything wrong and it was obvious who she'd chose based on her former political takes. These people just hate queer women I swear.
Hey Louis, I too only recently came to terms with being ace. You're years ahead of me and I'm happy for you! Don't overlook how much we are marginalized, asexual folk like us have to suffer a lot of social discrimination. I hate to break it to you, but it strongly affects the way a lot of people people will perceive you/place you on some fucked up sexual social hierarchy. We are overlooked and stepped over and ignored because our struggles aren't perceived as "severe." But being openly/out as a person on the asexual spectrum comes with its own often unrecognized challenges. And there's like next to no support, no one talks about it. I have no interest in playing "oppression Olympics" with my fellow queer folk, because I know that my risk for severe bodily injury/retaliatory assault/medical neglect for example, is certainly higher than a cishet person's but I wouldn't want to diminish other queer persons experiences by comparing them to mine. Just don't overlook yourself, it's OK to advocate for asexual inclusion and recognition.
I'm aro not ace but yes I still agree! Especially as a bisexual aromantic it's pretty scary sometimes what people just assume about you and based on that form an opinion
personally i think people NEED to see celebrities as real people. especially celebrities that are way more new, they’re so sure to make mistakes like ANY person would. some mistakes are just harmless, but some are genuine bad choices, or selfish traits, etc, traits you would see in an actual person. some things are definitely cancel worthy, but something’s are just a celebrity doing something a normal person would which yes, could be selfish or rubbing someone the wrong way, but something natural
@@casperopossum5479it absolutely makes sense. So many people treat celebs like they can do no wrong, that just because theyre well known/famous,that theyre like some god or something. They do one harmless little thing wrong or “different” and everyone turns on them or act like theyre some hero.
@@casperopossum5479 Yeah it fucking does. We treat celebrities like they're above us, and it either harms them like Britney Spears, either allow them to harm others like Diddy and R Kelly. Celebrities are just humans with tricks.
Also, people are acting like the 2 cancelled concerts were STANDALONE Chapell concerts when theyre NOT. Like??? That was a music FESTIVAL. There are so many other performers there!! Chappell didnt cancel her own 1-person concerts or anything, she cancelled her performances at a music festival where dozens of other artists would be performing. People can be sad that they didnt get to see her perform, thats understandable. Even if she was the main reason they bought tickets, it is absolutely NOT the same as being left high and dry with no entertainment or performances left to attend. You are allowed to be upset, but she was 1 performer out of dozens of massive artists and it is absurd that the backlash to her cancelled performances was so massive, considering there were many other events left to attend
Well, if you were going because she was preforming and you find out the day before that she wasn’t going to be there you’d probably be unhappy about it.
@BTMT852 yeah, I said "People can be sad that they didnt get to see her perform, that's understandable." And, "You are allowed to be upset," so absolutely i get it if people are unhappy about that. It was one of my points in the comment. But the main message I am saying is that the outrage for 2 cancelled performances at a multi-artist festival is disproportionate to the amount of hate she is getting. If she had canceled 2 shows where she was the sole main event, it would make more sense that people were SO mad. But she cancelled performances at a music festival, and those that bought tickets to see her could still get their money's worth by attending other concerts at that festival. So for that reason, I believe the public's harsh response is disproportionate
I’d argue it’s worse. Festivals are expensive and it’s likely some fans only bought tickets to see her, not to mention travel housing etc. If it was standalone, she could at least refund tickets. In this case she can’t
@lilritual202 i definitely see the point you're making, and you're right that if it was standalone she could have refunded tickets. Anyone that bought tickets to see Chappell has every right to be upset that she cancelled. With the travel and housing costs though, I personally see the cancelled festival performances as a better situation than cancelled standalone concerts. If someone spends their money to travel and stay a few nights in a hotel or inn, I think it is better that AT LEAST they can still see other musicians perform at the festival while they are in town. If it was a standalone concert, they would be there with absolutely no reason to stay. I'm not saying it isn't frustrating at all, in fact, I would be unhappy if it were me in that situation. But festivals at least offer other entertainment, so nobody was left high and dry with nothing to do after chappell cancelled. Someone paying for travel and housing being refunded standalone concert tickets would still have lost money - which sucks - plus they'd have had no fun experiences to justify it. But for a festival, there are at LEAST other artists you can watch since you were already in town. It still sucks, but not as bad in my opinion. The point of my og comment is that fans are allowed to be upset and frustrated, BUT the outrage and hatred for chappell seems very disproportionate given the context
Listen every time Chappell has said something “controversial” I’ve been on her side. Good for her for being so outspoken and for defending her personal space and beliefs. I know and enjoy Chappell Roan as the artist not as the person and am not entitled to her time or personal space
Dude I just can’t with this, as a Brit and a politics student in college, I think this is genuinely disgusting. She has the right, the VOTERS RIGHTS, to have at SECRET BALLOT. Meaning, nobody has the right to know how she votes, it’s her vote and it’s private. The endorsing of political candidates by celebrities is completely unfathomable to me. The point of a vote is the fact that is a singular vote, or in simpler terms YOUR VOTE, and ONLY YOURS. This isn’t democracy, it’s far from it in fact. Thank you for reading my little rant!! 🎉
@@lydiat8686 my entire point was that it’s gross that she has too, its non of your business how she votes, because it’s her right to keep her vote secret. She has Voter’s Rights, forcing her to endorse someone by telling people who she’s voting for is infringing on those rights
just straight up ppl hate when women speak about politics. the internet asks for influencers to speak up, support and do stuff, and when it happens they get so fucking mad about it
i dont understand the people saying things about her. i would like to make some points defending her and her reputation. 1. "but she signed up for this" no she did not. what she signed up for was pictures and signatures. she did not sign up to be attacked, or yelled at, or followed home, or even her family followed home. that is not normal human behaviour. 2. "so she doesnt want people to like her?" she does, but there is a massive difference between *liking* someone and *stalking them.* 3. "she just hates her fans" she does not hate her fans. rising to fame is very scary and she is probably extremely nervous about it.
I agree and yes, becoming famous can be very overwhelming. Her fans behavior is also unacceptable, But that is something that comes with fame. There are pros and cons to every job, and I think that’s something she needs to understand.
@@MalzyMooLuvsYou Orrrr, people like her can wake up people. It shouldn't BE a normal part of her job. I think it's nuts to say that Chappell Roan will have to get used to be stalked and harrassed because she's a celebrity. If no one parented those fans right, then someone has to tell them that they're creepy and that Chappell Roan and literally *every other celebrity* should not have to deal with that.
@@vll3yy I agree it shouldn’t be a normal part of her job. It shouldn’t be normal to anyone. It’s a horrible thing. But, it’s the reality of things. People are creepy. Every celebrity deals with it on some level.
@@MalzyMooLuvsYou So we work to change it. We don’t just sit and say, “yep, this is what she’ll have to deal with until (or perhaps even after) the day she dies”. That is scary and no one should have to deal with that. I think she understands VERY WELL what’s happening right now and maybe she is desperately trying to set up boundaries with her fans which is pretty normal. It’s harder to set up boundaries the more famous you get, but boundaries have been successfully been put up by artists. If she needs to make her concerts 18+ because, let’s say, kids are more likely to be creepy, then she should do that (y’know, just stealing what Will Wood did when his fans were being… interesting as an example). I think we should work to making the world safer for everyone even if it’s never completely safe, we can go for the closest thing to it. Chappell speaking out is a good start (albeit the backlash isn’t nice but it’s expected because some like pretending parasocial relationships are the same as ones that go back and forth (to be honest, how do you describe a relationship that is not parasocial?))
As an autistic person I relate heavily to this struggle because I could say something plain as day but people ALWAYS look deeper. Like no because I said I like pie does not mean that I hate cake. I think her issue is people digging deeper when she says what she means if you know her general beliefs. People are just searching for a reason to hate her and it's sad.
PREACH OMFG, reminds me of a post/meme i saw where someone said "i could say 'i love pancakes' and someone would say 'so you hate waffles?' bitch thats a whole different sentence..." chappell is literally just saying she doesn't side with anything and mfs r taking EVERYTHING outta context like my dawgito, SHE DIDNR SAY THAT 😭😭 people ALWAYS wanna find just little tiny things to hate abt someone especially when theyre rising into fame, its absolutely insane ☹️ thats why as someone who does have autistic traits (i may be getting diagnosed soon as well), i always try to explain in full detail so ppl dont get confused which makes it seem like i'm yapping haha
As a leftist, I don’t think I would endorse either candidate either, if I had Chappell’s platform. I’m going to vote for Harris, because I think the status quo is moderately better than a rapid backslide into fascism. But I don’t *like* her. She’s not progressive enough for me, and her views don’t really align with mine that much. But they align with them more than Trump’s do, by a long shot. Chappell Roan isn’t sitting on the fence here-she makes it pretty clear through her actions and opinions what her political beliefs are, even if she doesn’t explicitly side with one party or another. And she’s right to say that both sides have problems-they absolutely do! While I prefer the Democratic Party to the GOP, both are *deeply* flawed, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable solidly associating myself with either (my vote for Harris isn’t an endorsement of her party, it’s a vote against the alternative). And that’s clearly where Chappell is at, too. We shouldn’t be basing our politics on the party lines, we should be basing them on what’s the best decision. If some progressive anarchist somehow got a foothold in the Republican Party, I’d vote for him before I’d vote for any Democrat who’s ever run. Because the labels don’t matter. The policies do.
Yeah that's the message i got, too. I thought it was crystal clear. I can't believe people really took it as her saying they are equally bad. People are being beyond petty
Louis, bestie, I hate to break it to you, but that's not what a centrist is. A centrist doesn't mean that you don't align with one political party or another, it means you lie in the center on social, economical, and governmental issues. So a centrist position on the human rights stuff would essentially be indifference. Either that or a slight favoring one way or the other. The fight for human rights has always been a left leaning ideal because the foundation of leftism is equality and progress. The foundation of the right is conserving the systems that already exist and in many cases recently, returning to old systems (which often include removing those human rights like with the repeal of roe v. wade). I'm not here to tell you how to identify yourself, but as you said as a person with influence it's your job to not spread misinfo to your viewers. And while I'm by no means saying this is misinfo, I do believe it's a misunderstanding and one that can do some real harm and lead people down a destructive path.
@@thetamperer9784 more like unaffiliated. Because I don't vote based on political party either. I vote based on my personal political ideals. I'm not a Democrat. I'm a leftist. The left and the right don't change, but the parties and their names do.
As a centrist myself, I thought his definition was spot on. I’ve never met or heard of a person who self identifies as centrist and doesn’t use that definition. I could be wrong but I’m experience his way of explaining it seemed accurate.
@@banksparenteau7779 that's fine. Like I said, I'm by no means trying to dictate how you identify yourself. I'm just trying to point out what centrism actually is. If that's the word you like to describe your political leanings, more power to you. I was just letting him know that in political spheres, that isn't what that word means which is important for him to know as someone with a platform.
i’m not sure how people even dislike her because yeah, fuck the government and question everything? That’s so punk rock man, Idk why queer people would Hate her for such ideas
Louis, not only do I believe you when you say you're ace, you have always given off major Ace vibes. Thank you for sharing that with us all. And thank you for this video! I've never heard Chappel's music, but she seems like a good, genuine person.
She doesn’t suck up to her fanbase, she doesn’t feed you from a bottle to calm you down for not gaining any attention from her, she’ll call her stalkers loners, she won’t talk to you in a baby voice to make you feel like she’s your bestie forever. She shouldn’t be harassed for having a normal reaction to abnormalities.
Not fully aligning with the democratic or republican party doesn't automatically make you a centrist. Centrism is falling in the middle of the political scale. American politics are extremely skewed towards the right; with the republican party falling towards the extreme far right side of the scale and the democratic being more center right. Even a true centrist is going to be more left leaning then the average democratic politician. I'm a leftist and I do not consider myself a democrat.
I'm asexual as well, and I will say that there is definitely still discrimination it just isn't as prevalent. Worse case being someone threatening (or committing) r*pe to "prove" their victim isn't asexual. And though not violent, the constant alienation from parts of the queer community
I'm asexual and "pure" asexuals will tell me I'm not a "real" asexual because I'm not a virgin. I've both been SA'ed and have had sex(because I didn't know i was at the time and due to societal expectations, I thought that if you're in a relationship, you're obligated to your partner and that you have to have sex for your relationship to be valid-since i didn't know asexuality was a thing at the time). I've been alienated both by allo people and other asexual people.

I genuinely feel that we, especially on the interent, have genuinely let chappell roan down. She was shot to stardom with multiple mental health issues and critiqued for her every (honestly very minor) actions , and is being told to apologise by a swarm of mindless haters for asking them to critically form their own opinions! Not to mention that she is one of very few to use this platform she created (again, VERY QUICKLY) to attempt to do good. I can't wait to see what she can do next ❤ great video, Louis
So now it’s controversial to have any opinion ever? Holy shit man, I don’t even understand what the problem is. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! She didn’t even say anything wrong, I’m so confused by this. What is there to be mad about? I’m part of the lgbtq and I agree with her. I’m not left or right, and I don’t really support either candidate, that doesn’t make me any less bisexual. Like what the hell man

People wanted a celebrity like her, spoke their minds, took breaks when needed; but when they get one they turn on her and make her out to be the bad guy This is exactly why I hate the internet
Louis, I know it may not seem so when you're under a two-party system, but not being affiliated to either of them does NOT make you a centrist. Being right-wing or left-wing has much more to do with what you personally believe in and advocate for than any political party. For what I've been hearing from you over these past few months I'd say you're a leftist or at least progressive, which in no way, shape or form automatically makes you a democrat - especially because, if we're being honest, the US democratic party as a whole is very far from being left wing. They're center-right AT BEST. You have congresspeople with Ds beside their names who are indeed leftists, but most of them, especially those who have been there for decades, are all very well-versed in the game of politics and are worried with doing whatever it takes to keep themselves inside of it and they don't even hide it. I remember hearing about this democrat candidate for congress either in 20 or 22 that won her district's primary against a true leftist candidate with a VERY neoliberal (in the economic sense, the way everyone else in the world uses the term lmao) discourse - that's right-wing, and she was (well, is, I guess) a democrat. If I were American, especially in a swing state, I would DEFINITELY go vote for Kamala, but much more so because of Trump than anything else. It's valid to question her policies, her beliefs and her history. I watch a couple of youtubers who identify as leftists and aren't comfortable voting for Kamala, and I truly understand and respect that. I just hope, again, that they don't live in a swing state, because anyone who knows even a little bit about US politics knows the electoral college system only exists to benefit the republican party and its candidates. The fact that Lindsay Graham, a senator from South Carolina, went to I believe Kentucky to try to make their state senate pass a bill to change their way of counting the electoral college votes from a district-by-district system to winner takes all (like other 48 states do) because they have ONE blue district that could make the difference in the results should make it crystal clear, but that's another issue entirely. Anywho. I hope I was able to make myself understood.
Para social relationships are always bad. Stop holding random people up on pedestals like this and then chappel will be able to say dumb shit sometimes without it ending the whole internet.
As an anarcho-punk, here's a few thoughts. using such a huge platform to inadvertently skew the idea of leftism vs democrats/liberalism. LEFTISM IS VERY DIFFERENT THAN LIBERALISM. Liberals and democrats are NOT the "left". It might've been out of ignorance, but they are not the same and confusing the two sometimes does more harm than good. The spirit is there but criticizing liberals and democrats like they are the left is dangerous for actual leftism. A lot of the left has done SO much fucking work to keep our trans, queer, BIPOC and disadvantaged communities safe from harm and targeting FROM liberals and conservatives both. It's like she's getting to the point but she doesn't truly understand there's more than liberal and conservative. There are not only 2 sides. This is what liberals and conservatives want americans to think. They want to erase true leftism, anarchism, socialism, communism, etc. Theres a LOT of options and a LOT of research to be done before speaking up with this serious of a platform. Liberals act like they care or they acknowledge minority communities, they do not. Voting is also not the only thing we can do. Using voting to disregard the need for keeping each other safe, protecting all of us, is disturbing. We protect us. No one else will. If you distract yourself with the system in place and try to uphold the system at the expense of EVERYONE in danger, you are no better than the system. We shouldn't focus on making this system "better", because its working exactly as intended. Its not broken. Tell that "we need to vote" to the 44 BILLION dollars sent to Israel by this current administration. And you want people to believe that the only options left for us are to vote for either that administration or an administration that will turn the country into HELL?? NO. Voting should not be the focus. The focus should be protecting each other, building a trustworthy community, and upholding that community. Community is literally ALL WE HAVE NOW.
i like your point but how can anyone build a community, nothing will change a system when people endorsing and upholding it are probably more powerful and rich than any of us will ever be
Chappel is probably one of the MOST HONEST AND REAL celebs i have ever seen and yet somehow she gets torn to shreds just for being HONEST and because of situations like this one is why i think politians and other famous people lie, they don't wanna deal w it but chappel is truly so inspirational for being as outspoken as she is
Louis, please do keep the guitar in the beginning, but could you adjust the mix so your voice is louder in the intros? I'm loving the evolution of your videos as you grow!!
Okay, halfway in. And I gotta say as an aroace person, I wouldn't say we're "less marginalized", it's just not as known or recognized, even in queer spaces. I've had to explain my identity to different queer people before, even other aspec individuals, a lot of us in our own community don't even know our umbrella terms and labels! A relationship is automatically assumed to be romantic and sexual, no matter who is in said relationship, making it harder to have them if you don't experience said feelings. Aspec people are called inhumane or not normal/characters without those feelings are usually made as aliens or robots. Discrimination against us does exist, it's just not noticed because it's interwoven with our cultures norms, even in queer spaces. Transphobia and Homophobia are more societal discriminations (as in it is a BIG issue in medias and is well known as a thing.) Aphobia and even discrimination against Polyamory is more interpersonal. It's more under the guise of "these two specific feelings are felt by EVERYONE and if you say they aren't, YOU'RE wrong." Etc. hopefully this makes sense 😅
Also, even when there IS aspec characters people usually end up shipping them with other characters and saying that "it's a spectrum so they can experience romantic/sexual attraction still. I can hc them as _" which basically ignores the identity as a whole for their headcanoning benefit. (FYI incase someone tries to say I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm gay and trans too (and even black, crazy I know) lol, I've dealt with all of these 💔)
A fellow aroace person!! :-D I’m also aroace, but I still don’t think we’re *as* systemically oppressed as other queer people. I feel as though we tend to fly under the radar, so to speak, as LGTBQ+ people, and although this does result in the very valid issues you’ve mentioned, I think it also benefits us in some ways. For instance, politically. There are many states or countries that don’t allow gay marriage, or even openly gay relationships. There are much fewer policies on simply choosing *not* to have sex or *not* to get married. What I mean by that is… let’s say America bans gay marriage. This prohibition affects gay people, lesbians, bisexuals, pansexuals, omnisexuals, etc etc. But if someone lacks sexual and romantic attraction, they won’t be harmed by this law unless they’re another sexuality on top of aroace. You can often see this through history too. In the 60s, even just trying to hold hands with your lover of the same gender could get you mocked or berated. But then if ya don’t feel romantic or sexual attraction, then ya don’t got any hands to hold. We still might face individual prejudice or mockery, but I find it hard to argue that we are equally as oppressed as other queer people systemically. ( PS, I don’t want to speak on behalf of *all* aroace people, since some may have faced very life altering or traumatizing experience. With my little yap session, I don’t mean to comment from the perspective of the individual, rather from a systemic point of view. Feel free to reply if you disagree or think something I said was incorrect!! )
@@-yumefroots-8244 i completely agree that we aren't the targets of antiqueer policies. (Although we totally can be affected by them even though we are aro, ace, or aroace. Like you said if we do still have a attraction. Or even if you don't and still want to have a relationship with someone- QPRS.) And therefore our discrimination isn't very societal. But we do experience it due to the mindset that come in tandem with cishetnormatively called amatonornativity. It's the "assumption that all human beings pursue love or romance, especially by the means of a monogamous long-term relationship." Aro/ace people aren't the only queer identity affected by it either as polyamorous individuals also face similar discrimination due to this mindset. It's just that due to our identities not being as well known and acknowledged, or something you can necessarily regulate (force people to marry other people) it's not how we experience discrimination. My argument isn't that we are as equally oppressed systematically, it's that our oppression is interpersonally experienced and exchanged. By flatout denying our existence, and making people believe that in order to be happy/fulfilled in life you have to have a romantic AND sexual relationship. Also not to forget how even in queer spaces we are very much ignored as being a identity half the time because we don't fit the norm of loving people the way that they want us to. Politics in terms of career and the people actually in power? Yeah. But it's important to remember that politics is for everyone, and it's more than our systems, but how we define power, justice, morality, and what should and shouldn't be allowed as a society. It's why the opinions and wants of the citizens can often differ massively from those in power. Sorry for this massive reply I'll shut up now
@@sk1ttlz904 Yes but still, I am not saying everybody in politics is a asshole. I am just saying the majority of the people we have right now on both sides. I know that there will be somebody that will make sure that the world is a great place for everybody
I hear her. She's not wrong. The issue folks seem to have is that her tone and choice of wording is bad. She doesn't worry about being misunderstood and as a result is misunderstood a lot. She's a relatively new person, she's white, and she's from an incredibly conservative state. Her actions don't really mean anything because all LGBTQ folks know a gay Republican. Also I think you're mistaking "centrist" for "independent" In America "centrist" means "conservative but not alt right" The thing you are referring to about your beliefs is more lefty than centrist. Also left and right are not synonyms for Democrat and Republican. Democrats are actually center right in the US. Most "I hate both sides" folks are on the far left and based on her actions I have a feeling she is too
we love chappell and she is wholeheartedly preaching what we all need to hear. And congratulations on figuring out and coming out louis! Im so happy for you
america is too ironic to be funny. trying to force millions to fit a cookie cutter life while also preaching ultimate freedom is backwards as all hell.
I respect you so much as a person and genuinely appreciate such level-headed takes like yours and Chappel’s Congrats on coming out as asexual, ace lives matter 💖 and I’m sick of people not associating them with the lgbtq community You honestly help me a lot in terms of your content, you handle your topics with such empathy (not to form a parasocial relationship, I just respect your beliefs overall from what you’ve presented)
I find it interesting how people are mad at Chapel Roan for not endorsing anyone yet she's done more to help people than a lot of the celebrities who have endorsed a party
Louis i hope you know you are 100% welcome in the queer community (i am a queer person) honestly you seem like a cool dude even if you werent technically in the community you would be welcome. you have made it clear you support everyone every time it comes up so dw about it! loved the vid btw i was so worried that chappell did smtn wrong 🥹
Imo if a famous person likes being asked for autographs or likes taking pictures then there you go. But if they don’t- then that’s fine. Famous people. ARE PEOPLE. they don’t owe you anything. And it’s crazy people don’t understand human decency because they think the world revolves around them.

I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to finally see some asexual representation on TH-cam. I feel like you’re the only TH-camr I watch that I’ve seen talk about it let alone identify with it. So thank you for sharing your identity with us!
If you’re looking to watch more ace creators, Rowan Ellis is an ace lesbian who makes great video essays! Also, Tara Mooknee isn’t ace but made a great video about amatonormativity
Call me an anarchist surrounded by other anarchists but I thought it was standard for left leaning people to hate the way the government functions on both sides. When did it become this weird, convoluted boot licking because one politician more or less aligns with you.
as a lesbian, seeing people dissect chappell’s romantic/sexual history because they don’t like her outspokenness, is really really sad. so many lesbians are raised in circles where girls liking girls is not a possibility, it’s not even something that is supposed to cross your mind, and that leads us to believe growing up that we are supposed to be attracted to men, so when a man shows us attention and makes you feel lovable, it can feel like attraction. but as our society has begun to become more accepting and people become more educated, many of us realize that these feelings for men are not long-term, sustainable, or true romantic love. people say “oh she was engaged to a man but he dumped her and now she calls herself a lesbian”, which is completely in bad faith. it could have been what snapped her out of it and realize she didn’t even want to marry him, who knows! a lot of older lesbians only realize they are after years of marriage to a man. it’s a normal thing. human sexuality is confusing and takes years, decades sometimes, to figure out. people need to leave this lady ALONE.
It's like telling an asexual person that they can't be ace because they're not a virgin. Just like you said, it takes A WHILE for someone to figure out their sexuality
Her being blunt and open on her stance is refreshing, people are really stuck in black and white thinking when that’s absolutely not the case especially with American politics.
(As a fellow ginger) The way that you present information and stuff that should be common sense is something that I wish more people would see and realize that we should treat humans as humans. Thank you for being one of the most genuine creators I have had the privilege of coming across!
Now while I don't believe centrism is an actual thing, I'm not rude or uncivil. I also believe Roan is not taking a centrist stand, but a radical leftist stance. And I agree with her heavily.
Hey Louis, I know you'll probably never see this but I'm a younger person, and I'm also asexual. Seeing someone I really look up to and who I watch who shares that in common with me brings me so much joy. Thank you for making me feel less alone and for making content

People have normalized parasocial relationships WAY too much.

We are overlooked and stepped over and ignored because our struggles aren't perceived as "severe."
But being openly/out as a person on the asexual spectrum comes with its own often unrecognized challenges.

Especially as a bisexual aromantic it's pretty scary sometimes what people just assume about you and based on that form an opinion
personally i think people NEED to see celebrities as real people. especially celebrities that are way more new, they’re so sure to make mistakes like ANY person would. some mistakes are just harmless, but some are genuine bad choices, or selfish traits, etc, traits you would see in an actual person. some things are definitely cancel worthy, but something’s are just a celebrity doing something a normal person would which yes, could be selfish or rubbing someone the wrong way, but something natural
does that make sense
@@casperopossum5479it absolutely makes sense. So many people treat celebs like they can do no wrong, that just because theyre well known/famous,that theyre like some god or something. They do one harmless little thing wrong or “different” and everyone turns on them or act like theyre some hero.
@@casperopossum5479You made a really good point. It can be dangerous putting celebrities on such high pedestals, both for the celeb and the fan
Ah, see, that makes more sense
The point of my og comment is that fans are allowed to be upset and frustrated, BUT the outrage and hatred for chappell seems very disproportionate given the context
finally someone who can understand what she’s saying and not take it out of context thank you king🫡

Ok but Chappell Roan didn't endorse anyone though
We don't want people to be pressured to vote a certain way. The right to vote invisibly is def a part of that.
As an Aussie same
Besides the point nonsense
2. "so she doesnt want people to like her?" she does, but there is a massive difference between *liking* someone and *stalking them.*
3. "she just hates her fans" she does not hate her fans. rising to fame is very scary and she is probably extremely nervous about it.
agree
This title is giving me a heart attack
Wait what was the og title?

And while I'm by no means saying this is misinfo, I do believe it's a misunderstanding and one that can do some real harm and lead people down a destructive path.
okay so i wasnt crazy for thinking his definition of a centrist was a little off the mark😅
I'm guessing the word he is looking for is "uncommitted"?
I was just letting him know that in political spheres, that isn't what that word means which is important for him to know as someone with a platform.

I might just be stretching it lol but ppl need to get off chapels back first pronouncing it the way she did
@CloudDecaynot really…Kamala pronounces her name kaw-muh-luh, not kuh-maw-luh. Traditional pronunciations don’t extend to the individual’s preference. Louis is right in correcting the pronunciation.

CONGRATS ON COMING OUT ON ASEXUAL!! YOURE WELCOME AND VALID AND WE LOVE YOU 🫶🫶
Louis, I know it may not seem so when you're under a two-party system, but not being affiliated to either of them does NOT make you a centrist.

Shotout fellow asexsual! (Love the intro thing btw)
(Like the A is for Ally fiasco lol)
I and most ace people I know have received threats of corrective r*pe. so yeah, the part about us being "less marginalized" was frustrating to hear. online I've seen aphobia almost as much as transphobia. and I've never received a r*pe threat for being trans.

I just hate politics 100% just rich people who want money
Politics in terms of career and the people actually in power? Yeah. But it's important to remember that politics is for everyone, and it's more than our systems, but how we define power, justice, morality, and what should and shouldn't be allowed as a society. It's why the opinions and wants of the citizens can often differ massively from those in power.

She's a relatively new person, she's white, and she's from an incredibly conservative state. Her actions don't really mean anything because all LGBTQ folks know a gay Republican.
Also I think you're mistaking "centrist" for "independent"
In America "centrist" means "conservative but not alt right"
The thing you are referring to about your beliefs is more lefty than centrist. Also left and right are not synonyms for Democrat and Republican. Democrats are actually center right in the US. Most "I hate both sides" folks are on the far left and based on her actions I have a feeling she is too

Call me an anarchist surrounded by other anarchists but I thought it was standard for left leaning people to hate the way the government functions on both sides. When did it become this weird, convoluted boot licking because one politician more or less aligns with you.
People are scared I guess, it's not an uncommon stress response to find a solution or hero figure and then deify it.
as a lesbian, seeing people dissect chappell’s romantic/sexual history because they don’t like her outspokenness, is really really sad.
so many lesbians are raised in circles where girls liking girls is not a possibility, it’s not even something that is supposed to cross your mind, and that leads us to believe growing up that we are supposed to be attracted to men, so when a man shows us attention and makes you feel lovable, it can feel like attraction. but as our society has begun to become more accepting and people become more educated, many of us realize that these feelings for men are not long-term, sustainable, or true romantic love.
people say “oh she was engaged to a man but he dumped her and now she calls herself a lesbian”, which is completely in bad faith. it could have been what snapped her out of it and realize she didn’t even want to marry him, who knows! a lot of older lesbians only realize they are after years of marriage to a man. it’s a normal thing. human sexuality is confusing and takes years, decades sometimes, to figure out.
people need to leave this lady ALONE.
It's like telling an asexual person that they can't be ace because they're not a virgin. Just like you said, it takes A WHILE for someone to figure out their sexuality
