You nailed it at the end when you described the unique exhilaration you get from the scooter over the e-bike, which feels like you aren’t really riding a vehicle as much as you do when you’re on a bike.
Yah scooters really are the most fun of the two. I’ve been trying my hand at an electric unicycle and that thing takes it to a whole other level as you cruise around completely hands free.
@@tomsgadgetgarage 2 years ago I road a scooter for first time in nearly 20 years since I was a teenager only because I was visiting a city downtown and didn’t want to rent a car or pay for Uber so I tried Lime. Suuuuper fun and going down steep hills was so exhilarating felt dangerous as hell though haha. Now I ride e-bikes just safer because of the huge fat tires don’t have to worry as much about potholes bumps etc especially at speeds of 30+ which on a scooter is sketchy. I just pre-ordered a 40 mph e-bike can’t wait, But I’ll admit the scooter just feels more like it’s just you and not a vehicle. Very free feeling
Yah potholes can literally be a death sentence in scooters. Some of these things go 70+ which absolutely blows my mind lol. Not much reaction time at those speeds. Congrats on the bike! 40mph should be fun for sure. Which one did you get?
I got the wired freedom bike. I was just talking to random guy today who said his relative was just on a scooter the other day “faceplanted” and has a black eye
That makes sense. It’d have to be a smaller scooter to take on and off public transit. Some of the beast scooters weight in at 100+ lbs. I’ve seen a couple people on TH-cam ride their e-bikes across the country. Pretty crazy stuff.
I was already leaning towards getting an e-scooter, but this video was exactly what I was looking for, as I am new to both bikes and scooters. Thank you.
Yah, leaving e-bikes and scooters outside locked to something makes me nervous. Seen too many videos of people jacking these things with portable circular saws.
what do you do when your battery dies? you cant pedal a scooter like you can a bike. do you really enjoy standing up at an awkward angle with tiny wheels?
@terrycruise-zd5tw Well, I carry my charger everywhere, I can take my scooter inside of any restaurant while you leave your bicycle outside even if it's raining while your components might die soon lmao 🤣, oh and I don't sweat I'm always fresh.
No problem, thanks for watching! Yah deciding between the two can definitely be a struggle. One thing I didn’t mention that I’m learning now is that it’s much easier for me to maintain good posture on a scooter than a bike. Kind of a weird thing to call out but I work at my desk all day for my day job and it’s a killer on my back.
I own both - cheap e-scooter and cheap e-bike. The former one is just so much fun to ride, however, it tuck some practice to feel confident on a e-scooter and bike feels much more natural. Scooter requires ideal and predictable travel conditions - something as small as 4cm curb can send you flying, so wearing helmet is a must... Bike, on the other hand, can handle poor road conditions more easily - it can climb curbs, feels more stable, bigger wheels slip less when its wet etc. I can ride more relaxed, not to think about every little peace of debris on the road. Also night-time riding feels much safer due to same reasons. So what's not great about ebike? Its size and weight. In Lithuania we must come off the bike or scooter when crossing the road (driving is not allowed in almost all cases). So hopping on and off scooter is as easy as taking a step. The same on the bike requires, well, lifting your leg over, sitting down to pedal. Imagine doing this every 500 meters. My commute also includes taking pedestrian crossing under the street level and my lightweight 15 kg scooter is clearly winning this vs 21kg bike.
I have that exact ebike and I love it. I tried a lime scooter once and really didn't like it. Even the slightest jut in the pavement and you're going down. I also have balance issues on a scooter. I've had some close calls on my ebike but no major crashes where as every time I got on a scooter I wiped out at some point in the ride.
Yah with scooters you really do have to watch closely for imperfections in the road given the smaller tires. With a bike a pot hole might be an inconvenience, but for a scooter it could be a launching pad for a super man flying scene audition haha.
Thanks man! Yah I think here in the valley e-bikes definitely have the edge. They definitely have more of a commanding presence on the road than a scooter and can also handle bumps in the road with ease.
Yah bike lanes are nice when there’s some extra space between the lane and traffic. Unfortunately where I’m at the bike lanes are on roads with higher speeds like 45mph and there’s essentially zero protection.
It all depends. I'm into 40mph+ scooters. Is big and won't fit in my trunk. I recently bought an ebike, much slower but i have way more fun, fits on my trunk which i bought the folding one. Love both
i have Engwe Enige Pro e-bike and Segway G2 Max scooter and love both. Bike for longest ride 50+ km trip, scooter in city, work/shop/relax ride 25+ km trip
I live in South Alabama and am about 4 miles from work so I would be using this for a daily commute. Unfortunately most roads and people who drive aren’t accustomed to seeing any electric scooters or bikes on the road way. Also there isn’t much in terms of accommodation for bike lanes or even shoulders to pull off on. I’m at about a 700-900$ budget but will probably finance anyways. Which should I go with?
Thanks for the info bro, do you think an e scooter is a good option for 1 hour ride to work in arizona? given the weather, would I arrive to my job in sweat 😂?
Anytime! So if you’re going to be riding during the day in the hotter months, I’d actually recommend an e-bike. Reason being that scooters are more prone to overheat because their batteries are so close to the hot pavement/asphalt. Plus, if you get a bike with a throttle, you don’t have to pedal and work up a sweat haha. As long as you’re moving, the heat is tolerable while riding. I personally feel safer on a bike when riding in the roads here in AZ. People are crazy.
Hello! I would say E-bikes are the safer option given their larger tires. They aren’t as fun in my opinion, but they are the safer option. They also face fewer restrictions. For example, in the city I live in, it’s illegal to use an e-scooter in the bike lane, but completely legal in the city across the street from me.
Yes bikes offer a better ride and you can get exercise but the small form factor of a scooter means you can easily take a taxi bus ect or just throw it in a small car or rv and go on a trip. Love my ebike so much but its so inconvenient to travel with as it curently dosent fit in my car and a stap on bike rack with a 100lb bike is not ideal. You can also fit the scooter in a small closet standing up or under a high couch or table.
Those are all great points. It’s definitely easier for me do get my scooter in the car. My ebike is around 64lbs which isn’t terrible, but it’s definitely more challenging given the awkward shape.
@terrycruise-zd5tw ummm to ride when you get somewhere.... I'll take my bike in my car to nyc ride all throughout Manhattan, bronx, and Brooklyn without spending crazy money on cabs waiting for traffic and taking the cramped subway. Also there may be a park that is a little to far to ride too but just a short car drive away.
My Kaabo Wolf Warrior X Plus 2024 e-scooter weighs 79lbs and goes 44mph+ while my Segway Ninebot Max G2 weighs 50lbs and goes 22mph. I almost bought the Segway GT1 instead of the Kaabo Wolf Warrior and I'm glad I didn't because the GT1 weighs 105lbs and goes 37mph and uses a 48v battery where the Kaabo has a 60v battery and they both cost just about the same at $1,500 for the GT1 and $1,600 for the Wolf Warrior X. I was thinking of getting an e-bike, but with my bad back an e-scooter is easier on my back since my legs take most of the bumps😮 bounces with the shocks where when I sit on an e-bike my back takes all the bumps and bounces from sitting.
Having a local person who can work on e-bikes and hauling groceries is better on e bike for me . Also,if I run out of power I have ability to get home and e bikes seem to have better selection for heavy rider.
Thinking of getting a scooter! I had a e bike last year and after getting the tire replaced the battery died on me. Was told $600 for new one+ $300 shipping. Anyways now im buying a scooter so i can use it for my commute.
To me, though, I like e-scooters because of the fact that I can put my scooter in a good spot. In a sense, I don't have to worry about where to put my scooter or how to protect it. I can bring it anywhere I go - in a taxi, in a hotel, at my workplace, or even upstairs in elevators. I can take it on a transit bus, to school, and so on. It brings a lot of convenience when it comes to traveling, especially in tight spaces. It's like bringing a suitcase with me, but this suitcase can take me places quickly. As for e-bikes, I think they're pretty good, but they're not ideal in most scenarios involving tight spaces. They're also easy to lose.
I have an electric scooter 2000W dual motor with 30mp/h speed and 25 miles range. I enjoy it a lot and it has off road tires I holds on any surface that exists. Bro I can not ride a bike anymore. 6 hours full charged and you are at car speed in city not needing to wait at right side of line or anything. Big kudos to onvo 13x plus
Hey! The scooter in the video is the Segway Ninebot Max G2. There’s an Amazon link to it in the video description with the latest pricing which is $999. You can also get them from the Segway website.
Here in germany you need a sticker that its insured and suitable for streets.. bike you dont .. I always loved my scooters and went for a bike this time, and to my surprise i enjoy the feeling of the bike more (i was always afraid driving a bike)
That’s awesome! Yah I heard there are very strict restrictions across Europe for scooters. Do they have restrictions for electric bikes? I find bikes to be a bit more relaxing, probably because the bigger wheels mean I don’t have to worry as much about potholes or other road hazards.
I have the xp 3.0 back in june a tree fell on it and only thing that broke was the kickstand. The reason I got the ebike is where I live there are laws in place already. But escooters on the other hand are in a gray zone. Meaning its up to the cops interpretation of laws that doesn't exist
That's crazy it held up after a tree falling on it. I was also surprised mine held up after falling out of the trunk haha. Yah scooters are definitely in a gray area in many places. It'll be interesting to see how these things are regulated in the future. I know scooters were taking lots of heat because of the whole rental fiasco and scooters dumped all over the place.
Hello mate, love your vids! Shall i get E-scooter or E-bike for food delivery, i really cant choose between these 2. Or anyone if can help me please, Thank you
Thank you! Bikes would likely have more capacity to carry orders but I’ve seen awesome scooter food delivery setups. Have you seen the videos by @yogadude1234 (Electric Scooter Academy)? He does DoorDash on lots of scooters and might be able to provide some insight.
Escooter because smaller. Easier to get on and off. When you fall, there is no seat to bring you down with it. And i can strap a case of soda on the front part of the platform of the scooter.
Haha. Yah I’ve seen some crazy videos of people loading up their scooters with groceries. Saw one where a guy loaded a big screen TV from Best Buy on the front.
I would say bikes. They have a more commanding presence on the road vs a scooter, bigger wheels, and less prone to speed wobbles given the steering geometry and wheel size.
I will ride it exclusively on flat road. Storage space is an issue and i need to be able to carry it in a bus too.. So the choice is clear, an e-scooter will be best 4 my needs.
Yah it’s kind of crazy how ebike companies are generally strict with their speed limits and classes whereas with scooters, it feels like an arms race for speed lol. They have scooters that’ll do 70mph+ even though most jurisdictions have limits set at 20-25 mph. I do find it strange why there are any limits on speed at all tbh. None of those limits exist for cars. You can buy street legal cars that go 300mph.
@@tomsgadgetgarage I know over 28 your suppose to kinda register it and insure it in my state, which would honestly ruin the point of the whole thing. NY and CA are starting to cut down on surrons.
Not true. If you want to use your ride for say first and last mile commutes with public transport (or even a car so you can park out of town) in between the scooter wins hands down.
I'd say an eskate. Both your hands are free, most are lighter than an escooter and can be taken upstairs or bring inside to charge easier. It's much more exhilarating to ride too! It also works out core and lower body. Boy, was I sore after my first few days eskating. Of course, there are more risks on an eskate in the sense that there's no handlebar, but it's not really that much riskier than an escooter. Oh, and it's much easier to fit a skateboard in a trunk or the backseat of a car than an ebike or escooter, even if it's a foldable bike or scooter. I used to use my escooter all the time and going 40-45mph was super fun, but it's much more fun to go 25mph and carve around on an eskate. It also looks a lot cooler. I've always felt kind of dorky on a scooter lol
Definitely love me some longboard action. I’ve been looking into electric longboards but haven’t taken the leap yet. Thoroughly enjoyed their non-powered counterparts when I lived in Colorado. What kind of board do you ride?
@@tomsgadgetgarage I have a bustinboard hybrid, hub motor, but it's fun since it can be kick pushed like a traditional board. I also have an Onsra Velar mountainboard and a Mboards Endurance. The Endurance is my favorite. I get over 50 miles of range on it and is super stable at 40mph.
Those all look pretty sick. Definitely tempting. My latest ride is an electric unicycle which has been loads of fun as well. Just has 3 fewer wheels haha. How’s the downhill performance on the eskate?Does it hold you to the max speed or can you coast beyond it?
Haha! I put on a few pounds in the two months after I purchased the scooter and I attribute it all to the scooting. I went from running everyday to scooting everyday!
@@tomsgadgetgarage I haven't gotten it yet, it should be delivered Wednesday. I got a Gotrax Flex Campus last month on sale for $324 and I wanted something that had peddles and a longer range on a single charge. Due to the fact that the Gotrax only goes about 12 miles haha.
@@tomsgadgetgarage I couldn't pass it up, unfortunately they don't have the $100 coupon code anymore. Still $619 and free shipping and no tax for a 400 watt motor and a 48 volt 20 amp hour battery! That's not bad especially when they are selling just a replacement battery for $499 lmao!!
that things scary, they dont even tell you the motor brand it uses, nor the battery cells, lots of unbranded parts and the wheels dont even have spokes so they cant be trued
You forgot something electric scooter is impossible to steal you fold it and take it with you. E-bike are easily targeted by bike thieves I prefer electric scooter is more fun to ride.

@@sauceboss4670lmao I’m about two seconds away from pulling the trigger on. $3300 kaabo wolf king pro. It sounds like so much fun going 60 on it lol
Not true. If you want to use your ride for say first and last mile commutes with public transport (or even a car so you can park out of town) in between the scooter wins hands down.
My Maxfun 10 Pro would crush those hills faster than most ebikes of similar price
Well, with 3k watts of power I’m sure almost every hill doesn’t stand a chance haha. How are you liking that scooter?
@@tomsgadgetgarage The scooter is phenomenal. Very well built and fast. I chose it because of the throttle control. Not a fan of trigger throttles.
Good to hear. Looks like it’s got PMT tires stock as well. Just ordered some PMTs for another scooter to swap out the hybrids.
What about the electric skateboard which is by far the most fun and also most dangerous and terrible on most terrain lol.
Haha! E-skates are definitely fun. Unfortunately I got first hand experience with speed wobbles at 28mph. For a brief moment I thought I could fly 🤣.
I have scoter I fall by dog traing to get me is no good
I'd rather have an e-scewters with more batery volumes
Yah the portability factor with scooters is hard to beat.
You and I have the same bike and scooter lol
Haha! Nice! Yah they are both solid options :)
EUC is better than both by a mile
EUC definitely brings a fun factor that bikes and scooters can’t match 😎.
I steel have my scoter but I next get bike
Main point: e scooters are illiegal in the uk
Ha! Excellent point. You can still rent them in the UK though, right?
I don't want an e scooter because the slightest bit of inattention and your in trouble. E bike's are a lot more forgiving.
That’s definitely a factor to consider. Many scooters require both hands on the handlebars. Itch on the face? Better pull over lol.
Bike is safe
Wearing cute outfits...scooters would win here.
Ha!
Scouter is for lazy people 😂
Haha! I put on a few pounds in the two months after I purchased the scooter and I attribute it all to the scooting. I went from running everyday to scooting everyday!
I you dont have skills dont do IT
Human power with the ride is SO MUCH BETTER. Don't be lazy.
Still gonna ride e scooter
👎🏼
Time is money
So f scooter and get a bike
Haha!
Got a Wildeway X7 eBike for $519, 400 watt motor and a 48 volt 20 amp hour battery! Only downside is it has 14 inch wheels.
Nice! How does it ride? Looks like a fun bike!
Let me know how it rides! Looks like a smokin’ deal to me.
Very true! A lot more portable 😎
Dont some have keys?
@Anony556 yes of course that's why they're harder to steal compared to ebike
GOOD
You know what trauma doctors call e-scooter riders - Organ Donors!
Yah scooters definitely require more safety gear. Tons of people riding around without helmets.
