i really appreciate you bringing this back up in 2024 because i remember being there in 2017 as a fan of the crybaby album. her tweeting “she never said no” sealed the nail in the coffin - i don’t care if the allegations are true or not, that is r*pe apologist language. every time ive tried to tell people about this (when they claim she could do no wrong/didn’t do those things), people are so quick to deny and defend her, but what she said was completely unforgivable, and the way she “responded” with diss tracks was childish and irresponsible.
As another ex-Melanie fan, I was hurt by this. I was at the trilogy tour and had spent a few hundred dollars on her merchandise. I agreed with her political beliefs and she stood for all the right things. I felt like I could trust her and I was clearly wrong trusting a celebrity. This video helped me get the right view on this situation and I have stopped listening to her and have scored all my merch away. Stay safe

I feel a good reference for this point is what was exposed in the new documentary about Dan Schneider and Nickelodeon. When it was exposed what went on with drake from drake and Josh ( never watched it, I don’t know is that’s correct title) it exposed his trauma from when he was on Nickelodeon. Yet despite it he still later on was exposed for (allegedly) grooming kids. Whether he actually did it or not I think is a good example that trauma dosent make a person incapable of doing the exact same thing.

It’s important to place care and safety on an experience that can be so emotional for people. People need to do better and care more.

As an og melanie fan (pre-voice photography era), I am so disappointed by how the fandom is treating this. I'm trying to remain neutral. I love Melanie's music because I relate to her songs, but I'm so scared that the allegations are true
a bit disappointed that you're calling out that you were an "og fan", since it feels a bit holier-than-thou, especially since that isn't a flex in this context. "staying neutral" is talking the side of the abuser. it is terrible that someone we idolize and look up to may be an awful person, but at the end of the day, you do not know melanie, only the image she projects. timothy may be lying, but what if she isn't? what if she is pouring out her heart to the world, and we sit by, "neutral", just because we love melanie - the melanie projected to us across the screen. you can still enjoy her music while condemning her. separate the art from the artist and break the parasocial nightmare that's making you feel like you have to stay "neutral".
I think you should keep researching and finding your own information. Some people just have stories and others have real receipts. At most I think you could say it was a misunderstanding. Since timothy starts her statement with being s*xual harassed and that mel was increasingly more interested in her preferences while in bed but later she says they bought a game...by the way mel was questioning her "can I touch your boobs, can I touch your arm?" That is literally from the game. Her story was skewed from the start. Timothy had a real genuine friend who released actual texts from their friendship showing the kind of person Tim is and has been speaking out against T since 2020. Those Twitter posts were from years before the assault happened and before her accounts were hacked. She also had a bunch of s*xual things as well like pictures and captions saying "look at me being d*ck slapped by a cucumber" she sent mel a tweet asking "do you like D*CK OR NAH" and she had pics of playing bondage with friends before mel. I think timothy sucks a lot for being the kind of person to have a boyfriend, have s*x trauma, be fully and totally aware that she has a hard time saying no, knew Melanie had this power over her, was harassed for one whole day and then made her own adult choice to buy and play a s*x game with the shitty person who is controlling you, doesn't care or support you, and has just harassed you for a whole day for s*x. AND then has the nerve to say she was just playing because she thought it would be funny. What is funny about any of that? And then, instead of talking to your supposed to be best friend about what went down, she blocked her and went straight to social media and the taploids. That sounds like a shitty friend to me. And while some might say she must be telling the truth if she's still speaking on it today, she literally only cares when Mel is getting a lot of attention. Also she has stated herself she doesn't want mel to go to jail, she doesn't want people to stop being her fan, she just wants to spread awareness and not be harassed...but I just feel like there is definitely a way to support specifically women and men who are taken advantage of in the music industry without putting yourself on the Frontlines online. Tim has had multiple news, and blogs and taploids share her story. Fans share her story. TH-cam videos, tiktoks, full blown support pages have all been made. A war online has started now not once but for the second time. While you can say she's not benefitting from speaking out again...isn't that the point? What does she gain besides a few more followers, ruining Mel's reputation, trying to ruin her career...like nothing I actually see from T is in support or spreading awareness about anything besides herself. And it's always been that way. You never see any growth in her personal life. She says she's been forced out of music but the truth is she gave it up. She could've easily used to this to catapult her own career by coming out with her own EP or album in response to all this. I mean rivalry between 2 figures is financially and publicly usually a win for both parties. Think Android vs iPhone. People vehemently support one or the other but both make hella money. And if she made music and it was good, best believe there are many who would ride the fence and listen to and support both artists. By posting that new video all she brought was drama and controversy. Literally imagine if she had released any new music instead? The problem is without mel she's basically irrelevant and if she had posted new music most likely no one would've even noticed...but if we wouldn't have noticed, that also means no one was harassing or hacking her. So she could've just lived in peace and accepted those who did believe and support her.
Not to mention-(I’m an SA victim-I was SA’d via coercion) which is the same thing that Maddie carina was talking about-pressuring someone to say yes is assaulting them s*xually-my ex boyfriend did this to me, after seeing all of this put together-I am no longer a fan of melaine or her music-I am so horrified and disgusted-dear god why can’t anyone be normal??

i find it appalling that people doubt Timothy cause she came out and said her abusers name long after. i couldn't even begin to explain what rape could do to a person, and it's completely normal for her to not want to say her abuser's name in that moment, or even at all. it takes an unbelievable amount of courage and bravery to say who abused you, and i don't believe people should doubt her for naming her abuser later. in fact, it'd be weirder for her to immediately blurt it out (not to say that that's weird of course, it's just unusual) considering how hard it is to come out, wether the abuser is famous or not.

I get it, people get attached to their idols and want to protect their name at all costs, but when it comes to serious allegations like this (especially this) we should take the time to see both sides of the story and as fans of melanie we should hold her accountable. The issue is that she has no proof. People come out against famous people ALL the time. You're on youtube, I know youve seen the mountain of youtubers being exposed in just this year. They all get settled because there is actual proof and the stories align.. timothy has nothing. She is just asking us to believe her words, which unfortunately you cant do, because false allegations exist. Melanie is innocent, until evidence can be brought against her to say otherwise. What disgusts me the most is that so many people expect victims to be perfect - to remember dates and time stamps, ideally have everything saved and recorded or taken pictures of and also have the best memory possible while barely expecting the same from the alleged rapist; as if SA isn't traumatic enough. @CormacMcMillan Trauma affects different people differently. Some can never forget it. For mine, I can't tell you the details, time stamps or dates. I can only tell how much I wanted to disappear/end it and that I still feel the pain and harm of it. Hence why a few details may change overtime, because you remembered something after recovering. Also I know how easy it is to be manipulated and this way, convinced to say something else or stay silent for some parts- by words, by actions, by the fact that many support your abuser, but they despise you. So you change some things or avoid them to be left alone in peace, because trying seems wasteful and unattainable. I may be interpreting your words wrong, but I think it's good to have something in mind for everyone: I'd much rather believe an alleged liar than an alleged rapist. And who you choose also shows what kind of person you are.

Okay, as a Melanie fan myself, I found out about this around two weeks ago. Never had it EVER crossed my mind to automatically assume, because I loved Melanie, that she could do no wrong. I can and will never understand how some people can blindly defend creators, claiming that they "KNOW" Mel and that she would "NEVER do that!!" Because the only things that you truly know about her are things that either she told you, or got leaked. Needless to say, I no longer consider myself a fan, and I was never one of those die hard fans (thank fuck, I really could not care less what you think about artists that I like - we all have our own opinions).

When I was 🍇ed, I didn’t say no either. My way of saying no was by telling the girl before that I was asexual (at the time) I was told by so many people that it was my fault for not saying no, for just freezing. It’s been two years since and I still carry that disgust and hatred for myself to this day. I drown it out with my now hypersexuality. So, therefore, I believe Timothy, even if the fandom hates me for it (I was never in it to begin with, I just listened to Melanie) but being in her shoes, (forgetting the date, details, etc) I will always believe the victim until proven otherwise.

It's like how I'm a big fan of black Sabbath but know no artist in it apart from Ozzy or how I like panteras music but can't stand the artists because of how racist they are. i really appreciate you bringing this back up in 2024 because i remember being there in 2017 as a fan of the crybaby album. her tweeting “she never said no” sealed the nail in the coffin - i don’t care if the allegations are true or not, that is r*pe apologist language. every time ive tried to tell people about this (when they claim she could do no wrong/didn’t do those things), people are so quick to deny and defend her, but what she said was completely unforgivable, and the way she “responded” with diss tracks was childish and irresponsible.
As another ex-Melanie fan, I was hurt by this. I was at the trilogy tour and had spent a few hundred dollars on her merchandise. I agreed with her political beliefs and she stood for all the right things. I felt like I could trust her and I was clearly wrong trusting a celebrity. This video helped me get the right view on this situation and I have stopped listening to her and have scored all my merch away.

When it was exposed what went on with drake from drake and Josh ( never watched it, I don’t know is that’s correct title) it exposed his trauma from when he was on Nickelodeon. Yet despite it he still later on was exposed for (allegedly) grooming kids. Whether he actually did it or not I think is a good example that trauma dosent make a person incapable of doing the exact same thing.

At most I think you could say it was a misunderstanding. Since timothy starts her statement with being s*xual harassed and that mel was increasingly more interested in her preferences while in bed but later she says they bought a game...by the way mel was questioning her "can I touch your boobs, can I touch your arm?" That is literally from the game. Her story was skewed from the start.
Timothy had a real genuine friend who released actual texts from their friendship showing the kind of person Tim is and has been speaking out against T since 2020. Those Twitter posts were from years before the assault happened and before her accounts were hacked. She also had a bunch of s*xual things as well like pictures and captions saying "look at me being d*ck slapped by a cucumber" she sent mel a tweet asking "do you like D*CK OR NAH" and she had pics of playing bondage with friends before mel. I think timothy sucks a lot for being the kind of person to have a boyfriend, have s*x trauma, be fully and totally aware that she has a hard time saying no, knew Melanie had this power over her, was harassed for one whole day and then made her own adult choice to buy and play a s*x game with the shitty person who is controlling you, doesn't care or support you, and has just harassed you for a whole day for s*x. AND then has the nerve to say she was just playing because she thought it would be funny. What is funny about any of that? And then, instead of talking to your supposed to be best friend about what went down, she blocked her and went straight to social media and the taploids. That sounds like a shitty friend to me.
And while some might say she must be telling the truth if she's still speaking on it today, she literally only cares when Mel is getting a lot of attention. Also she has stated herself she doesn't want mel to go to jail, she doesn't want people to stop being her fan, she just wants to spread awareness and not be harassed...but I just feel like there is definitely a way to support specifically women and men who are taken advantage of in the music industry without putting yourself on the Frontlines online. A war online has started now not once but for the second time. While you can say she's not benefitting from speaking out again...isn't that the point? What does she gain besides a few more followers, ruining Mel's reputation, trying to ruin her career...like nothing I actually see from T is in support or spreading awareness about anything besides herself. And it's always been that way. You never see any growth in her personal life. She says she's been forced out of music but the truth is she gave it up. She could've easily used to this to catapult her own career by coming out with her own EP or album in response to all this. I mean rivalry between 2 figures is financially and publicly usually a win for both parties. Think Android vs iPhone. People vehemently support one or the other but both make hella money. And if she made music and it was good, best believe there are many who would ride the fence and listen to and support both artists.
By posting that new video all she brought was drama and controversy. Literally imagine if she had released any new music instead? The problem is without mel she's basically irrelevant and if she had posted new music most likely no one would've even noticed...but if we wouldn't have noticed, that also means no one was harassing or hacking her. The issue is that she has no proof. People come out against famous people ALL the time. You're on youtube, I know youve seen the mountain of youtubers being exposed in just this year. What disgusts me the most is that so many people expect victims to be perfect - to remember dates and time stamps, ideally have everything saved and recorded or taken pictures of and also have the best memory possible while barely expecting the same from the alleged rapist; as if SA isn't traumatic enough. Also:
1. Even if Timothy did something bad in the past, I honestly don't care- in a sense that any of her negative behaviors are a seperate issue to the fact that Melanie allegedly raped her. No one, I repeat, NO ONE should go through sexual assault. Rape is always bad, no matter who it happens to- crazy that it has to be said.
2. I'm really disgusted by the fans' behavior too. Whether all of it did happen or not, it was sickening to see so many people blindly defending their idol without a second thought, some admitting that they don't even care. Trully awful.
Also just a side note, but it took me maybe three minutes of googling to learn that your pictures can, in fact, double themselves on your camera roll, either because of the system itself or because of third-party apps, mostly happening on Apple products by what I've read. So...

@CormacMcMillan Trauma affects different people differently. Some can never forget it. For mine, I can't tell you the details, time stamps or dates. I can only tell how much I wanted to disappear/end it and that I still feel the pain and harm of it. Hence why a few details may change overtime, because you remembered something after recovering. Also I know how easy it is to be manipulated and this way, convinced to say something else or stay silent for some parts- by words, by actions, by the fact that many support your abuser, but they despise you. So you change some things or avoid them to be left alone in peace, because trying seems wasteful and unattainable.
I may be interpreting your words wrong, but I think it's good to have something in mind for everyone: I'd much rather believe an alleged liar than an alleged rapist. And who you choose also shows what kind of person you are.

I’ve never been attached to celebrities, so I was always confused as to why people acted like they and their favorite celebs are friends, like you don’t know them. The only ones who know what happened is the ones that were THERE, and I’d rather believe a potential lie to validate SA survivors and have them know they aren’t alone, than a potential 🍇ist.

Okay, as a Melanie fan myself, I found out about this around two weeks ago. Never had it EVER crossed my mind to automatically assume, because I loved Melanie, that she could do no wrong. I can and will never understand how some people can blindly defend creators, claiming that they "KNOW" Mel and that she would "NEVER do that!!" Because the only things that you truly know about her are things that either she told you, or got leaked. Needless to say, I no longer consider myself a fan, and I was never one of those die hard fans (thank fuck, I really could not care less what you think about artists that I like - we all have our own opinions).
Tbf I think a lot of those people are young. When these allegations first came I was 12 and I thought like that. Now I'm 19 and realise I don't know her, and I can't know for certain what happened. I hope this is the case for most of those people too or else this is really really really concerning

Even though I am a die hard Melanie fan, and a victim of sa. I will be defending Timothy until Melanie is somehow proven innocent, even if she is my favorite singer. I will always believe the victim. No.matter.what. My heart goes out to Timothy, when I was younger when this all came out I didn’t understand. But now that sa has happened to me, and also finnaly understanding what it is, I am disgusted that Melanie would say “she never said no” and for now, I will be believeing Timothy. I hope Timothy is getting better and is more well now. I will also not be supporting Melanie until she is somehow “innocent.”

Her “she never said no” refers back to Timothy’s statement from 2017 where she said “I said no multiple times and she ignored me” and her “to what we chose to do together” means they both had consented to being intimate which is why she ended it with “I would never be intimate with someone without their absolute consent”

This is honestly heartbreaking, Melanie's music helped me and many others through tough times and having to fear that this is true just hurts
you could listen to lyric videos instead of listening on spotify or apple music so you aren’t giving her any money from your listening .
Yeah it really sucks, her music has helped me too so it's just upsetting to see this come from someone who seemed so sweet. The truth is we don't really know them behind closed doors.

When I was 🍇ed, I didn’t say no either. My way of saying no was by telling the girl before that I was asexual (at the time) I was told by so many people that it was my fault for not saying no, for just freezing. It’s been two years since and I still carry that disgust and hatred for myself to this day. I drown it out with my now hypersexuality. So, therefore, I believe Timothy, even if the fandom hates me for it (I was never in it to begin with, I just listened to Melanie) but being in her shoes, (forgetting the date, details, etc) I will always believe the victim until proven otherwise.

It's like how I'm a big fan of black Sabbath but know no artist in it apart from Ozzy or how I like panteras music but can't stand the artists because of how racist they are. From a Melanie Martinez fan of 10 years I stand with Timothy. There’s only one thing I wanna touch on and that is when people say they won’t stop supporting her because she got them through a lot. She got me through a lot too but that was her music, not her separate the art from the artist guys.
