I love your neutral way of car detailing. It's so refreshing in a world of "I'm right and everyone else is wrong". Bringing brilliant solutions to suit everyone, kudos to you sir, keep up the good work.

Wow, I'm impressed to see this video that's 3 years old. You were miles ahead everyone else!!!!!
    I use the no-bucket method:
First I foam with a prewash, let it sit and then rinse off with the high pressure washer.
In this way you get rid of loose dirt.
If you have a good paint protection, prewash may be enough. But usually there is a so-called traffic film left.
To get rid of the traffic film, I apply regular car shampoo with the foam gun and then hand wash.
Since all loose dirt, dust, gravel and mud are gone after the prewash and the car shampoo is already on the car after the second foaming, I only use a bucket to keep pre soaked washing gloves.
I use three different gloves in different colors:
    1) Yellow for ceilings and windows
    2) Pink for the hood, tailgate and the sides down to the middle of the door.
    3) Blue, to the lower part of the door, tires and rims.
It can be said that it is a zero-bucket method.
(If you want, you can of course rinse the washing gloves from time to time. But there is really no reason)
    Pros:
    - Since the car shampoo is already on the car, it is super quick to hand wash. That is, you do not have to run back and forth to "get foam / car shampoo from the bucket.
    - You also avoid the rinsing step as all loose dirt is gone after prewash.
    Safe:
    Completely scratch-free
    Timesaving:
The car shampoo is already on the car
    Fun:
You get to foam twice : )

I keep coming back to this video every so often. I've begun to only use a bucket of water to soak multiple mitts or microfiber towels then use car soap in a spray bottle to spray on the mitt or panel. It saves me having to rinse out the bucket of any leftover soap after a wash.

Tried this method today with fantastic results the soap is so concentrated it just glides over the paint
so much quicker as well and hardly wasted any water just used the Karcher K5 pressure washer also tried the Bowdens own Nanolicious amazing soap im a convert from meguiars
highly recommend this method thanks Sandro

This is great. Not only are you using a fraction of the amount of wash this way, but your paint is actually seeing a higher concentration of soap at the same time. It's a win win, except for the car soap manufacturers

Wow, this is smart! It will save me a lot of shampoo. With 2 bucket method, a lot of times I have to throw away the leftover diluted shampoo

Good to see options. Thanks Sandro. In my scenario, I usually look at the level of dirt, incoming weather, type of car, time I have, doing for therapy or quickie, before deciding which method. Definitely the key is lubrication at contact and cleanliness of material used as you have pointed out. Maintenance is so key as we only have so much clear coat to work with over time.

  • @rugby86

I’ve been using the one bucket, multi-mit option. Saves me time having to rinse the same wash mit. 5 washmits per side of the car (top, drivers side, passengers, front, back). Flip the mit as well. I have a second bucket to discard the kits ready for washing 🙂.

I just reapplied my truck with Cquartz UK, because of paint overspray. While waiting the 7 days to wash the truck, I was looking for ways to better wash and dry my truck. I'm glad I came across your video. I use Reset with my foam cannon, rinse and spray Reset 9:1 on my wash mitt. I did it also on my other car with CQ UK, and I like your method. Thank you again, great idea and new way of washing

Great idea! I've seen a few videos of a similar nature pop up on YT recently. What I've learned is that while there are definitely some wrong ways to wash a car, there are almost endless right ways. It depends on what you want out of your wash and how much you are willing to put into it, both in cost and time. It's always good to have many different ways of getting to the same place since conditions on the ground can vary quite a bit, especially for you mobile guys.

hey Sandro, great approach! Will definately try this out! I just got a Bucket-Trolley for my wash-bucket. I hope with your method and the Bucket following me around the car will down on time spend doing all the prep-work. My updated Pre-Detail Wash procedure will be:
    1. Wash with pump sprayer, 1 Rinse-Bucket following me
    2. Rinse down with wather
    3. Clay with pump sprayer & Clay mat
    4. Use IPA & drying towel to directly dry the each panel after claying it (use at least 3 drying towels, my current favorite is the Double Twistress from Rag Company 60x90cm)
In my opinion, it does not matter if the paint is not flawlessly clean when it will be compounded and polished afterwards. It could also be rinsed down after step 3 and be followed with a spray sealant instead of IPA, if its only a maintenance wash.

I use the same mit as you there Sandro but i just hit it with the garden hose set on jet to rinse the mit then i give it a squeeze to get out a bit of the water before loading with soap from my spray bottle...good advice...and it does save a hell of a lot of product, I love how you have done your description labels on the bottom of your bottles...clear and look good.

Hi Sandro just got a PA Foam gun from Waxit. My method was multiple mitts with a pre rinse but now its pressure washer rinse, then the Foam gun, allow to dwell, rinse off, then use my favorite Megs Wash n Wax (in a bucket) with lots of foam and multiple mitts. By the time i get to the mitts there should be no contaminants on the vehicle and NO SWIRLS 2 B left behind. Having said that i am intrigued with the Bottle method and will give that a go in the LSP of a wash. "Car Whispering" its great therapy to end the hectic work week 4 me. Keep well Danny

I use the 10 mitt method. Never dunk a dirty mitt into your soapy water, grab a clean mitt.
I don't even use a bucket. I use a foam gun. Foam a panel and foam the mitt for extra lubercation.

Hello, I’m new here, and this is the first video of yours I’ve ever watched. To be honest I’ve never thought of this. And it actually makes sense. Save water, save product. Also you could spray a little product onto the body panel you are about to wash for extra lubrication. Very interesting concept. I’m very much set in my ways of washing my cars. With 2 buckets and 3 mits. But regardless I respect and appreciate this new idea. Well done sir.

Good video. Here's what I've been doing. Spray the car with diluted bug and tar remover, rinse with pressure, apply soap via snow foamer, use a single mitt to do the washing top to bottom, rinsing the mitt in a bucket between panels. Seems to be the quickest way to do it, as my washing location isn't really ideal, it's on different gradients so I hate using extra buckets. Obviously I do the wheels first with wheel brushes and wheel cleaner, but again, I just spray cleaners on the wheel and rinse the brush using the hose. No space for buckets really. Once the washing is done, I can pull the car into the garage to dry it and reapply any hydrophobic glass stuff or spray detailer or tyre shine or whatever. I don't tend to do all of them every wash cos I try to save time. I really have come to hate buckets lol.

I have been trying to have a safe car washing method for the past year, since I 've been living in apartment. I can go back to my parents house where I have my pressure washer and everything else. But washing in the middle of the week is something I have been trying to find out. I have been trying various methods. Latelt I am trying to make car wash solutions in QD bottle, spray it on the panel, wipe it with my 1st wash mitt, dunk it in to rinse bucket with gritguard, ready for the next cycle. Then dry with towel.. Not too wet the parking lot floor, easy to carry 1 bucket with water and a Car Wash in a bottle.

My current wash method involves a pre-rinse followed by foaming of the car for better lubrication of the wash mit. Once the car is foamed I clean the top portion of the car then pressure rinse my mit spray my soap solution into my mit and continue hand washing. After 3 months of testing my car only has a few small swirls. Saves a lot of water and product use.

  • @Butterffinger5678

I basically do the same thing. My foam gun and cannon have become my "soap bucket", while my rinse bucket remains the same. I'm sure I still use more soap than you do. Lol. The foam gun is a great option for being cost effective, compared to a foam cannon, since the cannon needs the pressure washer. Great video!

Another great video Sandro. I've used a variation of this during the chemical decon process. Iron Out mixed with car shampoo and water. Thanks again for another insightful video!!

Love the idea but I would modify it just a bit. Instead of just dunking it in the bucket and scrubbing it on the grit guard, I would ADD an additional step and spray/rinse the mitt with a hose .. the pressure of the water will help get rid of dirt that’s embedded in the mitt. Other than that, solid work!

As long as the paint is wet and you soak your wash mitt in water to start with about 1:25 is a better ratio in a spray bottle for a maintenance wash.
If your doing a decontamination wash, then about 1:10 with snow plus is a great ratio.

When you consider the variation of soap concentrations on the market would you say adding 5 times as much as you would use in the bucket would be a good start point for the spray bottle? On of my soaps (hilt hamber autowash) uses only 5ml per bucket. I wouldn't want to put 100ml in a bottle as that would use a 6 months worth of weekly soap for me.

I cannot see his reply and I am about to try this method with BH Autowash which recommends 5ml to each 10L in a bucket. What dilution ratio you used in a spray bottle? Thanks in advance

I see you’re using the Carpro microfiber mitt in this video ... seems to work very well. Have you ever tried the Microfiber Madness Incredimitt? Lots of folks raving about it and I’m looking to purchase just 1 microfiber one with your spray method to start ... would appreciate your opinion. Love your videos ... honestly, they are top notch!

Well gave it a go this morning with Reset cut 1:9 in a spray bottle - worked beautifully! I too use the Carpro Mitt (which I love btw) and what I noticed is I had great lubricity the entire time unlike towards the end of the wash when the wash bucket bubble breakdown a bit. And instead of 3 buckets (still use a dedicated wheel bucket) I only had 2 buckets to clean up. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Might up the dilution as I would have liked to see a bit more suds.

I do 1 5 gal bucket for wheels,1 5 gal bucket for car.1 mit for each bucket.Rinse mit/brushes for each wheel and for the 1 mit is rinsed from spray nozzle after cleaning each panel/area.no need for multiple mits for washing car.2 bucket rinse is a myth, lying to yourself if you think your.getting all dirt out by rubbing guards on bottom of bucket.Marketing gimmick. Good idea with spray bottle method for extra lubrication.I would use Wolgang along with Meguiars gold class soap on bucket.Presoak wheels as well.

You indicate that one of drawbacks of two bucket method is the lack of suds to lubricate after time. This can easily be solved by adding a little extra detergent and using Jet portion of nozzle create new suds.

Will the soap keep in the spray bottle once diluted with water? I was think it may spoil / start to lose effectiveness once sitting diluted for a while - keen to try this but I only wash my car once every few weeks, so it would be sitting diluted for 1-2months easy lol
